To each their own.
Personally, I like playing with high burst and high survivability.
(I probably do less damage AND die more easily as Havoc rn, in fact.)
I play to have fun as well, and making my character as strong as I possibly can, trying to reach the point of unbeatability, is part of that fun.
So if you could keep ALL your current damage, but equip ONE item that has a ton of armor making you hard to kill, you wouldn’t do it, because “dying is a part of the fun?”
Or are you saying that you playing a tank isn’t fun for “others?”
Mostly that it certainly isn’t fun for the non-tanks.
Tank damage has been too high ever since MoP. Even Ion has recently said that they are looking at tank damage, and they know it’s too high.
Right. It’s not a matter if if I could do it because I also have a dk, a dh, and a pally (and druid, and 2 warriors for that matter.) I could play those if I want, and I do play them but I just don’t tank spec into pvp.
I have an irl buddy that’s we’ve all been playing with this expac. Although he played classic for a year, he’s still new to retail. (He was mostly an EQ2 and FF guy.) He’s already leveled 4 toons, trying to find something to play that’s fun and he can also be successful at it.
Well, needless to say he mains vengeance DH now. And yea, we let him come with us into bg’s and casual pvp. He has a lot of fun on it, and of course we ‘rib him’ about him playing a training wheels spec. He gets it, but he still has fun. And he can be successful with it. I think we’re 6/10H right now and we’re also clocking keys up to 11s and pushing higher with him tanking.
Here, I want you to watch at least 60 seconds of this video, and then think about a 3s arena team that is 2 tanks and a prot pally (another tank obv.) How would that go? How long would you play the game at all if that was the norm?
I have alts as well.
In BFA, I mained a healer in Arenas, and I got a mage, rogue, lock, and I’m leveling a hunter.
I play whatever feels “fun.”
In Shadowlands prepatch, my healer got gutted heavily. Playing him wasn’t as fun with a burst meta.
So I leveled my Vengeance DH, and the Hunt felt awesome. Being able to delete 50% of someone’s health in a single cast was something fell in love with, I made the decision to focus PVP on my DH tank. I’m not saying I CANT play DPS or Healer. (I, in fact, pushed higher on my healer last season than I did my tank.) But VDH just feels “fun” right now, so I don’t appreciate folks telling me I can’t customize my build in a way you find hard to counter.
