I am debating transfering from my extremely dead server to Illidan or Area 52. I play completely Horde. The only thing that is making me think twice about Area 52 is I am in CST and it is an EST server.
Does anyone have any opinions?

I recently transferred to A52, I enjoy it. Lots of guilds to pick from and never a lack of really anything. I’m PST so the only option there was Tich, I think. Either way, I’m happy with A52 is the point lol
If you want to play somewhere for pure ilvl efficiency. A52. Imo.
Area 52!
No particular reason just enjoy touting the supremacy of the server.
Area52 is so high pop your time zone means nothing. Its even hopping at 4am my guy. Area52 is probably the best US Horde server in wow. Illidan is MUCH more toxic and has a LOT of Mandarin text in trade. Between the two id pick area52 without even thinking. If you speak Mandarin illidan may be fine.
However if your focus is PvP? Tichondrius hands down.
I can tell you with confidence I actively avoid both of those servers for my keys over 20.
They are almost every time the ones who leave the key, troll, or are toxic.
As someone that hasn’t played on either server, I’d say being on an Eastern Time server compared to a Central Time server is a non-issue, especially if we’re only talking one hour one way or the other.
It’s far more of a problem if we’re talking an Eastern Time player trying to play on a server that is Pacific based (or vice versa)
One hour is easy enough to adjust for compared to 3+ hours (seriously, everyone forgets about players in Hawaii)
Also, forgot about that. Illidan US has unofficially become the main Chinese server ever since the fiasco with Netease started.
I’ve been seeing a fair amount of Chinese in Newcomer Chat after midnight, and more often than not it is coming from Illidan.
May I recommend Moon Guard as a wild alternative?
Seems like Area 52 it is! Feels sad leaving my low pop server of 10 years behind but its gotten boring.
Your insane. Thats an alliance server. Why not recommend Stormrage for Horde while you are at it lol
1 hour time diff on A52 isn’t a big deal. You’ll find plenty of people on the server who live in a different time zone to server time. Obviously if you’re looking for a raid team, you’ll need to make sure schedules align, but that’s no different than anywhere else, just with 1 extra conversion step.
I want the horde to SUFFER
Make a Trail toon there. They are close to max level and start in Org so you can check it out first. Area52 is soo high pop there is often 3-4 shards of Org running lol
You big Meanie. Seriously though xfers cost people money. Dont recommend an Alliance heavy server for a Horde player
What are the queues like when new content drops? I can remember the huge waits on these very high pop servers at times.
No Q at all unless its an actual Launch Day of an expansion. My Husband mains Horde and Plays there
Staghelm. We need people.
Pretty rare. Limited to the big big stuff like expansion launches, or that time all instance server crashed during peak hours on the weekend and everyone tried to get back in at once…
A52 the week(or so) an expansion launches can be pretty brutal, other than that it is fine(mostly).
I main A52 so… A52. Plenty of groups & guilds here.
CST doesn’t matter. Played on A52 in both EST and CST (currently CST) and I notice hardly any difference, if there is one at all. You’ll be fine.
(Mostly talking about ping/lag but the 1 hour difference is nothing either.)
