Art and sound team did an incredible job as per usual.
Ardenweald and Bastion are amazing zones.

I liked Shadowlands.
I actually thought the Maw, the original Maw (that was pretty hardcore) was kinda awesome.
Ever notice that polling agencies like Harris and Gallup never use internet forums to gather information? Internet forums tend to have a very heavy bias toward people who have something to complain about. They are hardly a representative sample of the greater population.
This is correct. The Silmarillion was essentially a collection of notes Tolkien kept, from which The Hobbit was derived. It was published later (1977) after the success of The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings (1954-1955).
I really don’t think this matters. What’s important is not what the author was thinking in advance, it’s what the reader encounters as we read the story.
In the case of Tolkien there are notes about what he was thinking but for any given author, how would anyone know what they were thinking in advance? And why would it matter? It’s the story that we are reading, not the author’s mind.
Am I allowed to say it was just okay? Because that’s how I felt.
8 post count troll bait thread. report block ignore move on.
The reason it got bad reviews is because a content creator named Preach started a campaign against covenenta being locked.
Ao the entire expansion people were crying about that. And now we have lame Hero talents instead.
I thought it was OK. The expansion had good and bad parts similar to every expansion release.
personally, I detested SL entirely.
I disliked BFA but at least it had allied races to somewhat redeem it.
SL had no redeeming qualities at all.
Even world trash was overly and pointlessly annoying with that slow/root/stun crap being so overused…abused…lol.
Its like every shred of creativity left the room at blizzard when they were making the expansion and so they just decided to run with the most time wasting annoyances they could come up with and call it ‘content’.
Even the transmogs were uninspiring and ugly and totally NOT worth the time required to get them.
And dont get me started on the Zerith mortis zone that looked like a kid with crayons did the modeling and textures…
I liked the cosmetics… but everything else was a trainwreck from leveling to end game. Even the raid bosses were not just badly designed but broken
For me, Shadowlands was death by a thousand tiny time sinks.
It wasn’t simply one thing, it was an atmosphere woven through the tempo of every aspect of the open world endgame design that everything from navigating between zones, to grinding world quests, so accumulating millions of anima 5 or 10 at a time took a little too long to be fun.
For me, it’s love hate. Loved Torghast, hated the leveling zones, especially having to take a flightpath that went through Oribos and extended the ride. Loved the Maw, hated the patch zones. Not a fan of Renown and hated the anima system. Wasn’t interested in the story, the raids, dungeons…loved the owl people and the look of the gear.
Overall, one of my least fav expansions.
That’s a crazy statement. Thanks for stopping by!
It was totally a retcon.
The 1951 second edition of The Hobbit changes whole parts of the Riddles In The Dark chapter and makes slight character/personality alterations to Bilbo, Gandalf, and definitely Gollum to make them more consistent with what was coming out of him as he wrote Fellowship of the Ring, specifically the Shadow of the Past chapter. He was unapologetic in his letters about this.
Thanks for the crowd participation. Good to hear perspectives.
Seems like you either did not enjoy the play of the game- grindy, time consuming, punishing, etc.
Or you didn’t like the lore.
So who exactly is this Jailer? What is his origin as the big bad mastermind of all evil? I’m sure I could google this but let’s keep it rolling. #outlaw
The entire concept of SL was absurd.
It made a mockery of all of WoWs lore, from the main story and setting, to the separate beliefs of each race.
On top of that, the zones were awful, questing was the most boring it’s ever been, Snoreghast was a chore and wasn’t fun.
It was the first expansion to make me not want to play.
Someone up above put it right, but in short…everything we’ve been fighting against since WC1? The Jailer caused it.
Sargeras and the Burning Crusade. The orcs invading Azeroth and starting a media franchise. Arthas becoming the Lich King.
The Jailer, a dude no one had ever heard of, is behind all of it.
bastion was too bright though. i had to adjust the brightness each time leaving bastion or zoning into it
I knew I was going to hate SL the moment Sylvanas was a secret super saiyan that made the LK look like a kid’s birthday party magician.
