So this has been my same account since '04/'05 and I’ve always done the deluxe or epic versions so I can get the in-game items. I just bought the Shadowlands Epic Edition and got the items. However, now I can’t do pet battles because it says “Starter Edition accounts can’t participate in pet battles.”
Starter edition accounts didn’t even exist when this account was created. Fix this.
You can try a self-help measure, in case your problem is caused by a local UI/stored configuration issue.
Note that if this doesn’t help, you can restore the directories you renamed to get back your configuration info. (No point permanently deleting innocent data.)
If this doesn’t help, you’ll need a ticket. No one on this forum, not even a Blizzard employee, can do anything for you on the basis of a forum post, no matter how commanding you try to be.

What does my UI have to do with the account type changing magically?
What do you think tells you you’re not eligible to do a pet battle? Your UI, and the logic behind it.
You can try the UI now, or when the GM servicing the ticket tells you to. Or not, and hope your problem spontaneously resolves.

Always possible to be a UI issue. License looks funded, upgraded - I’d first try rebooting.

No, but they exist now and when your account doesn’t have game time on it, it reverts to an account with starter restrictions. If you just made the purchase recently and didn’t have game time prior to buying the Epic edition, then it may just need time to process that you now have game time.
Typically speaking, it’s not really something that needs to be “fixed”, just something that needs time for the game to catch up.
Be sure to log all the way out of the game and the launcher and then back in again.

I tried the method Sniperorc linked and it worked but then I had no add ons. Instead, I reverted back to my original folders and used
/console cvar_default
Apparently that fixed it and I have all my addons/settings and can do pet battles again.

I’m glad you found an answer.
I had the same issue last nite and a FULL UI reset did the trick i could lvl on my 120 and quest but no group finder mailbox or pet battles.

Yeah, I also encountered this issue - Using the in-game shop to purchased the EPIC Shadowlands. I exit the game, delete “cache” and moved “interface” to the desktop… loaded up the game again, had re-gained access to my mailbox and auction house. I exit the game again, move the “interface” folder back and loaded the game again… back to normal.
This really shouldn’t be a thing…
It usually isn’t, when an addon’s author is properly maintaining them.
The onus is entirely on them to make sure there’s compatibility with Blizzard’s program.

I use an addon called BugSack which collects LUA errors tossed by other addons. Very useful for identifying specific addons causing problems when new issues surface.
