Shadowlands book coming july 14

It is an alliance only quest to see them meet the NEs but there are two alliance quests with Calia. Hell, the Alliance have the one where they leave to meet Lillian.

Add to the fact Calia spent the entire expansion living in Kul Tiras and has close ties to the majority of the Alliance leadership and I would say there are plenty of things indicating she may not join the horde. Hell, Alliance players have interacted more directly with her than Horde ones have. Name one friend she has or person she knows well in the Horde?

Plus I believe one of the developers was asked and said Calia doesn’t really fit the style of the Horde forsaken.

You have something against headpats?

Might be good. It’s interesting that they seem to be putting Alleria front and center for the Alliance side of the plot. I’m personally not convinced that the drama of sister on sister violence is going to make as compelling a story as any of the Alliance characters with a more existential level grudge. Tyrande, Malfurion or Genn make the more compelling choices for a pair of people out to end Sylvanas.

So setting aside the idea that Alleria was picked on her own merits, I think her inclusion as a primary character in this novel makes her inclusion as a primary character in the Shadowlands expansion far more likely, which makes the likelihood of a “void” expansion following Shadowlands more significant as well.

Also here’s hoping Turalyon dies.

As for the Horde side of the story, I’m cautiously optimistic. I like Talanji and more importantly I want to see a continuation of the Bwonsamdi/Rastakahn/Talanji storyline started in BfA. I don’t like Zekhan, but I do like shaman and I did like him for that period of time between the BfA trailer cinematic and the Old Soldier cinematic, so maybe I’ll like him now that Saurfang is dead and gone. I’m about 80% sure that Bwonsamdi is going to die to establish how formidable an opponent Sylvanas is.

I loved the sister drama that existed in the novel with Garrosh on trial. It made Sylvanas seem more like a character instead of a villain who twists their mustache.

There was a scene with Sylvanas and Vereesa where Vereesa broke down into Sylvanas’s arms to cry about Rhonin’s death. That’s what I want to see. That’s the sister drama I want to expand upon how this war is defining the relationship between a trio of sisters who find themselves on opposite sides.

So if this novel can give me a glimpse into that aspect of their lives, I’d love it. I love when Blizzard actually explores that makes their characters real.

I’m not sure we’re going to see alot of opportunities for Alleria breaking down and sobbing in Sylvanas’ arms, or visa versa.

Maybe I’m wrong though. Maybe the Shadowlands novel will take a very strange turn into a storyline that I could not foresee. I certainly didn’t expect the story we got from Before the Storm, so it could happen.

If her husband dies as you alluded to, we may see her break, not into Sylvanas’s arms, but maybe it’ll push her into an interesting direction.

I guess I was just alluding to the complete opposite of what I expected when I read how Sylvanas “comforted” her sister. It was unexpected, so I liked it. Like the ending of season one of Game of Thrones. Totally caught me off guard.

So if they can mess with Aleria, it may push her over the edge to do something. Same with other characters. I like it when they take risks to challenge the status quo of the character they built.

The scary thing is that you’re probably right.
God forbid an alliance character/god/etc die to show how powerful the villain is.

A) Varian
B) Teldrassil, Nethergarde, Theramore and pretty much Cata.

And with all of that (which is misleading, it’s a tiny drop in the bucket) the Alliance have overwhelmingly sacrificed less than the Horde.

So you count 1 major character to be more than an entire civilization, that seems a bit odd. Tens of thousands of lives lost are much worse than 1 armed soldier / leader dying realistically.

The Alliance has actually lost much much more, the Horde has just lost more major characters lately.

Not exactly. The quest has Voss formally introduce the undead night elves to Calia and Derek. A surprised Calia offers to help them and Delaryn and the others agree. Which is where the group (Calia, Derek, Delaryn, and the undead elves) then leave together.

It is currently unknown where they are, what they are doing, and what their future is going to even be.

Could Calia and the undead night elves join the Horde in the future? Yes, they could. Which seems to be hinted at with Voss feeling like Calia in the leader they Forsaken need.

Could Calia and the undead night elves join the Alliance in the future? Yes, they could. After all Calia, Derek, and Delaryn do have personally connections to the Alliance and I can’t help but feel that Blizzard will have Delaryn and the others rejoin the Alliance as a way to start Tyrande going softer on the Horde, and just directing her ire at Sylvanas.

Could the undead night elves become an allied race in the future? Yes, I honestly see that happening because I feel that Blizzard is keeping that concept alive for a reason.

You know full well that population numbers are as important as resources and such in warcraft.

(they are not)

were exterminated

and the night elves have just outposts in the other zones you listed, they don’t have their civilians in those zones.

I thought that would be a possibility, but now that I found out that the quest is Horde only I highly doubt it. It doesn’t make sense to send the horde player through a questline that ends up with them losing their allies to the Alliance. If it was a questline for both factions, I think it would’ve made sense, but since it’s Horde only I don’t think they would have the Horde player quest through that over the Alliance player.

2 lives lost is still more than 1 live lost though. That’s how I see it.

I do not see that as likely, as their character customization plans really steps all over Allied Races that are just palette swaps.

Still nelves there. Your culture is not dead.

Well, almost. I mean, a lot of nightelves are no longer alive, that’s blizzard’s official position on that.

That was Blizzard’s official position on Blood Elves, too.
