Season of Discovery Developer Update - Feb 27, 2024

Hugely, hugely appreciate the xp buff and gold changes. While that won’t make a difference for my main, it’ll make a huge difference for any alts I have that I don’t currently play. Same with the mount cost change.

Please don’t nerf hunters anymore but change how things scale for the benefit of all of us, not just hunters.
Mildly tired of playing a class that finally got some fun, new changes, only for said changes to be rolled back or removed in one way or another.

With regards to 40 man raids and changing them to be 20 man raids, I am extremely interested and hopeful that the team will work on this. It’ll make raiding much easier for my group of friends who conquered Molten Core with 20-25 active raiders at our peak a few months ago. I know my group of friends and I would welcome a scaled raiding experience so we don’t need to worry about getting 15-20 randoms and then raging because the PUGs don’t know how raiding works.

I was never a hardcore raider in vanilla or even now in Classic, the furthest I’d ever gotten with a raid that wasn’t a boost has been BWL but my group of friends and I managed to conquer all other challenges up until BWL with relative ease, even with a group of 20 people rather than a full 40 man group for Ragnaros.

Looking forward to what the team can cook up.

Any next expansion has always rewarded the players who don’t play the game.

Experience is boosted for those who didn’t play, gold rewards are boosted for those that didn’t play, and gold expenses are reduced for those that didn’t play.

Lesson learned, don’t play the game until changes are made. This isn’t Era.

the answer’s in his post. they’re gonna make gear that caters to traditional offspecs. ranged hunter isn’t an offspec. thus ranged hunter will be doomed for all eternity.

your only recourse is to lvl a boomkin, shadowpriest, or enh shaman

Sounds about right.

Awesome changes, really glad to see all of this and looking forward to what y’all are cooking up!

ive already started. just gotta regrind wsg to exalted and get my priest the raptor too and we’re set

This is AMAZING info. Thank you @aggrend <3

However… you’re forcing me to take a week vacation from WoW.

See you guys next week!

I am in favour of 40 man raids.

I like the direction you’re going here.

You are correct and I fear for my own guild, that many may not be able to meet the needs to field 40 plyers. We have however built teams within the guild but for various reason many just haven’t returned to max level.

It could be daunting to them to level in this bracket and maybe with the increase in experience gained all the way to 39 it could entice a few back.

I do have other feedback though.

I personally haven’t been involved in a GDKP run or a carry run even though I am more than capable to participate to help others see the content. That said I have a guildmate that did participated in 4 GDKP raids in Dec/Jan(effectively 2 weeks of raid lockouts), but immediately stopped doing so as you announced you wanted the practice stopped. They are suspended today for those runs, which they didn’t purchase gold to be there, they were the carry. This is a similar position guilds and players find themselves in retail.

How is it that upon announcement and stopping to attend the raid, he is suspended?

Anyway keep on trucking but please please sort your auto ban stuff out. I stopped selling enchants because of it.

Oh, that’s nice. No hunter nerf this update. Was expecting something like “You get the xp buff and dropped price for mounts unless you already have a hunter at 40 in which case you’re locked from playing anything else and can only throw rocks while taming squirrels, here’s an icon of a middle finger” bullet point.

Anyone complaining about the XP Buff you can always just turn it off at an Inn.

I think this is a nice change that caters to those that want to rush to 40 without having to grind Scarlet Dungeons 24/7.

Bring back gdkp. It gave me a reason to engage with the world. Now it’s just raid log or instanced pvp.

Second, fox stv. It’s unplayable and you have full mage groups aoeing and essentially trading coins. They walk out with 2 or 3k coins.

Third, you embracing alts will just feed fotm rerolling. Unless you plan on investing more into balance, then the xp buff could be alright.

nah, 40 man raids are bad outside of world bosses.

Since a lot of loot overhauling is going to take place, is it possible to add in a “Badge System” like in TBC/WotLK so that RNG is removed from getting the best gear as the raids increase in size?

I don’t look forward to farming for Onslaught Girdle all over again for the entire lifespan of MC until Naxx to never even see it drop, let alone lose the roll. Adding the entire raid’s loot table to a vendor, and having badges as ‘bad luck protection’ would make a LOT of players happy.

TERRIBLE CHANGES. make mc back a 40 man

Excited about all y’all’s changes, hope we get some challenging content going forward like it was designed to be back in 2005. People conflate vanilla and classic and they are not the same considering one version was 20 years old and solved.

I always liked 40 man raids. If you can get a 40 man going that works well together and clears the content its like running a symphony. I would definitely like to keep doing 40s. Maybe do 40s and 20s.

Atleast leveling other classes will be easier now.
