I just wanted you to know that you got a “like” from me for that GIF alone. Awesome GIF.
Remember all the arguments over the past few years about whether the ranged weapon was the central part of the Hunter class identity?
I wonder if any of the people who said “no” to that question want to show up and explain how every single unpruned ability besides Eyes of the Beast is ranged weapon centric along with all our covenant abilities.
No volley was only for mm same as binding arrow baseline. I hope they give bm binding melee been running around like they own the place in pvp for far to long. Y’all remember kiting, I remember it like it was yesterday.
The only thing I’d be interested in at this point would be seeing old survival return somehow. Nothing beat AoE serpent sting + black arrow + explosive shot for me. That was the most fun I can say I’ve had on this class and it got trashed for a melee spec because we had such a shortage of melee. If I wanted to play rogue I’d roll one. We even have ghetto stealth.
Nu MM doesn’t appeal either; immobile, limited cleave, and rapid fire feels bad imo. Previous iterations have all been better. Even marked shot design was way more fun marking and nuking with aoe (and vulnerability was trash). I remember having a blast once I got Zevrim’s Hunger when it would proc, sniping each target fast af back to back. Maybe it’s not the best iterations, but I think that is what mm’s design should be evolving from. Even the RF animation looks “wtf” to me along with trick shot. It seems this playstyle is staying in shadowlands, so I guess MM stays dead to me.
The only spec I was left with before unsubbing was BM and that felt like I was just spamming cobra shot half the time to not focus cap. I believe BM needs more meaningful focus spending besides cobra shot spam. Bloodshed looks like nothing more than a fancy barbed shot, I wonder which talent that will replace.
To elaborate, I don’t find BM engaging. The 1 thing someone might mess up is keeping barbed stacks up, otherwise you have 0 risk of being focus starved for KC if you have a brain.
Maybe use Kill Command. Mainly you use Cobra Shot to reduce Kill Command’s cooldown and hit Kill Command on cooldown.
That’s 1 action
inb4 multishot herpaderp
MM needs
- Mobile AiS (WoD style sniper training bonus when standing still)
- Target cap removed on trickshot
- Scatter shot that doesn’t DR with trap
i would swap to marks instantly if we got that back

Bristleweed Trap: Throw a trap at the target location that makes a path of thorny weeds up to 20 yds long between where you threw the trap from and the targeted location. Trap will exist for up to 30 sec.
When an enemy approaches the trap, an area of bristleweed sprouts up for 10 sec, dealing (20% of Attack power) Nature damage every 1 sec and snaring enemies by 10%, stacking up to 5 times. If this reaches 5 stacks on an enemy, they are rooted for 6 sec.
This looks to be the 4th covenant ability.
I was just checking out the datamined info on WoWhead (yes, I use Firefox with UBlock), and it seems that as of right now, it isn’t just MM that has a target cap; all the AoE attacks are gonna be capped to between 5 to 8 targets.
If Blizzard goes through with this for all the classes, then it means MM won’t be hurting as bad when it comes to AoE.
I’m going to update this post with the latest datamined changes. I’m just having to explain to some people in deep denial about how this AoE change is stunningly moronic.
Did anyone else notice that the cast time for revive pet was tripled from 2 to 6 seconds… I hope that data mine is incorrect.
Yeah it would have absolutely no place in the current game, pretty sure it’s an error no way they are that dumb … right ?
As someone who enjoys current marks, for the most part, I’m cautiously optimistic. TBH super excited for tranq shot. Sorta wish that scare beast still worked on druids but I will still take it.
The thing I miss the most though are not there. I really liked old aspects. Aspect of the hawlk was great. I also miss our old stings. I would like to see them come back in a non throughout way. Being able to choose which sting to use was great, just don’t make them damage or Mana drain.
Another thing I miss as a marks Hunter was raptor strike. To be clear I hate melee weaving. However I did enjoy it in pvp. I liked having that up front alpha strike of damage that allowed you to go in and out of melee. I really want them to use the outlaw pistol and survival crossbow tech to give us a hatchet and raptor strike baseline.
Edit: although tbh I’m more excited about the enhancement shaman changes. The marks Hunter changes and the covanent abilities look bland at beast. I still enjoy current marks though so not sure.
It’s going to hurt BM a lot, for sure. Of course it does depend on the content, but if large packs continue to be the norm then there goes our DPS. BM doesn’t really shine until we have a large number of targets, so if our 3-5 target AoE damage isn’t improved we’re in for a rough ride.
I agree with the majority of this. Out of all my toons, the hunter changes are the ones I’m least excited about (well except for my priest, lulz). My DK, shaman, and monk are all getting major changes that will likely make them a lot more fun to play. Unfortunate that hunters aren’t getting the same.
The only thing I am completely thrilled about is getting Kill Shot back. Everything else…meh. Well, Tranq Shot being baseline is also good. Never should have been a pet-based ability to begin with, as it’s too clunky to use especially when you try and hit it and your pet is in the middle of a GCD already.
I mean I love BM, which is why this toon has been my main for a very long time (also because I play with a high ping and there’s no better spec for that than BM), but I see very little to be excited about here. Our utility has not increased, we are still slow as molasses, we still have mediocre burst, and our survivability toolkit is still lacking.
Some changes I would have like to see made:
- Bring back Aspect of the Pack, and reduce the CD on the current Cheetah
- Make the Posthaste talent baseline for all hunters
- Make Hero baseline (sorry, I get so tired of being asked “hunter do u have hero pet”)
- Reduce the cooldown on Aspect of the Turtle, or give all hunters the BM tenacity pet survival cooldown as baseline
- Get rid of AotW and replace it with Stampede as BM’s major DPS cooldown. AotW is a garbage ability, and Stampede fits so much better with the BM theme. As others have said, calling in lots of pets is really cool
- I’d like something similar to the Gathering Storm talent for Frost DKs, where using Kill Command during Bestial Wrath extends its duration
Actually now that I think of it, making the entire level 75 talent row baseline for all hunters would be a simple solution and go a long way towards addressing several of my comments above.
I’ve updated the post with the datamined details.
Are they even trying with survival anymore?
As someone who serously hates the huge chaotic pulls some tanks do, I like the AoE changes
This is some boomer-tier logic.
