Echoing shock and Storm Keeper do stack. People are using storm keeper and using echoing shock into chain lightning in alpha.
Also I’m excited to see when we get the Necrolord zone to see how Primordial Bolt plays with all that then taking surge of power. flame shock, surge of power spreading flame shock and then primordial bolt puts flame shock on a target then makes the next Lava Burst hit all targets with Flame Shock
Enhancement is looking really awful for shadowlands. This idea that getting back ‘class identity’ REALLY hurts hybrid specs more than focused dps specs. The idea that my melee warrior of the elements wants to base himself around casting lightning bolts and elemental spells rather than putting his power into heavy weapon abilities is just silly.
It’s fine to have a hybrid melee/ranged spec, but don’t base a melee spec around ranged spells. Enhance should be about big meaty stormstrike chains and enhancing weapons for big satisfying damage, not about hitting something until you’re ready to throw a spell at it because you hit it enough times.
Not a popular opinion I know, but I really think this is a ‘think you do but you don’t’ situation.
Probably because there is so much that changed with enh while elemental plays the same with a few new things like Echoing shock.
I disagree with everything you said. Running far away from flametongue and frostband is a great thing. Stormstrike is still a staple in our rotation. Now going back to maelstrom stacks to use on big spells or heals was always a great feel with enh. Its to early to say but if the tuning is good with spell damage and healing enh looking in a good spot.
Enh just looks better than its current iteration.
I play shaman every xpac enh and ele and even when its bad it always still works.
You can go play classic, then TbC and tell us all about how great your " melee warrior of the elements" plays. I can tell you it’s not that great. As for drooling on your keyboard while smashing SS, 2h frost DK will probably be centered around chain mashing Oblit’s. I suggest you go level one if you don’t have one already.f
I couldn’t disagree more with every sentiment here. I absolutely want to be back to casting lightning spells, Stormstrike chains aren’t nearly as meaty as they might feel because of the potential for it to just keep chaining over and over, we are still enhancing weapons with imbues (and Flametongue/Frostbrand in the current iteration feel awful to press, absolutely no oomph whatsoever for a full GCD).
Definitely not a “think you do but you don’t” situation.
I have always been an elemental user but I am happy that they are returning chain heals, and weapon imbue back to all specs. Currently in BOA, as an elemental, I feel like i am a less powerful mage who is not as squishy. Also I use to like the totem utility back in WOLK days and so I wouldn’t mind seeing more totem use.
From everything ive been reading on shaman and also watching through sloot, towellie, bell and so on shamans biggest issue going into shadowlands is the GCD on totems. and it really does look like i huge issue, im really hoping the either take them off or make totem mastery let us back certain ones we want on when we use that like the old ability we had where we can put 4 totems to place. elemental blast being a talent looks super fun to add into the rotation and i can’t wait to be able to test with that. stormkeeper being a talent seems super cool an all but for me just doesnt seem to fit with the enhance play, maybe change it to something to boost or enhancements or totems ? it just feels too much like an elemental ability. if we are bringing back the class identity and shamans being able to commune with the elements why cant we have gust of winds back?
Either give us Gust of wind back or Lightning Bolt (castable while moving), it feels terrible to rely on lava surge procs when getting pinned down by melees
tbh, I’m really worried about added abilities and keybinds. I know a lot of classes got overpruned and have the space but on my enhance main I still currently struggle with keybind real estate.
The thought of returning a half dozen (or more) abilities and totems to the spec in addition to the covenant abilities, trinkets, potions, and other on-use items is already starting to give me anxiety.
Hopefully the redesign will free up some space by making the synergy between specs strong enough that they can eliminate redundancy & clean up “new” bloat created in this process.
I dont have this issue. I have plenty of keybind space on my shaman as ELE and ENH for the added abilities. Resto has a bit more but I have plenty of real estate for all 3 specs. Do you use modifiers? I use Shift and Alt modifiers, try that if you arent using them.
It’s bad right now. Too much set up for too little payoff. You get 72%spell power guaranteed crit on like 5 targets once? On 45 sec cd when you can vesper and get 50% spell power on 6 targets no set up x3 for 150%spell power with vesper on 30 sec cd.
looking thru spell book I see about 22 abilities that require a bind (not counting non-critical things like far sight/rez/astral reacall/etc) that I don’t bind… talents and warmode can add up to 9 more to that (depending on choices), then there’s another 5-10 non class specific binds (mount, neck, cloak, potion, focus macro, push-to-talk key, profession items, etc)…
That puts it currently at around 40 abilities that ‘need’ a bind. I’m using Shift modifiers on several keys, mouse macros, and page up/down for several abilities and keys.
There is room to grow (Alt modifiers, etc) but honestly the 40ish abilities we got, plus the 6-10 more that is sounds they may are adding sounds like it could get a bit unwieldy
Night Fea actually seems like a better Vesper totem. They both deal (150% spell power + 150% attack power) total damage to your enemies but Fea transfusion will deal it to 8 enemies while Vesper totem will only deal it to 6.
Very rough Napkin math. Assuming (low numbers to keep it clean) 20 spell power and 20 attack power.
Vesper totem damage: 20/2(half spell power + 20/2(half attack power = 20 (total power). 20TP x 3 (pulses it can do) x 6 (targets it can hit) = 360 total damage (60 per target).
Vesper totem healing: 20SP + 20AP = 40 (total power). 40TP x 3 (pulses it can do) x 6 (targets it can hit) = 720 total healing (120 per target hit).
Fae Transfusion damage: 20/4(quarter spell power) + 20/4(quarter attack power = 10 (total power). 10TP x 6 (pulses it can do) x 8 (targets it can hit) = 480 damage (60 per target).
Fae Transfusion healing: 480 (it heals based on all damage, taken from above) * .75 (75% of the damage) = 360 healing. Now is Fae Transfusion 360 healing per target up to 8? If so that’s 2,880 total healing. Or is it 360 healing divided between 8? then it would be 360 total healing (45 per target).
Fea Transfusion will seems to be cemented as the “AoE” skill. Vesper totem seems like a good middle ground. It does well in an AoE or not. Vesper will also have dumb range at 40 yards. Fea will most likely be limited to 8-10 yards.
Myself? most likely still going to go Necrolord for Fleshcraft so I can have an extra defensive CD. Even if I don’t really understand Primordial wave atm for enhancement. Like I understand it as Resto: you use it and a target will get flameshock applied. Then your next Lava burst will also hit anything affected by your flameshock. However enhancement will apply flameshock and when you lightning bolt, will heal targets affected by Riptide? Like what.
I’m expecting shamans to get a 4th spec named Earth Wardens and realize their full potential as protectors of azeroth. Primarily utilizing the element of the earth to deafin blows and mitigate threats. Soon, my fellow Shamans… soon…
