Shadow priest vs Arcane mage in SL

I am trying to decide which class to main between these 2 specs.

In you opinion which spec

  1. Has more fun rotation?
  2. Has better visuals?
  3. Better mogs?
  4. looking better in PTR?

Shadow just got gutted and remade, you may not get many good opinions on that for s little while.

As far as I’m aware, arcane is relatively similar to before. It has interesting mechanics in that mana actually matters and factors into your damage. However the actual rotation is a bit boring: do this until thing happens, do other thing.

I don’t main either of these, so someone else can likely give more details. But for priests, you may need to wait for a few days while people experiment.

You can never go wrong with mages regardless what spec you play. They’ve always been either the top damage or close to it.

Personally looooooving Arcane. Thematically, Arcane is just so fun to get immersed into. Shadow Priest you have to deal with your mog becoming purple and those silly tentacle things.

Mage all day. You have 3 dps specs, and 1 of the 3 will always be good. For me, contributing to the raid boss is fun. Shadow just has shadow. 3 is better than 1.

I don’t even play mage especially Arcane but after this prepatch and immediately after its update I started leveling this chick.

… and they feel powerful to play.

… and now everyone else is playing it. Exaggerating everyone else as I see Arcane Mages more often now.

As a heads up, Arcane has always felt incredibly OP while leveling…because it is. You make things explode.

It’s one of the only specializations, outside of healers, that actively has to watch their mana. Mana management is our mastery.

Spriest might be up your alley if you like a more dot focused slow caster.

Mage players have been talking bad about that spec but honestly this class is always favored to high hecc so it might be okay and they just don’t realize it

Been playing spriest for many years. After just a quick read through of spells and abilities, I can tell you that it was not remade or gutted. Unless something changes from 50-60 (which I honestly don’t know) then Spriest feels very similar to what it has been for a very long time. Every expansion, barring the prievous, spriest starts great then gets neutered a few months in.

I’m out of updoots but I love seeing fellow Draenei lovers that appreciate their love of the Arcane…even though Blizzard doesn’t like to show it that often. Draenei are the best arcane mages and no one can convince me otherwise :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

If that’s the criteria that’s important to you, then good for you.
