Shadowlands is already over

oh, is that obvious? it seems much more likely that people will complain about queue times (since most competent tanks and healers won’t use the solo queue) and groups that can’t succeed (since most dps who know how to interrupt won’t use it either) until it’s nerfed

I dunno why people would think that LFG would magically “git gud” for soloQ M+, or why they’d just willingly accept 2 hour queues and 1 hour runs for a +5 Mists which is what would happen if people didn’t get good, as the actual good players abandon soloQ, assuming they even touch it to begin with.

the problem is that the problem isn’t due to bad designs but people weaning off of BfA’s Loot floods. People want to get raid loot and pvp loot with little to no work and without investing time or money.
Solo Queues won’t fix PvP as all it will create is a ratings nightmare where you will lose due to your partners being badly geared/not ready/ or premades gaming the system as always.

the issue of shadowlands is commonly due to a few factors

  1. Most people coming out of BFA’s 8.3 and the rain flood that made gearing mains/alts stupidly easy.
  2. generations of Content locusts blowing through content in less time then complaining about nothing to do save for consuming old content that they refuse to touch.
  3. overhyping an expansion as always and being dissapointed when it’s not what people expected.
  4. people realizing that a 16+ year old MMO isn’t adopting FoTM genres in its market but somehow still alive
  5. fearmongering about an old guard leaving.
  6. Folks longing for the days when they used to be gods but cannot become them anymore.

“WTF Blizzard, I lost rating because you queued me with a troll who didn’t play perfectly and carry me! FIX SOLOQ”

well that’s at least half the problem right there. they think they’re already amazing. it’s just that the no-good sweaty elitists won’t give them a chance!

True. The amount of “I would be Diamond if it weren’t for all the trolls and throwers” from someone who has spent several seasons stuck in gold or silver in either LoL or Overwatch never ceased to amaze me.

Dunning Krueger is real as hell in online games.

except that it does take over a month to farm enough soul ash for the best available legendary right now. What are you actually talking about?

People also have to carry literally every game at low rank because of the way Leagues MMR is designated. Which is pretty bad to be honest. You repeat the exact same thing people who don’t understand this concept say bud.

Yes, you have to be better than a silver player if you want to get out of silver.

That is how elo systems work.

unless someone in your group isn’t and feeds all day then you have to be a gold player all the sudden. Then if this happens two games in a row you have to win that much more games by yourself. Do you see how reductive it is? This is a bad MMR system. No one is talking about being as good as you say you are. This is a given.

This is my entire point. People will blame literally anything but their own play for a reason on why they can’t progress.

You may get trolls and people having a bad game. And you may lose games for reasons beyond your own play.

But guess what? So will the enemy team.

If you’re better than a silver player you will get out of silver with enough games. If you’re not better than a silver player, then the ELO system has done its job.

adding solo queue will not solve / fix anything, it will just exacerbate more problems

there’s silver rating in this game??

Because many with jobs who can’t spend day and night raiding don’t deserve access to content like the gud players amrite? Some of the not so gud players had all the time in the world and were perfectly gud in prior expansions and other games. But now they have lives, family and kids that prevent them from dedicating their lives to guilds that demand you dedicate your life for a spot on raid night.

In fact a Solo Queue would literally take nothing away from the basement dwellers who make enough money to pay their sub and buy roman and red bull from selling carries. But somehow Blizzard adding a solo queue obviously feels like a serious threat to the gud players. Maybe they won’t be able to buy red bull anymore and will have to switch to yahoo if they want to make ends meet. Maybe your gud guildie’s will even decide they’d rather play with bad’s than other basement dwellers.

Even worse they might meet people who tell them about the world beyond WOW and the real people that exist within it. This might make them feel inclined to get a job and not be guds anymore. So I can see how crushing this could be for those guds who depend on other guds and that gold star to make them unique. I mean who wouldn’t want to live the life of a gud who eats, sleeps and wipes glued to a chair while playing WOW.

Best giggle today. Is that why people are unsubbing in BIG NUMBERS? Nice to know.

Far from over and should be over are indeed two different things. Sadly Blizz doesn’t have a Legion to fall back on this time.

I think most players are upset because there’s a growing disparity in WoW between what the players want and what the devs want. The same problem is what killed Star Wars Galaxies back in the day. It’s a serious issue when you care less and less what the subs want out of the game. You drive away your subscribers until there’s no game left. Shadowlands was a huge disappointment, the content is mildly interesting at best (yawn), no flying, and the covenant system is weak. Also it’s a big disappointment not to be able to solo group content from the previous patch. To still not be able to solo a Legion raid is ridiculous. I’ve noticed a lot of feedback in these areas, but all of it is ignored. Maybe they never even see it, all there is anymore is a canned response and no action. WoW back in the day had an actual GM that chatted with you. Those days are long gone. If WoW doesn’t start to listen to it’s subscribers, it’ll be gone. All they’ve paid any attention to is the hardcore 1% of players. That’s not enough subscriptions to keep the game alive.

They didn’t listen to top players for Shadowlands, they listened to toxic ‘casuals’ (who aren’t really casual – but they’re the players around here whose primary enjoyment from the game is schadenfreude). Top players HATE the covenant lock system, but there were people defending it on General Discussion for months before launch saying how great it was – simply because top players hated it.

Shadowlands punishes you if you try and engage in multiple forms of content. Engaging in multiple forms of content is something a lot of higher-up players do.

Shadowlands punishes you if you try and play multiple specs of the same class. Playing multiple specs is something that a TON of higher-up players do.

sure it does. i can q for dungeons solo. i can q for bgs and arena solo. whats the issue

We better fire him quick and find someone who will right the game’s ship with solo rated arena queues.
