Quoting from the policy:
Individuals and guilds selling boost or assistance in raiding, dungeon, or PvP activities for gold is allowed but can only be advertised in-game through the Trade Services chat channel. Advertising for gameplay activities should be done by a WoW player-character who intends to participate in the gameplay activities. This means there should be no cross-realm advertising, and there should be no advertising from non-participating players.
[Emphasis mine.]
Does this mean that someone using a level 10 bank alt to advertise, say, Raid carries, in Trade(Services) falls afoul of the rules, even if they intend to log over to another character that can do the content?
I ask this cause I had a group of people shouting me down with âDONâT BE WEIRD BROâ âSHOW ME WHERE IT SAYS I CANT USE L10S TO ADVERTISE BROâ (among other things) when I pointed out that itâs against the rules to advertise on low level characters.
Pretty clear cut the player has to advertise on the toon participating plain and simple
If thatâs the case, then the article should probably say ââŚshould be done by a character who intends to participateâŚâ and ââŚno advertising from non-participating charactersâ. (âŚor perhaps provide examples in the article of whatâs okay and whatâs not okay.)
âWoW player-characterâ and ânon-participating playerâ are a bit ambiguous which people are all too happy to take advantage of.
Strait from the policy i dont get wheres teh confusion
should be done by a WoW player-character who intends to participate in the gameplay activities
âWoW player-characterâ (and ânon participating playersâ) makes it sound like it applies to the player, making them think itâs okay to use a L10 to advertise, then swap to a L70 to do the content once they get a buyer.
At least with ââŚshould be done by a character who intends to participate in the gameplay activitiesâ, thereâs no wiggle room to abuse for justifying advertising on a L10.
All i will say is keep reporting and let blizzard make the final call they may give some clarification in the morning.
