I just hit 11. I’m not really trying to level, I’m working on mining and blacksmithing, as I need silver, badly. I’ve managed to pick up 4 runes so far. And I’ve even joined a guild. I couldn’t help myself… I saw them looking for signature for the Earthspear clan… I had too. lol. I keep losing my character though, I’m used to looking for female tauren.
It’s so cool to see people in Thunderbluff and Crossroads. And Orgrimar is so different!
I’ve got a hunter at 13, and a pally and a mage at 6 each. And that’s enough for now I think. I’ll level them steadily and try to get rested XP on them as much as I can.
I’m hoping they do the next leveling increments on a smaller scale. I’d like to see 26-35, 36-45, etc. I can already see some players leaving the rest of us behind and wanting the leveling opened up quick because they rushed to level cap. There were still a lot of people in the starting zones last night, so while the initial run that made queues happen is over, we still have lowbies and I’d like there to be a reason for the rest of us to get to 25 without feeling like ‘what’s the point’.
I was always mildly annoyed with Orgrimmar’s update in Cata.
It’s trapped in reconstruction forever.
Thematically it feels like a mess. You have the warchief seat next to chicken vendors, brew fest NPCs, the trading post now.
I would have imagined Garrosh would have placed his seat surrounded by the might of the horde, specifically it’s military and have barracks and weaponry and soldiers training and fighting. I don’t know if it’s because Blizz didn’t have an orc city to riff off of from some other established setting but I just could never like it after the redesign. It feels more randomly designed than intentionally designed.
I’m also a stinky former undead main and loved RPing in Undercity, Brill and occasionally Crossroads.
I was chuffed at my not-dying skill in Hardcore but I’m dyin left and right in SoD lol. I think the spawn rates must be fairly high right now 'cause I was getting surrounded by wendigos and brewnall wildlife a lot
It seems very silly to me that their solution to people tagging all the mobs is to increase their spawn rate and not, I don’t know, making multiple tags a thing. You’re already making Classic+, might as well add in a quality of life feature for everyone’s sanity.
I’m with you on the tagging, though I have to say that not having it has already forced social interaction for me multiple times over the past two days – accepting party invites, and then partaking in conversations.
It made me nostalgic for how I (and I assume many of us) met people back in the day. By chance – circumstance, time, and a bit of extroversion on the inviter’s part.
So far, no-one has made it to my friend list, but I’m still trying to find the positives, I guess.
Side note: a priest tossed me fort and it meant so much. It really is a different game.
I think some of us rolled on Chaos Bolt to get away from streamers but there is still RP on Crusader Strike. I’m sure people have characters on other servers too.
This might be a complete aside but do you guys think they should add different “game mode” servers (like hardcore and SoD) to retail? Or is it really only suited to classic?
I think it could be fun. It is interesting to think about what sort of “game mode” would work on retail though. Hardcore would feel a lot different in retail since the world just isn’t that dangerous–do you go for a server with permadeath and boosted world enemies? What about tweaked XP gain since leveling is so fast in retail? How do you handle flying mounts and the abundant amount of safety they provide?
It might require too many changes to really be feasible, but I would love to see some kind of experimentation on retail to shake up the formula of “m+/raiding is everything”.
I’m on Lava Lash. It is an RP server, just not a RP PVP server. I have seen some RP actually. The guild I joined intends on doing some events and like I believe, but we are still getting ourselves together.
I decided to roll on the RP PvP server Chaos Bolt myself. Haven’t seen a lot of RP, but I HAVE seen it happen. A few of my old guildmates from 2007-2008 actually resubbed just to try out SoM and we got a storyline going.
I love fresh starts just cuz of the RP that tends to arise from it. Least, for me.
