Shadowlands Minimum Item Level

I have a bunch of characters in the item level 400 range. I’m not sure the exact conversation maybe it’s item level 75 now? I assume most of the BFA gear would be replaced by Shadowlands greens by level 55ish?

How many more hours would it take a BFA item level 75 character to get to Shadowlands level 55 compared to a BFA item level 100 character?

If the answer is only a couple hours more, I won’t bother continuing to gear all my item level 75 characters. There are other things I would rather be doing, but I want to make sure they are high enough to start Shadowlands and able to quest solo.

If you do the prepatch event they will all be geared 100 with a 115 weapon.

I know but that takes many hours for each character. I want to know if all my item level 75 characters will be able to handle shadowlands at the start until they get SL green quest gear.

Example. If it takes an extra 2 hours for an item level 75 character to get to SL level 55 compared to an item level 100 character.

Or let’s say it takes 8 hours to get an item level 75 character to item level 100 now. Then obviously it’s better to wait.

It won’t take that much more time at all. As with most things, the bulk of your time will be travel, and iLevel can’t fix that. As long as you don’t get yourself killed a lot forcing, you know, more travel, the times you save killing mobs with a bit of OP gear, while it’ll be “something” I doubt you’ll notice much of anything.

What’s the ilvl of a new, boosted lvl 50? I would say that ilvl is fine to enter SL with.

Ive leveled 5 characters to level 50 and stopped playing the second they dinged. Probably be a little headache when starting SL but like other xpacs youll get new gear so fast it shouldnt be a problem. Off to level my 6th toon to 50.

Soul a WoW YouTuber was able to push thru starting stuff in SL at ilvl 50. That’s to include the leveling revamp where you can do whatever after hitting max with your next character.

Some will be easier than others. you have to want to die as a BM hunter to use an example.

Also remember when this event is gone the game has to support a normal gear progression. So it will be the 60ish clears at level 50 ding going straight to sl like how legion to bfa went.

legion to bfa you didn’t have to spend 4 days in legion to gear up. ding 110, enter bfa was how it went.

Cool thx. I read something somewhere a few weeks ago that said the early levels in SL are very hard if your not decently geared so I wanted to ask here.

Whomever wrote that was talking nonsense, the SL leveling zones were initially tested with characters in the ilvl 70ish range. The whole leveling experience is designed for characters in bad gear.

As for speed, the speed at which you kill things is not the deciding factor while leveling. You’ll spend far more time running from place to place and looking for victims than you will actually fighting anything.

If you want to speed up your leveling, get one of those movement speed gems.

If my alts go straight to kill Nathanos without getting the quest from ogrimnar, will they get the weapon drops? I’ve done two characters so far and I did all the barrens quests to unlock the Nathanos quest before going to Plaguelands.

I ran a template enhancement shaman through before they got some really necessary buffs, and I was fine until like the end of the Night fae zone, where I started to get my face smashed in repeatedly. If I had leveled as elemental, I probably would have had a MUCH easier time.

Basically, just depends on your class, really.

So you should be fine with just the 100 gear. SL is actually unique in that your heroic/mythic raid gear is going to be viable until you hit cap, pretty much. Fresh cap quest gear is like 140ish or something.

Yeah , its leveling content is won’t be too hard. Moreover there will be a lot of players during launch and the coming weeks , so its just a matter of tagging

say what???

I think you’re ready for 11.0 lol

At this moment level 49 gear is ilvl 58. Someone said it’s going to be nerfed to ilvl 50, but they gave no source.

Less time then what your going to spend upgrading the toon. Just get the 115 weapon for your alts since its easy and park them if you want my opinion. Like every other expansion to date its balanced for players just hitting the previous max level in quest greens to immediately get into the new content. You might save a little bit of time but I doubt its alot.

ilvl 75 is what the Template characters are in Beta and I had no problems when I was initially leveling and I think its easier now then when I last leveled.

Sounds good. I got a 115 staff for my Ele/Resto shaman today. Will I be able to kill Nathanos again on the same character after reset Tuesday to get one for Enhance?

No more than 2 or 3. And that’s really doing nothing other than camping the rares and killing nathanos once or twice (if you dual wield). If you kill mobs and do dailies you can be done with quite a bit less work.

my main is about 106 ilvl now…everything is overly easy so far.
Two of my alts are high 80s and 90…still pretty easy. Have yet to die even pulling half a dozen trash at once.
A third alt is 76 ilvl. The fights are a little rough here and there, but still easy enough and havent died yet so far even pulling 3 - 5 trash.

As far as BFA gearing, yeah, it looks like it is still going to be the RNG nightmare.
I got tempted to run a few emissaries on the lower ilvl character, but then I remembered getting the same pieces for weeks at a time.
No thanks

Run the dailies for prepatch and buy some of the 100 gear with the commendations. At the very least you can pick the pieces you want instead of the RNG crap.
