I used to trade alot of gold between retail and classic. Advertised my trading on the forums and have never been warned, actioned or banned.
As to the people claiming they have been banned for this, my thoughts are either they are lying and they purchased gold or the person they traded with purchased the gold and whatever new system blizz has in place is flagging and banning them as collateral damage. I think gold buying on their behalf is more likely though.

Asmon is a liar for views. He lied about how player reports work, he is lying now. CS forums have an active thread right now about this. I trust the company making the game over a talking head who has been wrong multiple times.
And if those legit players appeal chances are they will get an answer one way or another. WE do not get to see the investigation but that does not mean it wasn’t done.
Chances are someone claiming to be a legit player who was banned, yet chose not to appeal, then they probably weren’t legit in the first place.
Then why are there people posting in customer support that they got banned and never bought gold?
