So one of the Classic devs said a quest for a rune involves sending a dead NPC “to the Shadowlands. . .” See it at 24:00.
This is the mindset of the Classic devs. Not only adding a retail-esque ability system to SoD, but tying Shadowlands into the narrative. So gross.
Like I said in another thread, SoD is just a way to funnel people into the microtransaction ecosystem of Retail for $$$.

Apart from being the worst xpac ever and destroying a huge portion of WoW’s subscriber base, the Shadowlands were never part of Classic. Just a retconned story made up by a crazy guy after Metzen left.
Let me preface by saying I detested Shadowlands. The lore was disgraceful.
I think he just rifted right there. Even if not - this is minor. I just roleplay that the Shadowlands dont exist and is not part of canon.

I was a shocked as you were that the Classic Devs are referencing Shadowlands in SoD quests… Not to mention it makes no sense because we didn’t know about the Shadowlands in Classic.

Thanks for posting that interview. It was interesting.
I agree with some criticism but on this one, the “Shadowlands” comment seemed to be like he was saying that instead of “heaven” or “hell” or something. So it sounded like just part of a conversation using the general “WoW speak” that he thought of. I guess we’ll see when SoD actually comes out if something referencing Shadowlands like that is in the actual game.
