Segregated queue system? Why?

My younger brother and I played wow growing up quite heavily. This morning I convinced him to log on and give retail another try. We are both very excited for classic, so we wanted to have a nice day of nostalgia with some 19 twinks. We did BGs and Arena from 10-19 and had a lot of fun doing so, we loved the new BG re skins, and really enjoyed taking some wins in the arena bracket as well, it really brought back some great memories.

Unfortunately, when we hit 19, our happiness was quickly interrupted. We decided that we had so much fun in the bracket that we were going to twink for old times sake. We stopped our experience and were very excited to get into game. An entire hour and 15 minutes past (1H and 15M) and we soon realized that we were in a completely different queue bracket to the normal players. These lower level brackets are truly not big enough to support a segregated queue system. 9/10 players have full heirlooms and enchants on the regular bracket anyways, so you can’t really argue that people are tired of getting destroyed by geared twink players, the item level difference with the new scaling system is about 1 stat point per item piece if you wanted to max all your gear at 19 in comparison to heirlooms you get passively just for having them on. Why are these players not in a separate queue system then? This is a flawed system and twinks are unable to play the game.

Your community created twinks as a way to enjoy all aspects of game play, because lets be honest, if you don’t pve at end game, its not a very fun time. Please don’t mistake this post for a simple hate thread, I am trying to make positive changes to a game I so desperately miss.

My solution is to simply not segregate queue systems while leveling. The gear gap is not vast enough to support a completely separate queue system when half the people leveling characters in PVP have best in slot gear anyways from previous expansions or grinding dungeons. Please consider these changes as I, and many others truly miss this aspect of the game. World of Warcraft has the word ā€˜world’ in the title. It is made to fulfill many aspects of game play for many different player groups. For the past few years we have got nothing but class pruning to the point of every class feeling the same with different color buttons.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to respond! I’m not quite sure I understand what you mean.

The 10-19 bracket has a high population too, imagine having twinks in the 39-70 brackets = super dead. After 8.2 the segregation is fully integrated, no more xp bug shenanigans. Guess they want us to enjoy the endgame content which has led to many people unsubbing.

It’s viewed as not fair to enchant gear, use heirlooms, ensure you have gear in all slots, etc. Blizzard has to cater to the lowest form of participant (which happens to be the loudest as well).

Yeah, that really sucks man. I think they will come to some solution, there has been a huge voice about this topic, at least from my understanding-- reading some of the other posts in this sub section. Thanks for your reply, and for your voice in the matter.

If only I could still have faith that actiblizzard will find a solution that makes it so all players are able to participate in content they enjoy. Recent experiences have made me jaded and cynical.

TBH I don’t expect much from them at this point - its become clear they only listen to their community at the start of the next expac when they attempt to ā€œlearn from their mistakesā€. All in the pretext of selling more preorders.

When I look back at the reasons why I got so hooked on this game, it was most definitely finding my own path. My first time playing I made an undead mage and found myself at level 4 in stranglethorn vale, a level 40 shaman helped me find my way back and explained some basic principles of the game. Things like looking in trade chat for a group, having to be nice to other players to accomplish our goals, and my desire to PVP having zero negative consequences to my end game play is what made me love this game. You would think they would stop forcing us to play how they want us to. Thanks for the reply

At least twinks can look forward to classic. It’s unfortunate Blizzard caters to people who whine because they aren’t handed everything.

Hello SFK :rofl::rofl:

Oh I am looking forward to classic. Would be cool if they released more than just vanilla. BC through MoP would be awesome to replay.

the reason normal 10-19’s can use heirlooms and not get put in a different bracket is because they’re still leveling. turning off xp in the hopes you can just burn thru noobs is over. locking yourself in this way should put you in a different queue, as you’re saying while beating your chest, ā€œi am better than these players.ā€

…sounds………………political………

So they can use the gear many twinks in that bracket use but the moment the twinks lock xp they somehow become able to burn thru noobs at an accelerated rate? Does the xp off mechanic have a hidden buff to character strength!!!??? Need that to test this interesting development. Thanks, for pointing out this monumental difference.

Political? Maybe. I never did get to vote on whether I wanted xp off pvpers to be put in a separate queue or not, but I guess even Dictatorships have some politics.

The thing is, there are still twinks, how they are getting into exp BGs is irrelevant at this point, but there will always be people who are geared in BGs (twinks) and people who are not (levelers). Justify this however you want, but before the exp off separation, at least both sides would have equal amounts of twink (for the majority of most BGs) to help out the levelers. Now everything is just one sided and whom shall we blame? The people who stop their exp to have a fun in certain brackets? or the people who don’t take the time to gear themselves and prepare for pvp?

As there are not even enough twinks to make their own queues in reasonable time , I don’t Blizz is sweating too much about their displeasure .

Exactly, there is not enough twinks to be able to sustain their own bracket, so by removing them from the general queue they are basically removing twinking entirely from the game. Twinking was a method of gameplay many people chose to pursue because they got tired of chasing the carrot on a stick that endgame grinding has become.

RIP options to enjoy WoW. Play endgame or not at all is the message you send to a playerbase that has been shrinking since BFA came out. Genius…

The vast majority of levelers don’t want twinks in their brackets … Blizz listened to the bigger player base as a company should .

Where was this poll taken? How do we know the vast majority of players wanted this?
