No current VPN setup on my machine, and I should not have to connect to a VPN to play a paid game. I get why thatâs a potential resolution, but thatâs an incredibly silly expectation.
Classic/Retail both affected.
I believe Iâve figured out what is causing an issue for many of us.
Firstly, note that: setting my TTY to 128 solved my issue. So I did some more checking to see why going from 64 to 128 could possible make a difference. If 128 doesnât work for you please try a larger number - you can go as high as 255.
It turns out that in order to connect to game, the client is trying to connect to a blizzard server located in RIPE territory / Asia. They probably made some temporary changes to work around the DDOS issues?
I believe that raising the TTY works because for whatever reason, there are too many hops between SOME of us and THAT server of theirs.

Does a VPN fix the issue for you, if so, which one? : No. Tried Newshosting VPN, multiple servers. East, Central, and West US, Toronto and Hong Kong
Is this affecting both Live and Classic connections? : Classic, havenât tested live.
Funny you mention it, because I am using Linux.
EDIT: Just tested on my Windows 10 partition, no problem at all.
