Here you can observe a Ret Paladin in his natural environment hitting wings and using divine toll to crit everyone on the enemy team for 10K+ and then uses 1 templar’s verdict that hits the resto shaman for 21k+ (Video can’t be posted in forums…but from a 3s VOD @ 2200mmr). I don’t feel that any class in the game should have an ability that hits for that much with 1 global. I know this is not an issue with just Ret pallies but there is 0 room for counter play with this in the game.
In comparison as a hunter I have nothing in my kit that can hit that hard in 1 global. Yes I can do a ton of burst but it costs me 4 globals and is completely telegraphed with resonating arrow.
Double tap>Resonating arrow>explosive shot>rapid fire
I think there is also an issue with hybrid class healing. Classes like feral druids, ret paladins, monks, shadow priest, boomkins, ele+enhance shamans all of which can heal a substantial amount and do just as much dmg as pure dps classes. In my opinion there should be an across the board nerf of dps spec healing in arenas, what are people’s thoughts?
Mostly that Hunter and Demon Hunter need significant buffs for them to be competitive on the level of the more normal baseline (DK/Sub/Ele), where as Fire Mage, Warrior, WW and Paladin just in general need nerfs to bring them down a notch.
If you’ve noticed the tone & nature of posts in these forums, you’ll find that you have allies everywhere & almost everyone who doesn’t main ret would probably agree with your assessment, minus the trolls ofc.
I’m happy seeing zero Demon Hunter buffs unless they gut The Hunt.

Yeah but the game is more about balance then rogues not wanting a class that can see through stealth from being good xD

Dunno why that would matter when most classes have the ability to burst for 20k+ anyways.
Don’t think you understand the difference of bursting for 20k and a single button press doing 20k but that’s alright.
I understand the difference, I just don’t particularly care if a class has an ability that hits hard when that’s kind of the purpose of DPS classes in general.
An ability that hits that hard would be game breaking if they received any buffs, I’m happy DH isn’t getting any.
I mean. The ability? Probably, the class? Probably not. It’s not like we don’t have several classes capable of hitting about that hard already.
Monk. Warrior. Mage. Hunter (Although it’s 2 buttons). Boomkin.
Priest probably gets close to that amount over the course of a VF DP. Warlocks can hit for more then that if their Dots get dispelled.

double tap>resonating arrow (aka put all your CC on me…insert monk 30 yard range disarm)>explosive shot(goes off 3 seconds after using)>rapid fire. Yes this combo will do a ton of dmg if you get it off but the Ret in this video simply gets in melee range and uses templar’s verdict and crits for 21k+ in 1 global…No way to kite a ret out for an entire duration of wings. You shouldn’t be hit for 70% of your HP in 1 global by any class.
Double tap + RFS will do 15-17k damage to most cloth/leather users. That’s 4k off what Hunt does.
It is also a channeled ability and doesn’t happen instantaneously. You can see the projectiles coming in and react to it vs oh he used templar’s verdict on me and there goes 70% of my hp cause he got in melee range of someone on my team.
We weren’t talking about Ret, the rogue I was replying to was talking about DH’s “The Hunt” ability.
Lol the initial post was about ret and classes that have a burst abilities hitting for 60% or more of a players HP that happens in 1 global with 0 ability for counter play.
The hunt is less than a second cast time that requires no setup. No hunter uses Double Tap without RA because that would be dumb.
Even if you want to save RA global and DT + Rapid Fire, it’s still 2 sec channel that can be interrupted. You can see DT buff for a whole global to be ready to stun/disorient/disarm the hunter, or simply pop a small defensive CD. Or just start running away cus most hunters won’t Rapid Fire right away.
There is a total of 7 Hunters in the top 500 players, and 5–6 Demon Hunters. Do you really want to argue whether DH or Hunter have it worse?
Well no, because that’s not what we were talking about. A rogue said that no class that can hit for 20k with a single ability should get buffed. I just countered by saying that it’s not exactly an uncommon amount for major cds. Originally I said both DH and Hunters probably needed buffs.

Hunter’s need better burst damage. That, and focus cost reductions.
