Shadowlands: Consolidated Priest Feedback (What does and doesn't work)

they can keep the void theme. im ok with that. mechanically voidform does not work. we can go back to shadow orbs and still have the theme they want. i dont get what about this is so hard for blizzard to grasp.

Thank you for continually updating your post.

Go team.

Druids have gotten more blue replies than all other classes combined and priests still can’t even get a single blue post… you hate to see it.

I totally agree with you. I’m not very concerned with theme because making a couple of glyphs can solve that issue (for example a glyph that gives Dark arch angel wings rather then tentacles)

the main issue is voidform mechanic it needs to go.

here’s a wild suggestion:

make insanity bar into hunters focus bar and change name to sanity.
casting spells drains your sanity while Mindblast and Mindflay builds it. also make Shadow Word: Pain proc instant mindblast and resets its cd. this is just a wild half-assed suggestion.

whats sad is the half-assed suggestion with barely any effort put into it at all is still better than voidform

Druids, hunters and paladins kind of just alternate as the most popular class since they started recording that data.

Priests are now the least played class excluding monks. They won’t be satisfied until no one plays it.

Is the consensus that nothing is coming? The silence is so bizarre that I feel like they have to be working on something and can’t talk about it yet, but my hope is dwindling by the day.

something has to be coming. If they are going to address Warlocks not having 6 seconds to summon their pet (even thought they have an arsenal of CC abilities to create the 6 sec window) . they have to be cooking something for Shadow priest.

The question is how much work and effort are they putting in and the quality of the changes. Are they actually reading feedback and listening to the community or are they gonna pull another “We know best” move?

The consensus is that something has to be coming, but since it wasn’t announced prior to the Alpha that it’s unlikely to be enough to satisfy a lot of those who wants to see voidform replaced due to what they see as obvious flaws and a riddled implementation history across the last 4 years.

What’s coming though? We don’t know, but given what we’ve seen it’s getting less likely to be enough to patch up Voidform for another expansion, especially when every change to Shadow we have seen has actively made it worse.

We’d probably know by now if there was a bloody stream this week as planned. I get why they did it but some of us are particularly frustrated with the direction of things so it’s approaching desperation with news I suppose.

I’m telling myself that … " theres no way they are just going to leave it as is ".

I’m just scared because sometimes they actually do leave classes in the dust.

Yeah, the fun for me though is I’m not playing the balance roulette this time. I have 4 characters ready to go. All I need do now is delete Hunter if I dislike the way it’s designed, and I can make one of those other 4 Lacryma. Plus since I have a max level of every toon now, their decisions won’t affect me.

I’d settle for a blue post at all…

If they actually had something, they’d say something. They’ve got nothing. They pulled the same thing in BFA alpha.

Blizzard does not care about shadow. Honestly, I’ve considered just cancelling my sub for good and kissing this game goodbye. If blizzard doesn’t value priest players as paying customers, then stop being a customer

Incorrect. You should be happy that they’re saying nothing because it means they’re actively working. Developers, artists, designers, and managers aren’t just sitting on their hands just because they’re not making any public statements, regardless of the game, especially not in a MMORPG.

“Why didn’t Priest get a post from Blizzard then in the latest Alpha patch?”

Because the patch clearly didn’t have any Priest changes worth talking about yet. The Alpha patches you see are not the latest internal builds, and as I’ve said before, Blizzard isn’t just working on one thing at one time. Public patches aren’t the culmination of what Blizzard worked on between one patch to the next. I can speak with absolute certainty that there’s a whole host of different branches and dev builds. I wouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard uses Jira as their main tracking tool.

AHHHH ok, that makes sense. So if they say absolutely nothing, it means they’re working on something…

“Convoke the Spirits–in this build or an upcoming build:
–Convoke will more strongly favor current-spec abilities than it currently does
–Convoke will be more willing to use the same ability many times within a single activation
–Convoke will not use Thrash if nothing is in range
–In Feral spec, it will more strongly favor Shred over Thrash
–Dodging will work during the channel

Also, this isn’t spelled out, but “current specialization” will use your current Heart of the Wild if you have it active.”

So by that logic, when blizzard makes a response to the druid alpha thread with a response like above… does that mean they’re NOT working on something?

And if them saying nothing means they’re working on it, then why is it that they said nothing in BFA alpha, and we ended up with nothing?

By all means, keep making excuses for them.

Uh…No, it means they’re elaborating on a ‘major’ change. There were no major changes or anything worth discussing in the latest patch for Priests, so I’m not exactly sure what you want them to say.

You didn’t end up with nothing. There were changes made in the 8.0 notes. Secondly, Blizzard already said that they were behind in general for BFA, so, again, not sure where you’re going with this.

I’m not making excuses for them, I’m literally explaining the situation to you, something that I can speak more clearly on because I’m a software developer and understand the when and why’s you communicate to your clients. Again, there’s no secret conspiracy, Blizzard isn’t out to get you or Priests.

Feel free to hold it against me if Shadowlands hits and Blizzard never makes mention of Shadow Priests between now and then, but I can absolutely guarantee you they will given that they’ve already said they’re aware of the feedback they’ve received so far on Shadow Priests.

Don’t hype yourself up guys, limit your expectations. Blizzard is capable of both delivering and failing to deliver in equal measure at least. Clues seem to indicate some notable changes to priest but I won’t go as far to say a rework or retread back to shadow orbs just yet.

For now, insanity as a resource still exists and is planned to be used in some way, that’s all we know.
