While I’m not against the idea of bgs being released earlier, I feel like more “rushed” content to please the vocal crowd is just another step in the wrong direction, among many wrong steps Blizzard has taken so far with classic, particularly because it ignores the population of vanilla as a whole.
If you notice most complaints come from alliance players that play in heavily unbalanced realms, or players who aren’t max level and are experiencing a form of griefing, which is supposed to happen in pvp realms. Now I get the concerns from this players, and I understand it must suck. However, there are a huge number of realms with balanced populations in which most players are having fun with it. These are obviously, the silent majority.
It really feels like if you cry enough on the forum for something to change, blizzard will oblige to said change. Its not really good. We already had a rushed DM release to cater to streamers, and now rushed bgs for the few complainers on the forums.
In the long run, this attitude will not end well for classic. Just a thought.
Ur the minority… The game is sorely lacking content for the majority of lvl 60s. wPvP is not considered massive content outside of contesting world bosses.
Couldn’t agree more. But, eh they have always listened to complainers. “Squeaky wheel gets the grease” and all. Plus, I love BGs. I guess bring it on and cross fingers I’m 60 by then.
I haven’t really seen much camping in towns or flight paths in my realm, aside from perhaps one or two rogues that are usually dispatched with ease by some 60’s when alerted.
It really is a question of which realm you are playing in. In balanced realms, what you described isn’t the case, except for very rare situations. But most of the times, pvp occurs in farming spots, between 60’s.
I’m probably in one of the most balanced realms (before addon broke it was 49/51), there is constant pvp and people fighting over farming spots, and big raids facing each other in SG/BS/BRM.
But aside from some weekend only massive 40 man raid that is out for blood (which usually disbands after one hour or two), what you described just isn’t the norm, and most lower level towns are usually safe (again, except for the ocassional rogue duo).
Said it in a lot of other places, but it’s not “rushed”. The first bg was released on 7th June 2005, the honor system was originally released on 5th May 2005.
The vanilla experience was 1 month of the honor system before bgs were released, exactly as classic is shaping up.
Bad causal players are just going to be bad. The slow noob smelling the roses is left behind again. Sorry but yet again you are behind the curve. You might be 60 when we get Naxx. Then you can just buy runs.
Its more common than you would think. If you notice most complaints tend to come from specific realms. Other realms are doing rather fine. Sure, if you ask some lvl 50’s in my realm, they would probably have some concerns. But overall the population seems fine with wpvp.
Also, I get it. In some realms being a lvl 55 alliance players must be hell and unplayable. But the root of the problem is the realm culture that evolved into 30/70 disadvantages, and blizzard’s ineptitude in making it worse with free transfers, rather than the wpvp itself.
Ask people to people to xfer? Lose names, guild station, economical advantages
Force server merges? Lose names, guild station, economical advantages
Force xfers? See above.
So basically, because you got lucky enough to be on a balanced realm, screw everyone else eh? You know if pvp happens in farming spots mainly- people still are going to farm when BGs are out, perhaps even more so for valued pvp items (mats to make sappers, FAPs, LIPs, grenades, various eng trinkets, health pots, etc…).
This will do nothing to move farmers- it’s only going to move those solely interested in honour ranking. But they aren’t there to do wpvp, they’re there to get rank- those that want to do wpvp will still do wpvp.
