Servers HAVE to be up by 12am PDT

Yeah but timezones exist outside of the US. What may be an unreasonable time for you doesn’t mean it’s a bad time for everyone.

For instance here in Aus it us 3:30pm so servers might go live at a great time for us and I for one would like to know about it.

that’s Valid. :call_me_hand:

I’m kind of thinking no matter what time they say now, it won’t be good enough for some.

They have to extend again - failure! They made us wait up and now they want us to stay up longer!

They say what time and get it up early - failure! I took them at their word now everyone has had an extra __ minutes that I didn’t get to play because I (enter whatever you did instead here).

Go figure.

Blizzard isn’t keeping anybody up. We are all making that decision on our own for various reasons. THAT is not on them.

hey boss, wheres my paycheck? oh right youre not my boss… heres an idea, take your fat cheeto covered fingers and go comment somewhere else… I’d love to do something else… like go to sleep, but if I wake up tomorrow and find out the servers actually went live an hour after i gave up, im gonna be pissed.

thats cool and all, and by all means- when AUS pumps out a hot new game that I’m excited to play, I’ll totally be ready to adjust to them doing maintenance on their time frame. that being said, 6pm was ok with me, 9pm was ok with me, midnight was still ok, now 3 am… ehhh not too happy about staying up to find out 6 am is next on the menu of excrement sandwiches…

No they’re not technically making anyone stay up but there is science on why people will stay up, if they keep announcing small 2 hour delays, its easier for peoples brains to justify waiting, rather then calling it a night and admitting to yourself that it was a waste of time.

There’s science on nearly everything lmao. There’s some authenticity to the addiction argument many people have made too. This circus has been to town many times before. People have issues lol.

its your choice to stay up, stop blaming a company that has no idea who you are for your own personal choice.

Do you really think activision cares if they keep people up all night?

im having a conversation with @romedi no one is angry here, just talking to kill time

I just don’t feel like they are trying to manipulate us to get us to stay up. They’re just giving a deadline and extending as necessary. You are right about the science of it; I just don’t think it’s being implemented in a malicious way is all.

clearly not lol

If the servers are not up by 12am, I am legally allowed to post angrily on the forums.

Why tell people a lie the first time, or the second time? You really think the three people that they haven’t laid off yet, one of which is still reading through the company values and code of ethics (it’s a very short read) because they got hired yesterday to fill the shoes of two people who had pissed off Bobby because they’d been there long enough to get a few raises and could now afford stale fries at the cafeteria- really have a chance of getting this done in a day?

Don’t worry, you’ll still get a three week long prepatch- when they have to push TBC launch back due to unforeseen issues that weren’t uncovered during the one month long beta that only streamers got to participate in and spent all their time exploiting dungeon pathing farms or doing arena.

They’ll either be up by 12AM or they’ll post that they’re going home for the night and we’ll see where things stand in the morning.

i dont think its malicious, to be honest it feels like they are afraid to tell us its gonna take a lot longer so they keep making empty promises, which is whats bothering me, its not the game being unplayable… its the wanting to hit the ground running when it is— just give me an accurate time or just put it off until you have an accurate time… ive done plenty of “other things” with my time for the last 2 weeks in preparation to be free to get on it when its ready… at this point if they are so dead set on a global release so everyone gets it at the same time around the world… it should just be the same plan a day late-- so 6pm tomorrow… not “maybe 3 am” “maybe 5 am” etc etc…

Personally, they should have scheduled this as a 48 hour maintenance since what they are doing is new. I know all the forum experts say it’s not “new,” but I don’t know what Frankenstein creation Blizzard has made or what/why things are broken. They shut down the AH for 4 days because they expected trouble because of how much information was being handled. So I think they would have been justified in that extent of scheduled downtime just in case something of the magnitude they predicted were to happen (and it did).
