Shadow flame tempered armor patch?

Is anyone else using this app embellishment ? As Ret I’m using infurious boots but not sure what to make my second 450 crafted item. I keep hearing is good but yet I don’t see anyone using it.

Everybody scared to live beta test it on the off chance it does 0.4% of their damage. :dracthyr_nervous_animated:

I got it on my hunter, only used in random BGs so far. Has yet to amount for more than 2% of my overall dam.

I was told in PvP is does very little. I am scared to live test anything myself lol. Just waiting things out. May just make the shield cloak for lulz.

Yeah, it does very little. Like I said in above post, yet to break 2% of my overall damage makeup. Right around 6k avg hit, 10-12k top end crits, and this is in BG so consider those figures have zerk, low vers targets, orb carriers, tanks, etc mixed in. Almost assuredly lower in rated.

i think the idea with this shadowflame patch is that youre supposed to use two of them and fight a large dragon for extended periods of time

it’s really bad

I was wondering because you can have

2 Shadowflame armor patch
1 Shadowflame weapon enchant (2 if ur dw class)

how much would it do for say a fury/ww with 2x patch and 2x enchant?

I don’t think it activates much or at all off like say fire mage ignite ticks

I could see if it procs off serpent sting or MM bleed tics, I’d imagine that would be similar to a rolling ignite? I had it hit 3 stacks off of one Rapid Fire channel, but it’s possible an auto shot could have gotten mixed in there. But overall, yeah its super underwhelming.

EDIT: Does proc off Serpent Sting and Master Marksman dot tics. Procs off Volley, but doesn’t appear to stack any faster hitting all the Cleave Training Dummies with any form of AoE than it does on the single target PvP Dummy. Cannot for the life of me get it to proc off Death Chakram tics tho, tried alot, too. I think I was full of ish when I said earlier it stacked 3 times in a Rapid Fire, couldnt replicate or even get a 2nd stack during scores of channels.

On the PvP Training Dummy it had an average non-crit hit of 12,032 (max of 20,102).
Average crit of 13,783 (max of 16,675 which would be a crit for like a 1 or 2 stack proc).
It’s value is basically equal to a single hit of a Rapid Fire channel.

Buff falls off the moment you go out of combat, no matter how many stacks you have.

What’s also weird is that even though it’s called Shadowflame damage, it shows as physical damage on Details. Maybe just a hasn’t-been-updated-yet glitch.

All of those numbers are significantly more than I saw in BGs, and like I said I haven’t stepped into any rated yet, but I’d be surprised if in arena you saw average values half of what I just posted. It was a waste of 38k, but it’s not like a piece of gear is going to suddenly elevate my game to “doesn’t suck” status so oh well haha.

Did you have 1 or 2 of it. I think you can have double embellishment its not unique right?

Just 1. Heard conflicting reports on stacking (or lack thereof) embellishments. I have no idea tbh.

Here’s another set of numbers, again not rated, but instanced. I’d 100% expect rated numbers to be even less impactful than these BG figures, if that’s possible.

I tried to stay in combat as much as possible, just PVE cranking away to snag as much info as I could in 2 epic and 2 normal BGs.

Combined all info together for an average of:

Buff Uptime: 57%
DPS: 376
Non-Crit Avg Hit: 6227
Non-Crit Max Hit: 14,574 (this woulda been a 5stack hit)
Crit Avg Hit: 8991
Crit Max Hit: 13,547 (3, maybe 4 stack hit?)

And like I said in a previous post, the instant you drop combat the buff falls off, resetting your stack count. This is just seat of the pants, but it seems somewhere in the neighborhood of 30sec to ramp to a 5stack buff, so maybe like a 5sec ICD per stack?

Again, these non-rated #s I’m sure would be higher than you’d expect to see in rated - zerk / tank 50% / FC stacks / orb carrier / low vers toons / etc. It isn’t like there’s an abundance of amazing embellishments out there, but I’da prolly rolled w/ the sporecloak over Shadowflame 20/20.

using 1 stack of it on my alt assa rogue, does like 2.5-4% of overall dam.

Not worth it, Specially for pvp. Atm im just using infurious boots and the melee version of precog but Ret has so much range now with final verdict that…. I’m thinking of using the cape with the shield or maybe the neck for the stats.

For DPS there are not many choices for embellishments. I crafted it on my legs. Like other says does a average of like 3-4% of your total damage. The longer the game goes on the more damage it can do. Ive got like 7% out of it which is not bad. Probably not worth it in the end I will craft sporecloak next week so its whatever. But… if you use two weapons put the Shadow Flame Wreath enchant on them. They do a lot of damage. I don’t think its worth it on specs with a 1 weapon then.

I’ve used it this week, it’s about 2-3% of my total damage on average, seems decent enough for assassination at least. There really aren’t any better options out there other than Sporecloak for when you need more survivability.

I crafted the cloak with the heal and absorb, dunno what else to craft

Literally none of the embellishments do anything besides the boots stat proc and precog lol.

the mastery when 90% or above is really good for classes that like mastery

can make burst pretty nuts

Yeh but as melee spec, I’m rarely above 90% hp :joy:.
