My wife and I both play WoW. Her computer can handle the game, mine can’t. So I use the GeForce NOW service (Basically, cloud gaming wow). But each time I login, I am likely to be on a different server, so I get asked to Authenticate my account constantly to login. I pick the Email me the security code option. Usually that works fine. Today though after the Tuesday reset, I can only login using my wife’s PC.
I connect to GeForce Now. Then launch WoW. I get past the initial login (picking WoW2, which is my active account), then it asks me to do the security key. I check my email and type it in EXACTLY as it says (5+ code resends, typing only the last code received each time). The second I type in the very last character in the code, it reloads the ‘enter the security code’ screen. I even let my wife try to get past the security code. We are deleting the old emails from Blizzard each time before requesting for a new code to be resent.
I have reset my laptop and even tried to log into the forums from that laptop. Same thing… can’t get past the security key.
Now… I go over to my wife’s PC, and I can login just fine… no security code popup at all. I can even login to the forums, so here I am. Wife wants her PC back so she can play. I cant play on mine at all… or even make posts from it.
Also, if this matters, I don’t use the authenticator app.
Unfortunately, you’re not likely going to find a whole lot of support when it comes to using Cloud Gaming services as they’re not allowed as per the EULA.
Secondly, I also hope that you both have your own battle.net accounts (separate emails) that you use to play.
Yea, surprised it hasn’t been yet, even though the Support articles are being updated.
Though the underlined area might just be how they wish to have it worded.
v. Cloud Computing: Subject to 1.B.vi hereof, use the Platform, including a Game, in connection with any unauthorized third-party “cloud computing” services, “cloud gaming” services, or any software or service designed to enable the unauthorized streaming or transmission of Game content from a third-party server to any device. For the avoidance of doubt, this Section 1.C.v does not prohibit the use of any service that has been authorized by Blizzard.
got it working after a few hours last night. No idea what fixed it. Just ended up playing on the wife’s PC for the night, then it worked after I was done when I checked before bed.
Also, yes, we both have our own accounts ever since Molten Core was the big raid.
It seems GeForce NOW is running special versions of WoW; for example, if you use the free 1 hour service, you absolutely can’t see the addons button on the ESC menu, nor can you use them… If you use the paid service, you can though. I figure if they are editing the distributed code, its potentially their fault.
