I think that it depends on who you ask. I think both sides are “right”.
I was merely challenging the assertion that because the post has 2.4K likes that that should matter or sway my (or anyone’s) opinion.
People should think about it for themselves, and preferably actually experience the system first hand before deciding.
The people writing there are Beta testers. They have tested the system. And they didn’t like it.

I think you can guess how much that matters to me.
So they’re still planning on trying to make it work, while readying a backup plan to implement when it fails.
What will be the trigger that would result in this backup plan being implemented? Massive sub loss, no doubt. Can the game handle an engineered failure of this magnitude?
But I can picture the forums full of whiners blaming “forum whiners”.
In the end, there will be a right and a wrong. Nobody’s forum opinion will matter if lots of players leave the game if they feel playing under restrictions like these isn’t fun.
Exactly what alot of us are worried about, that it’s going to get fixed midway into the expansion…
They did that the last two expansions…
Blizzard is not going to let you freely switch between them. They want to try it first to see how it works before they make any adjustments. But it looks like players will hate it.
Players that tested it already hate it so…

Tbh, I think it’s going to be worse than azerite. When we got the news about azerite I thought it would be alright initially, but with covenants, any new news I hear just kills my hype for shadowlands even more.

That’s quite a great post and the amount of support is insane.
I hope they finally give players options to make meaningful choices freely without the restrictions.

Too many people have lost faith in blizzard after they pushed through both azerite and corruptions to overwhelmingly negative feedback, and now they are doing the same with covenants.

There are classes that are border line unplayable in certain types of content, mostly a choice between an aoe ability or single target. For hard core progression having an aoe ability while you fight a single target raid boss will not help you at all. But if you have a single target ability that makes you trash in mythic dungeons.
That could work too - although it would be nice if they unlocked the aesthetic rewards at the end of the expansion for all covenants.

Blizzard, needs to stop thinking they’re going to dictate the game to people. Especially when Ion has been on record scoffing at anything he views as degenerate.
