Shadowlands: Love it Or Hate It

I have my high and low I Love world building and lore aorund it I hate sylvanas windrunner bits And how they massacre my boy.

Other thent hat well I Love setting most area and Not bad…WOD ohter hand now that was pirson of hack time that Overwatch sole and Mess of story to meet a dead line to Ejected to Legion with alot of messes…

Dishonorable LFR that give clown gear for LFR while reward folk dose real raid with cool looking gear.

I mean look at Grirble head in Hellfire… and tell me a Demon hunter not ok wearing Grirble head??!

Mumbles who can’t even articulate a sentence somehow being behind everything to ever happen in Warcraft is by far the dumbest plot line in all of Warcraft. No one even knows what his goals even were because all he did was mumble about vague nonsense.

He didn’t even feel threatening because we didn’t know what the hell he was even talking about.

Too much grind… the zones were phenomenal tho. leveling/exploring was fun.

Glad you found something you like! I am liking current Cata decently.

Most likely, I’d given MoP remix a go and I thought the storyline was cooler.

If you like it then you like it, you don’t need anyone’s validation

Are conversations also considered toxic in your generation now?

Are you ok lol

The guy is asking for opinions on what does everyone think about shadowlands.

I’m going to guess you didn’t even read the front page and came out with some random snark comment * if you do you do if you don’t you don’t * what even is that?

That’s my reply, I don’t care if you like it lol

The kyrian leader hiding hers on her brasier pocket

Honestly, I would not believe much on the forums because here people complain about everything, for every expansion. I used to do it as well back in the day. But it is true that while many complained about Legion and now praise it, they might not do it for SL, so that could say a thing.

Shadowlands has its flaws and too many retcons that I insist would have been better if the Jailer was hinted before (like Thanos was). Had some gameplay stuff, waaay too many mobs dismounting you, Torghast farm that was do it now or stay a week behind, etc.

But honestly? The last expansion I played and kept up to date was Shadowlands. I have better memories of Shadowlands than I have on Dragonflight or even this one, although my circumstances currently are different so that affects it completely.

It had its bad and its good, but I would not call it terrible. Not Legion level perhaps, but not terrible.

Also, Torghast anima powers is more fun than Delves in my opinion. Out of all the things they left out of Torghast when making Delves, was the most fun part. But I assume adding them would require making enemies harder.

All these powers were pretty fun. Summoning the 4 Horsemen as DK, using all 3 prismatic barriers on mage, going invisible with an insanely buffed Arcane blast and dealing a lot of damage was cool.

i think BfA was better than SL to be honest.

BfA was nostalgic

I’ll use your point to reply.

Covs and borrowed power were a massive part of the xpac. They were horrendously imbalanced as well. Most classes, only 2 covenants were viable for good damage AND the 2 were usually situational. One being better for raiding, the other for dungeons.

On top of the imbalance, you were pretty much stuck with the cov you chose. They didn’t reduce the penalty for swapping until what? Season 3? If you swapped prior, you were PENALIZED for roughly a week.

And for borrowed power, the biggest glaring problem was player crafted legos.
They were a massive time sink, and because of the time and mats to unlock the recipes for higher tier legos, the cost were VERY high. And by high, I mean 200k minimum per lego.
If you were a raider or a dungeoner and you wanted to try another cov or perhaps another build… 200k drop.

Imo this was a massive slap in the face to any wow fan.
They turned all the story from wc2, wc3, 16 years of wow… and made a laughing stock of it with the poorly written story and summed it up as THE JAILER DID IT.

Orcs coming to azeroth. Jailer did it.
The legion… period. Just all of the legion. Jailer did it.
Frostmourne, the lich king, the scourge. Jailer did it.
Sylvanas doing bad. Jailer did it.

Then we if look past the massive jailer thing.
They disenchanted arthas to make kingsmourne.
They turned uther the light bringer into a vengeful clown.
The new arbiter… and turning the iconic helm of domination into a golden crown.
Sylvanas going “oops my bad” and everyone (but tyrande) forgiving her.

It was a lot of just bad writing.

And I can’t forget to mention the massive amounts of cut content.
Rushed stories as a whole. They merged s3 and s4 raids together.

Tbh I don’t think this would have been an issue at all if the above story wasn’t so poorly writen.
Like they could have kept a lot of stuff a mystery. Like we JUST got to hear elunes voice for in DF. We know there are more afterlives we never got to visit.
They just handled it very poorly.

And all the above being said… I did enjoy SL for what it was. TG was fun at first until it was forced. S3 and S4 were actually fun with the cov penalties removed.
All 3 raids were good.
M+ was super fun.

SL was a weird time for wow :dracthyr_shrug:

Art team carried as best they could.

But Covenants were a hot mess in their entirety.
Most of the story was garbage.
Torghast was fun.
Having to do Torghast twice a week for legendary gear juice ripped the fun out.
Content release cadence was very slow.
A lot of the content was very grindy.
Korthia and Sanctum of Domination were both garbage.
Zerith Mortis was decent, Sepulcher was okay but hard in some unfun ways.

If you were a casual player, I could see it being okay just hopping between the distinct zones and grinding for mounts and such. But the more you tried to get invested into it, the more grating it would get to the point that the game felt downright hostile to the player, such as with conduit power.

Torghast was forced on people as a chore, and it also gave no gear. It was basically like if Delves was the “only” way to get valorstones and also gave zero other rewards. You are forced to do it in order to upgrade your gear (in Shadowlands case it was required to craft the legendaries, which were required as the entire expansion was tuned around them.)

Extremely alt-unfriendly. I think they didn’t even introduce a campaign skip for several months. Most people quit in Season 1 because it was just a tedious grind. Covenants did not share progress account wide like they do now.

They made healers DPS classes. If groups avoided all the avoidable damage, there was almost nothing to heal. This was really nice, because a healer could carry people who didn’t know the dungeon and still time the key. I personally didn’t mind it. As a paladin I inherently had to dps anyways to generate holy power.

More borrowed power. After Legion Legendaries and BFA Amulet (Heart of Azeroth) people were sick and tired of borrowed power mechanics. Shadowlands just added more borrowed power via legendaries.

The price of everything was insane (it still is). People couldn’t afford to buy all the materials to get legendaries / enchants / gems / etc. They tuned the game around the small amount of people who have multiple gold capped characters and that severely screwed over the majority of players that didn’t.

Anima costs were ridiculous. They still are. To this day. You need like 500 million anima to be able to get all the things from anima in the expansion. They expected you to grind every single daily quest every single day for the entire expansion in order to get rewards from covenants. They tuned the entire expansion around literally logging in every single day and grinding for several hours. Most just gave up in season 1 because of all the no lifeing required.

People really liked the changes to PVP gearing though, and that’s where I spent the majority of my time that expansion.

Oh man. The Motes of Harmony to this day are just a tedious grind of useless mobs for hours and hours. I have all the things to probably make every single mount/pet in the game but I refuse to spend a solid 20 hours grinding the Motes of Harmony for them.

Loved the dungeons and Castle Nathria. First patch took way too long and I thought the other raid tiers were underwhelming but that may have been my frustration with season 1 taking forever and losing interest. I got really excited when I saw NW and Mists back in the pool. Hoping for ToP or Plaguefall next patch.
