Season of Discovery Developer Update - Feb 27, 2024

You’re one of many who paid full price for their mount - Myself included.

Think about it; now that we can actually level our alts with the giga exp buff, do you want to spend 100g for each of their mounts? Me neither.

Just to add onto my suggestion about turning on the premade group finder and considering RDF, I really think part of the decline you see in players in PvE in particular is content accessibility. A bunch of people would probably love to mess around in PvE content on various alts, but the time consuming grouping of classic is just a huge turnoff for all but era players.

People just want to log into the game and get into action faster and going too hard into the vanilla classic lane just doesn’t allow for that. Travel is slow, grouping is slow and people will just go do something else rather than even spend the time forming groups for things.

You should absolutely just put the changes in immediately… What are we supposed to do for the next week?

My guild are excited to not organize 40 player raids if that’s what happens.

I feel that the 40 man raids are one of the defining features of classic. A common complaint is that the 40 mans are usually 20-30 “good” players carrying dead weight players, but I feel that’s sort of overblown.

40 player raids with more modern mechanics would be a lot of fun, and gentle personal accountability checks like Geddon’s bomb would keep the “soda and pretzels” feeling.

Any word on how the PvP sets are going to be handled? The blue Lieutentant-Commander set and the epic Grand Marshal set. Are they going to be buffed? Have you thought about making the blue set available at level 50 to make it useful? There is no need to have 2 different PvP sets locked at 60, while the previous phase gets nothing.

So half price mounts from 1-25, then a couple weeks of full price mounts, then a cost reduction? The sweatiest players who grinded gold in p1 rewarded with a cheap mount, and then the lazy players rewarded with a cheap mount, and the players who just wanted to play the game had to play full price? I’m hugely in favor of mount cost reduction in a seasonal game mode but really this feels bad for those of us who didn’t jump on the p1 exploit and then put in the work to try and get our mounts early. If I’d have knew this was coming I’d have gladly waited, it’s the sudden change without warning.

Amazing to hear. Love the EXP changes, glad I held off a little bit on my alts. I hope you guys figure out a solid way to continue doing 20 Player. I think for SOD it is absolutely the right decision. Hope you guys consider taking the time to scale them! My guild is excited about this news!

Waffling around on raid sizes makes recruiting and running a guild a lot harder. Having 20 mans then going to 40 mans and needing to have groups comped for extra tanks and healers etc to run in the 20 mans might not fit together when you smush them together to make the 40 mans. I wish the team would just pick a lane for end game raiding.

We want affliction dots to be fixed. OR Searing pain to be shadow/flame for meta. - Warlocks

We want warriors to be a bit tougher in pvp. - Warriors

DISCOVERY is the key word. The world should be used. Raids/pvp should not be the only end game gear. There should be rewards for heading off the beaten path. Fishing in weird places. Hidden mobs. Hidden backstory. A special drop when killing a murloc at night in the rain. Get people away from the lazy raids and make them do some exploring and culling some of the bad. This is the problem with the retail wow themepark. 1000 different systems in the game, but only 2 paths to max gear.

Aggrend I’ma let you finish. But Hunters are the worse scaling class of all time! Can we please look at stat scaling to save the ‘free’ ranged Hunters?

I understand that dealing with the powercreep and reworking lvl 60 raids may be a lot of work. However if you stick with 20 mans over 40 a lot of players that are currently playing and waiting for the 40 man end game will quit. Personally the 40 man raiding is the best part of the vanilla endgame. The amount of effort it takes to form a consistent roster (without the incentive of GDKP payouts) made players commit to guilds and raid teams. What you are purposing cuts that work (and the social commitment that came with it) out of the game.

Don’t change 40 man raid sizes. Your fans do not want this IMHO.

I think this adds to replayabilty as it makes having multible characters far more realistic to manage. Esp in a game designed to try tons of new things.

I’d like to know the plans for under-populated servers. We have a decent community on Horde side Lava Lash, but we are dwindling

Funny part what is the point of playing this game anymore might as well just give me a free lvl 40 with a mount with full gear at this point. Also changing original raids to 20 mans worst thing blizzard can do GRATS RUIN your own game and u think people will come back to play cus u make it easier no. GRATS RUIN UR GAME

I got the impression from that that they skill plan on having 40 mans eventually. Im fine with MC being 20 man
