I genuinely can’t tell if I’ve possibly been shadowbanned or something from chat. my sub is current, I’ve tried relogging, turning off any addons that have to do with chat, resetting the chat settings. I just can’t /say or post in trade, can still guild chat, go on premade groups etc all the stuff that you can’t do when muted. Any ideas on how to fix?
There is absolutely no such thing as being shadowbanned. You’ve either been squelched (temporary measure until a GM reviews why your chat has been reported), silenced (a GM agrees with the report and applies a silence to your account) or a full-on suspension. If it were either of those, you would have gotten either an e-mail or in-game warnings leading up to the squelch or silence.
Now that that part is out of the way - I would suggest a complete UI reset. You’ve done bits and pieces of it but not the full monty, as it were.
Just copy things over to a side folder so you don’t lose them entirely. If the full reset doesn’t fix it, you can put stuff back to how it was.
And even beyond this - always always keep a back up of those suckers. Whenever a new patch is looming, I always create a back up copy of them just in case something wipes, and that also keeps the saved copy fairly up to date. I can reset everything, but I will not rebuild all of those bloody things. I lost them once and just oi.
I am one of my YT accounts. I make a comment, even on my own channel, it gets zero likes, zero views and only I can see it. I log out and I can no longer see my own comment, yet I can see other comments and can see the comments of my main channel.
Dont say it doenst exist when it actually does.
Other games do shadowbanning. WoW does not. WoW will silence you for disruptive behaviour but they never shadowban. If you have been silenced in trade chat, you will know it. It happened to me years back. You will get bold yellow text when you try to speak saying you are silenced and it will say for how long and list the exact day, hour, minute and second you will be unsilenced.
OP is neither shadowbanned nor silenced. Being silenced in game wont even let you type in chat. I wish they would bring that back so that way we could get rid of the GDKP sale spam and stuff.
Well, considering this is a forum for World of Warcraft, that was what I was speaking of. Other sites may shadowban, but they have no bearing on what happens to someone’s WoW or Battle.net account. Blizzard does not shadowban. If they’re going to sanction someone, there will be nothing shadowed about it. It will be very evident that someone’s account is suspended or silenced.
Yes OP is wrong. Both me and my best friend were both silenced in chat. Only for one month is all. Cant talk in any chat, you cannot whisper, cannot invite anyone, cannot send friend requests, cannot send mail, cannot join or create any groups of any kind. That was over 10 years ago and you will know for a fact when it happens to you.
If OP was silenced he would know it. And Blizzard does not shadowban people. So OP should just type /reload in WoW. That will reset his UI and should help him out.
Appeals are not mean to be a discussion, only to review the penalty, and uphold or release it. In your case, insulting other players which you admitted, having a conversation would not really accomplish much.
Insulting other players should result in a mute. Not an automated ban by a robot. Not to mention then the option to appeal it is pointless because the delay in customer service is so bad that the ban is expired before its read. Oh but when trying to log back in a simple bug that’s been present for years prevents me.
How often are these events one sided? That’s why most games leave support to humans not robots. The issue at hand isn’t about a ban anyways, im unbanned. Its about the lack of customer service on an unbanned unplayable account. 15 day wait for someone to click two buttons and leave a note on the account is crazy.
The only automated process is a temporary squelch (or a chat mute if you prefer), which is applied when enough of your realm-mates report you for spamming. Even that is reviewed by a human and, if they determine an account action is appropriate (and ONLY if deemed appropriate), a penalty will be applied to the account.
Every other report, even if it’s just one person reporting, is handled by a GM.
