Lul wut? Since how was “raid or die” WoD’s issue?
Not sure why any of that makes SL look like WoD 2.0?
WoD’s issues were garrison focus and massive content drought (only 2 major patches unlike usual 3).
Also M+ is still going to be better gearing than 99% of all other content including raiding…so…
What are you on about? First off, the pre-patch event ISN’T SL. This isn’t what made WoD bad. It was a lack of content at all. The same 5-7 garrison dailies every day, then you go to raid or do arena and then you log out. They didn’t expand at all upon the game at all and just added new raids. If M+ was in WoD, it would have been a success.
What’s going to make Shadowlands bad is their failure to change the game beyond the 9.0 patch, where people will be sick of the Torghast grind within 90 days. Where they’ll be sick of doing the same dailies they’ve been doing non-stop since Legion (this time they’re INTENDED to take longer). Where they’ll be sick of the currency grinds that are timegated but required (3rd expansion now that I need to say an uncapped grind you can finish in a 2-3 day binge is better than a gated grind that takes 4 months of playing on a schedule).
The game will revert to the same place it always ends up. Do dailies, Go to raid/do M+, wait for weekly chest. It’s a stale formula that leads to huge dropoffs in subscriber count that get boosted back up by store mounts attached to 6 month subscriptions.
Maybe in 10.0 they’ll listen to the players that have begged them to take a look at how the classes play when they aren’t decked out in temporary items with temporary powers that they proceed to tune entire classes around. Feels like a foolish wish at this point - I’m well aware this is how they’re developing this game from here on out.
Basically what I got from the OP and the people who agree with him is that they want RNG loot back so they can grind WQs and other faceroll easy content to get top end gear on the level of Mythic raiders and high key m+ pushers.
LFR manages to be harder than Heroic honestly. The expansion is almost over and the people that queue for LFR still have absolute no idea of how to fight N’zoth, nor do they seem interested in learning either. They queue, a bunch of people explain in chat and even then they keep forgetting to use their HoA when their insanity is low… It was a nightmare trying to farm a N’zoth kill for the questline.
Well you chose to see it one sided. It seems a lot of people forget is we can have both awesome world quest rewards and awesome raid rewards. WE can HAVE BOTH noone has to choose.
Nah I love being able to play games but in different ways… this is what makes league of legends and RPGs so entertaing… when if i get bored instead of outright leaving I just play a new playtstyle/character.
The harder content will yield you the most reward and its not coming from just raiding… The PvPers during BFA had to also M+ for certain pieces.
In a perfect world, I would see PvP balanced but at the end of the end of day, its hard to achieve perfect balance when in an RPG, player power can tip the balance and it will always be harder to balance, I can understand the frustration of getting one shotted but at the end of the day, player power is involved and you can’t perfectly balance unless you remove the RPG element, which I will disagree on removing the RPG element because one shotting people with a lot of gear is normal back in Classic.
No, you have three ways to get heroic ilvl gear, either do Raids, M+ or PvP (granted it is hard yes), its enough as it is.
Pretty sure you, Ralph and the OP don’t know this term.
If the game’s only source of best gear that comes from raiding and it forces you do it because it is the only source to get better gear than I would consider Shadowlands a raid or die expansion if it were to be a raid or die but unfortunately this is not the case and sorry to burst your ego bubble pal.
In Shadowlands, you still have these three paths to obtain heroic/mythic raid level gear and its not just from only raiding, you can get heroic raid level gear without stepping foot into the raid, how are you guys still calling this expansion a raid or die when you can still get the gear from High end M+ or High end PvP that is the same level as heroic/mythic raid gear? yes one could argue that there are some items from raids are incredibly broken but thats what I’m talking about.
For some classes and specs, not all the best gear comes from raiding,
Fire Mages during BFA needed to pvp for a thrinket for their burn phase
Some stats may weigh higher than their raid counterparts
Dps warriors, Ret pallies and Unholy death knights at least for single target damage, the sword from Kings’ rest is highly sought after if was simming higher.
Do I need to list more BiS items that do not come from raids?
Getting higher gear from group activities has always been a norm since Classic and that pedestal needs to remain, you can still get heroic/mythic raid level gear from M+ and high end pvp, Warfronts were a way to get that gear but it was a snooze fest with little communication needed. if you don’t like the gearing progression of WoW than I would say try something else.
Lets be real, Wod was solid for a lot of its run time, and it’s final content patch was where it fell off dramatically in what we could do, and reverting to actually needing to do harder content for quality loot is a good thing.
