What a terrible choice! I would avoid this going forward lads.
Boo, leave the politics at the door.
I didnât mention politics at all. Thereâs a national debate on tonight. The first night of the season. I wouldnât have made the same call.
much that I am going to vote the felon, he did a crappy job last night not to defining Harris and he got disracted ever since she attack him on crowd sizes. Winner is Harris. Dose that move the needle in her favor? I personally donât think so, no one really know what sheâs stand for. but overall Trump was Trump in not a good way and Harris held on her own.
I donât see how people keep saying Harris was the winner when her answers were 100% empty and scripted.
Did she speak well? Sure but thatâs easy to do when you know exactly what to say. We know she doesnât speak that well on the fly. Plus her insults didnât quite land the way they should. Itâs clear she was told what the questions would be, her team told her what Trumpâs likely response would be to the questions, and she had a scripted insult ready to go. But I donât think her writing team expected Trump to keep hammering on his two points (the economy and immigration) no matter what the question was so sometimes her insults or reply had nothing to do with what he just said. It was really, really weird.
For me that was really obvious when Trump accused her of dropping the ball with Russia and Putin, how she couldnât negotiate with him, so David Mulehead asked her âVP Harris how many times have you met with Putinâ and without missing a beat, and acting like she was proving Trump wrong said âI met with Zelenskyy five timesâ and it was almost like I could hear her add âdummyâ to the end of that.
But I do agree with you that her scripted answers didnât move the needle a fraction of an inch for me.
I am just disappointed at Trump how he took that bait. Rally size doesnât win you a election. The 1st half he did ok but other half he lost control and that frustrated me. If he really wants to win this election, he needs to put his ego aside and hammer her on policy.
Lucky for him, the election is less than two months away and everyone will forget this debate, but he canât afford another disaster debate (if we do get another debate.)This is a will be a consequential election that could change the country forever.
Cost of living sucks right now under this Biden/Harris administration and do we really want to deal another four years of that? I want him to win but he needs to get head out of his rear-end and convince American people why sheâs not up to task. If he loses, its not because it was rigged or stolen, he didnât win people over because of his ego and he will be very likely to go to prison
Whats Trump going to do for the cost of living? His two big proposals are going to drive up the cost of almost everything.
Drill at our shore. End the Ukraine and Russia ear which we spending billions to trillions of dollars to country that no one can find on a map. Stop the flow of illegal immigrants which it has been a burden to the taxpayers. I love for congress to stop spending our money recklessly but that will never happen sadly. If you think Harrisâ price gouging is going make things better youâre sadly mistaken.
His two big policies are a 10% tarrif on imports. And deporting X number of non-citizens.
Maybe thats good. But it without question will increase costs.
Regarding the wars. We pulled out of Afghanistan. That should have saved us billions. I havenât seen a reduction in anything.
I hope he does whatever he did last time. Gas was down to $2 a gallon where I lived (Ohio) and it didnât break the bank to go the grocery store.
Harrisâs tax break proposal is garbage. If you look at a graph of the US population and sort it by age, the 20 to 29 age group, which is prime baby making age, is not the largest. The largest is 30 and 40s. Women generally, not always, stop having babies in this age range and 40s is again, generally, when your kids start leaving the house.
So how is this $6000 tax break going to help the majority of the population of the US? Itâs going to do absolutely nothing for adults 40 and up. I want a proposal from someone thatâs going to help EVERY American, not just the ones popping out babies or opening small businesses which as we found out during COVID is easily scammed. âOh my boyfriend and I have a small business making, huh, bracelets, yeah and need that COVID relief check for my âemployeesâ.â And they got it. Iâm sure theyâll get this 50k credit she was talking about too.
Who said that? Harris? The experts sheâs paying? Both sides can hire experts that will tell you the otherâs plan will drive prices up and theirs will save the economy.
Iâm going with what I know. I know that when Trump was in office, every thing was cheaper. I know when Biden was in office, every thing got more expensive.
Ill be 42 this November. My daughter is 2 and a half.
Vote for who you want. I dont care. But tarrifs have never lowered prices. They even drive up prices for domestic manufacturing because theres less competition and the market allows for more increase.
As for the deportation, non-union construction is going to lose about 25% of the workforce (if people actually get deported). That gives ghe remaining labor bargaining leverage in thwir wages. Good for them, not arguing that. But not if youre paying them. Directly or indirectly.
Look what happened during COVID. Wagea went up like crazy because the labor market was too tight.
Vote for Trump because you like his tie for all i care. But prices will not drop dramatically. The president doesnt control the price of eggs.
Ok and I addressed this.
I also addressed this.
Look, man. We dont need to fight. You said.
I disagreed. Thats all.
Excuse me mâam but I wasnât fighting, I was just having a discussion.
And I was pointing out that I already addressed that.
I said âgenerally, not alwaysâ. I said it twice.
Well i hope your eggs get cheaper.
I have an egg intolerance.
Ok wellâŚcoffee?
In that case me too.
People said Harris was the winner because she actually had answers. Much like the first Trump/Biden debate, Trump didnt actually respond to any questions that were asked of him. Then he goes on weird unhinged rants and starts in on that âeating the petsâ nonsense and it pretty much just ended with only one of the people on stage actually engaging with the debate in anything resembling a rational manner.
Saying âwell her answers were empty and scriptedâ is so weird because like⌠yeah? She prepared for the debate, of course sheâs going to practice her responses. Thats what politicians normally do. And when they dont prepare, you get whatever nonsense the orange man displayed that night.
Biden has approved ~10,000 drilling permits during his term, which is almost exactly as many as Trump did during his. The oil companies can drill whenever they want. Thereâs literally nothing stopping them. And the Ukraine/Russia war funding is not even remotely affecting the cost of living in the US.
If youâre concerned about the cost of living, you should be REALLY concerned about Trumpâs idiotic tariff plan. A 10 percent worldwide tariff and a 60 percent tax on Chinese imports would make the price of virtually everything skyrocket, and you dont need to be an economist to understand why.
Scripted answers so theyâre worth nothing.
The lady moderator admitted that they had fact checks ready to go for Trump only because they didnât want him to win the debate like he did against Biden. This is also why Trump was fact checked five times and Harris zero.
And itâs really telling that she refuses to do a debate on Fox because we all know they wonât feed her the questions.
Based on questions being given to her beforehand.
Why? He did it when he was president and the cost of living was lower than it is now. Also, you do realize that the âidioticâ tariffs that Trump did in 2016 or whenever were never removed by Biden, I hope? I mean, Biden was wielding his veto pin like a sword but for some reason that was safeâŚ
Btw, if you want to talk about being concerned, this is what Iâm concerned about. Harris, not even a week ago, was asked point blank what she would do about the economy and inflation. Her answer was, rough quote, âI grew up with a middle class working motherâ and âpeople are very proud of their lawns.â
And whatâs even more concerning is I can only find this story on Fox, which Iâm not going to click on, and the New York Post, which references back to Fox. The media buries her blunders and ramblings to protect her and that should scare every American. We should not allow the media to influence us to this degree. The biggest enemy to this country isnât Trump or Harris, itâs the media. Theyâre no longer interested in telling the truth.
p.s. And just to clarify, Iâm not some Bible-thumping, MAGA hat wearing loon. Iâm an Independent that votes for who I think is the best candidate.
In 2008, I voted for John McCain because I think he slaughtered Obama in the debates. In 2012 I voted for Obama because Romney is trash. In 2016 I voted Hilary because I didnât know who the hell Trump was outside of being a celebrity plus I thought she did better in the debate. I voted for Trump in 2020 because Biden has dementia and Iâm going to do the same very soon (probably going to vote early) because Harris has not given a straight answer beyond giving a few select groups tax breaks and she being protected by the media the same way Biden was.
And these are just the quick reasons why. I watched all the debates from 2008.
