Server/Population Health going into MoP

Were getting awfully close to MoP with no communication around dwindling server population.

Trying to plan for a guilds future going into mop with no information is beyond painful. Losing people that dont have the ability or just straight up dont want to pay for transfers.

Any communication around possible options OR some sort of timeline on when any sort of decision that might be made would be insanely helpful.

Signed a frustrated guild leader

Doubling down on this. Many of my friends and I have been playing several toons since the BWL days of Classic. We are unable to afford several character transfers and for many of us, MOP was one of the highlights of our wow history. The idea of having to pay 50 dollars just to transfer 3 toons is enough for us to quit, right at the time we’re most excited. As stated above, any information on on this topic as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated.

you can always level new toons on a new server. If you started now you’d be ready for when MoP launches.

Not really. If the entire guild started now they’d be able to get at least one toon ready before mop launches. Gear doesn’t matter because as soon as you hit pandaria you’re getting cata heroic ilvl loot.

If blizzard allows transfers in the future you’d already have extra alts ready. I only see this as a win win situation

Thanks so much for the reply! I appreciate you helping in your own way to bring traction to this topic. Your suggestion is very true, however it does not appear to align with the goals of the OP. Overall, the primary point of this thread appears to be requesting for a definitive statement on the future of Grobbulus as we move forward into MoP or at the very least a timeline on when a further update may come out. Communication is a big part in good customer service. Hopefully we get some enlightenment

Starting over may as well play retail or sod no one wants to start over at the end of an xpac its just bad vibes. I’m 90% you’re trolling but ye no thanks.

You have to look at it realistically. The same population websites show interest in the game cratering on all servers at roughly the same time.

Oceania realms won’t be touched.

Bloodsail Buccaneers is the only RPPVE and won’t be touched.

Grobbulus is RPPVP in name only, but if actual Classic overall game population numbers are the best indicator, the problem will fix itself.

Scataclysm just isn’t popular. Who wants to do Dragon Soul?

I didn’t crawl through the pixelated trenches of Classic, bleed in Black Temple, and die 73 times to Firefighter just to log into Grobbulus-H and hear the wind whistling through an empty Orgrimmar. The only other player I saw this week was an AFK goblin vendor. Trade chat is a diary. The auction house? A garage sale run by one guy named “Bankmulexd.”

Tol Barad is a war crime. Alliance win every match by default because there’s literally no one left to queue. I joined a “raid” yesterday that was just me and two bots fishing in Borean Tundra. A gnome drove past me on a Mechano-Hog in Durotar and saluted. I whispered “Lok’tar,” and he whispered back, “Move servers.” I wept.

Blizzard, I beg you — merge us, transfer us, exile us to Outland, I don’t care. We’re raiding Firelands Heroic 25 with 18 people, two hunters in melee spec, and a fury warrior tanking. We’ve wiped so much on Alysrazor we’re starting to see her as a life coach.

We are the last. The broken. The raid-logging remnants of a once-mighty faction. We’ve been to the edge. We’ve seen Deathwing’s spine more than our own guild leader. We are the content.

Merge Grobb. Free Grobb. Before our children ask us what a “battleground queue” was.

For the Horde. For Grobb. For the three people still using Looking For Group.

And for all of this, Grobbulus still has more Horde players in the arena ladder and clocked on warcraftlogs than it does Alliance.

They do this because some degenerate accountant who hates players likely figured out that forcing people to buy xfers and boosts looks better on a quarterly balance sheet than consistent income of a regular subscriber just playing the game.

They want the server populations to be in shamables, because they can SELL you the solution. It’s the big flaw in every title with micro transactions, the company’s every incentive is to make things as painful as possible in order to sell solutions… and it only changes when enough players quit over the inconvenience as to impact the balance sheet in the other direction.

This needs to be looked into. Grobbulus is a shell of it’s former glory. Can we be merged into a server with an actually active population? MMOs function when there is MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER

When you say Grobbulus is a shell of it’s former glory, do you ever wonder why? The RP-PVP guilds are long gone. The WPVP population glut from Wrath quit for Cataclysm and will be back for Mists. It doesn’t need any transfers from any server. Look at demographics on ironforge.pro

We either need server merges or we need some type of discount. I really don’t want to pay 500$ to transfer all of my characters to faerlina + faction swap them, but I know i’m going for every challenge mode set so I can’t just not bring them.

Maybe if Blizz, and the “hardcore” player base didn’t crap all over casuals and the systems they rely on to enjoy the game, maybe there would be more players around.

No means for casuals to experience raids on their schedule / availability. No pop balance in BGs. No restrictions on dungeon kicks to prevent “hardcore” people from kicking less geared people and forcing them into a 30 min debuff… All things that can be fixed, but aren’t resulting in casuals going elsewhere.

Interest plummeted proportionally on Chaos Bolt in SoD compared to other servers and then Blizzard decided to pull the plug on it for no reason, because it was 4k not 40k

People’s conception of a “live” server is sp warped these days that anything but the highest pop server is dead. I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Blizzard kill every server thats not Pagle or Faerlina in the near future.

Im still bitter about Chaos Bolt. None of us wanted the transfer off. We had a great community there with plenty of people for a normal server. I dont know why they think everyone wants megaservers. I dont think any of us asked for that…

I had to bite the bullet on Chaos Bolt after setting up an entire guild there, convinced that it would survive on the basis of not being the streamer queue time server. Blizzard is definitely aware of the reality of how many people a server can support before it becomes a digital Kowloon. Ultimately, with Classic, you have to remember that you are not the target audience.

Classic was able to take WoW from being a nothingburger on Twitch to a top slot thanks to the popularity of Hardcore. It was a huge free advertising boost. People were on Crusader Strike to play with streamers. The game is for them - the streamers and their audience. Regular players are a secondary concern.

Cata gets no new players because of gdkps. Imagine logging in and seeing the price of things :joy:
