Server Populations this unbalanced?

Population websites say Benediction is 99% alliance and Faerlina is 99% horde. Is this true?

Pretty much!

Yes it is true :frowning:

Unpopular opinion, factions that have zero cross play are bad game design, and this was bound to happen.

Hence why they finally are allowing cross play in retail.

That “faction doesn’t matter” stuff only started when the Retail minded players started flooding into the Classic forums.

This was never an issue until blizz made recent changes. Look at the changes that happened right before these servers went from semi-unbalanced to 99% unbalanced.

Look, I know factions thematically, and on paper sounds like a super dope idea, BUT.

Human nature exists, racials are too impactful, and the fact that you can’t raid together as horde an alliance make stuff like this inevitable.

People bash mega servers, like outside wishful thinking what is the other option? People started on a fairly random server at vanilla launch, it died. They transferred (for a fee) that one died too, can you really blame them for (on the 3rd try) going with a bigger server they know will stick around.

Incorrect. It started when people started to bandwagon horde again, and their battleground queue started taking to long.

I mean I came back for faction rivalry stuff as one of the main reasons and don’t regret it. Classic was a 9/10 game for me so worth it… it was pretty great.

The OP obviously cares. You don’t and you say so a lot. That’s fine.

That opinion of “factions don’t matter” was not common here 3 years ago. If you said it you’d get backlash. These days a lot of people who care about faction stuff have quit BECAUSE of the server balance issues. I know people who did just that.

The people who only care about dungeons and raids or gear or character specs or not having a power grind whatever have stayed. It’s a different mindset of players who care about different things. If it weren’t for me caring about things like my guild I’d be gone too because a lot of the real fun is done for me. I didn’t come back to play somethIng that is just like Retail, or some bland single faction game when I could pick from dozens of those.

Also about half of the people on this forum right now who came out of nowhere admit to playing Retail and they will be leaving for Dragonflight almost definitely. The mindset is just different from the people who started out wanting Classic.

Yeah, I mean I want to play with lots of the faction I choose but also want to see the other side. I play PVP servers. When you queue for BG, is it only serverwide?

Yep.

a path that get worse as the game gets to…retail lol. this was them actually not being retail in a good way.

Horde retail pvp on slower nights was how I also ran d3’s last season when at home.

Not even joking. Queue up epic, brawl, etc…and played d3 season on switch till pops.

I could get a solid 40 minute wait on bad nights to hammer out d3. then back in the queue afterwards…back to d3

Many gr runs were run and done before pvp pops.

Just wanted to come in here an echo the sentiment that faction rivalry is one of the main draws of Classic for me.

I actually stopped playing from the end of P2 until last week when I learned I could free transfer one of my remaining Earthfury Characters to Grobbulus–a realm that has 2 factions and an active WPvP/WPvP-RP scene.

Adversity from another faction gives you a reason to coordinate, interact, and organize with your own faction and make friends and enemies that matter to you. And, that basically becomes an endless source of gameplay that remains long after you have the latest raid tier on farm and you’ve farmed out all your PvP pieces.

Factions are an outdated gaming idea.

There is a reason games stopped doing it.

World of Warcraft kills wpvp as the game goes on because of the way it is built.

We are getting heirloom flying in wotlk, my 70 will be flying from the the start of her journey to 80 because my main hit 80 first.

When people say what wpvp is to them typically it’s a scenario of like Tanaris where you’re fighting out in a quest area 1v1 or 2v2, this isn’t how the game is anymore, sure it was a blast in classic but look how unfriendly that system is when it’s 2v1 or 3v1 all the time everywhere you go.

It’s the reason the servers ended up this way.

It was fun in it’s time but it’s an old outdated system that has too many negatives.

yes. and its because blizzard failed to enforce a pop ratio. its obvious some realms like this. (like a pve one) but pvp servers should be capped at 60:40

Yes this is true.

Factions were a cool concept in vanilla that should have been dismantled going into TBC.

If they could rewrite history that would be the top thing i would have had them change at the turn of the expansion.

or at least, you can group, raid, party with the opposite faction.

Splitting your playerbase into two sections where there is absolutely zero chance they ever get to play with each other is just terrible game design.

Its 100% why the servers are the way they are.

I would love mixed factions but warmode so I can pvp both horde and alliance.

what changes? i am kinda out of the loop but i remember the servers being pretty balanced

i have zero issue finding groups. poor excuse for not liking pvp
