I would fix mob tagging in addition to petris, instead of treating it as an either or.
And petris absolutely save raids, as we saw with the recent HC Elite grief video. How many players were saved from missed mechanics, previously?
You could just keep in combat players from clicking mage portals. Easy fix, like bubble hearth.

SOD is so much easier than classic, I am not sure how anyone would die, even if you didn’t use quest rewards. The rune abilities just add so much power, especially on classes like priests.
