I understand what you’re saying and I’m not trying to downplay that. I get it, but will one week really matter?
Idk I feel like a guild full of adults should have no issue pushing back raiding a week or two because of the circumstances.
Also as far as Blizzards reason for this decision, I think they realize a lot of people are going to have time off for the holidays so it’ll actually give the majority of the player base more time to play if they want. Which makes sense to me
Sure, I can understand complaints about how they pace raids. What I don’t understand is the notion among mythic raiders who don’t get paid to do the content that they need to sacrifice time spent with family to play a video game. The idea that they need to spend every waking hour of their lives (hyperbole but you get the point) raiding or else they risk losing a spot on their guild, that seems to treat its members as contracted labor rather than guildmates.
The rewards gained from this don’t seem to outweigh the costs in my mind.
Fun fact, overtuning and buggy bosses that don’t get fixed immediately will probably affect normal and heroic as well
I just want something to do at the end of the day, I’m so over and bored with BFA that I don’t run keys, I don’t run visions, and only raid with my guild at this point. I just want a breath of fresh air, rather than slogging through BFA on alts given thats about the only thing to do right now.
Who’s saying that, exactly?
I haven’t found anything like world of wargraphs (last update Dec 2019). What site are you talking about?
I don’t care if they delayed opening raids but god, some of you are pathetic. Openly admitting you’ll have to choose between the game and family? Get a life, sheesh.
The issue isn’t the ability to push back schedules. That’s what everyone is going to do. 99.99% of people aren’t skipping Christmas to raid.
The issue, as we have seen in the past, is it’s legitimately less fun than having the raid release after the holidays.
Yup, I was in a top tier guild back in the day, 2nd in the server and this is the reason I left. I was studying back then, I already had an schedule, I wasn’t going to let WoW give me another. No many how many mounts and purples I got.
I believe Vowe said it at some point, although with how fast the thread is moving I’ll have to look for it, one sec.
Stuff like this is what I mean. It seems to me that playing the game like this is just like being contracted labor, except that you’re not even getting paid anything to do the content.
I think I found where your assumption may go side ways
And would you rather have content that’s buggy or something you can actually play? Because I’d rather not have Shadowlands if I’m going to be stuck in Maldraxxus grinding mobs to level up because the same story progression quest has been bugged in Alpha/Beta for the last 3 months with zero fix to it.
How does the raid become less fun if you do it on a different day?
Its 2 weeks at the very start of the tier. Ya, it really does. Im not being hyperbolic. I ran a raid guild in WoD over several tiers and it is very difficult to keep a fixed sized roster. No one wants to join the guild that just started clearing bosses a month into the tier. It is a huge burden on leadership and players. If 18 of the 20 want to raid and 2 of us have holiday plans that could quite literally stall it for everyone.
Yeah probably. This happens every raid tier though. Not abnormal to have bugs in a raid
But Im more laughing over crying about a raid being anywhere near a holiday and the adults who think its a hard to choose their family/friends over a video game for a day or two. Thats some pathetic addiction
True, but I want to point out that Mythic raid teams have more than 20 players, for this very reason.
As the population gets smaller don’t get surprised that you more frequently encounter people like that.
It’s not abnormal you’re right, but when it happens on holidays the bugs persist for several weeks because nobody is there to fix the bugs.
I get the upset, I really do. Yes I’m a scrub now but I still understand how important certain aspects of the game can become.
I used to do progression, I know that falling behind even a rival guild, if only by a week, can feel pretty bad if you are intending to land with a splash and push some serious progression, I understand it’s not just World 1ster’s.
For me now though, the prospect of getting to spend the holiday lockdown with SL has made me very happy, as I’m loving Beta currently and I’m excited for live to make actual real character progress.
