I can confirm this!!
I uncombined my bags, and it was ONLY the bag that had the messed up item in it that was not allowing me to see/use the items within.
On a hunch, I went to my bank, and just CLICKED and DRAGGED the invisible item (stupid I know) into my bank vault, and POOF my freaking inventory started working again.
Has to be a bug from the mystery chest being kept in the bags after use.
This works as a temporary fix. Thank you
Hubby and I are having the same issues. Even closing the game entirely and relogging isnât fixing the problems. At this point, the backpack is strangely transparent and attempting to move items into the backpack results in the icon becoming invisible, but still with the tooltip indicating it is actually there.
We were able to keep following the quest chain to get to the dayâs finish, which Iâll keep mum about, since itâs sekweet and all, but I will say that other anomalies happened along the way, such as a drawing that was âhandedâ to me and the chat said I had it âlootedâ but it was NOT in my inventory, and yes, I hovered over all the invisible slots and searched for it. Luckily, since hubby got the map, we found the location, leaving me to wonder if youâre in a party, if only one person is going to get some of the clues.
Buuuugggy! Still fun and rewarding if you soldier through. Although, it sounds like itâs having more dire game-breaking effects for some, so I sure hope itâs something that can be figured out and fixed soon!
Itâs doing the invisible thing to me, too, but only in one bag, from which I happened to shift an item into the bag with the chalice/spear and notes.
I have now completed the little questline of the day with some small difficulties. Iâm still capable of switching equips, using trinkets and items, hearthing, etc. but I also have a â?â item taking up a spot in my inventory still. I suppose Iâll free up a bank bag and just start dumping these special broken items into it until this is fixed lol.
To clarify: The special â?â item is what makes everything invisible in whatever bag itâs placed into. It wonât have a tooltip when you hover over it, itâll just be taking up a blank space but is moveable and appears as the â?â at your cursor when you pick it up.
I just found the â?â object in my bags! But I canât seem to get rid of it now⌠GRRR!
Upon accepting the first quest, all the items in my inventory except for the reagents bag turned invisible.
Find the ? object in your invisible bag and see if you can get rid of it.
I was able to place the offending â?â item into a spare bank bag for the time being.
Iâve found a solution people! itâs only temporary but it DOES give you your bag back! Take the mystery item and put it in your bank! My bags returned to normal after that. You canât delete it or vendor. Itâs the only way to get rid of it.

Itâs still there, you have to click each invisible slot where you donât see any item detail display. Then click and drag to see if it pops up. It wonât show up if you hover over it.
Some other people have been posting that theyâre getting the invisible inventory bug at different stages in the questline⌠itâs possible youâre getting multiple â?â items put into your bags.

jesus youâre right. it was still there just⌠no mouse over. i clicked on my empty bag slot and it was a ?
moved it to a bank spot.
Everything in my second bag is âphased-outâ, but I can click on the slot to read it. Making this quest not enjoyable. Unable to fixed bag issue even after logging completely out of the game, restarting my computer and re-logging in to the game.
I donât have a ? item in my invisibles bag. =(
Stuck with this invisible ? item messing up all the icons of whatever bag itâs in myself. Cannot destroy it either, itâs just movable and invisible.
The invisible ? happens if you talk to Bobby Carlisle. Itâs for tomorrowâs quest and was able to be accepted a day early.
Can confirm, I think thatâs what bugged mine too. My bags were messed up, I put what I could in the bank. When I went to Northrend, the bag that was bugged was working again, and the only thing in it was the note from Bobby Carlisle, which I canât do anything with.
I think that is the problem!
