Season of Discovery Developer Update - Feb 27, 2024

Louder for the people in the back.

Why not try and recruit people who, while random at first, may become good pals over time.

Some thoughts:

  • instant Mail, even if it’s just instant between your own characters. It doesn’t have to be instant within the guild/friends list. I’d just like to send something to my alt and receive it quickly.
  • Slow down on nerfs across the board. If something is overpowered in PvP, adjust how much that ability can hit/affect a player and leave the PvE side alone (and vice versa). We know you can do it, you’ve done it before.
  • Rune/book idea for p3 or p4 when we have even more runes: The ability to put any owned rune on your shirt (for example, but any wearable item that doesn’t already have runes that go on it)

After reading through the thread, it’s actually baffling how many commenters seem to be against ‘grouping with strangers’ to do content in this game.

It’s an MMORPG. Social interaction is probably the most vital aspect of this game/genre. You are SUPPOSED to interact with ‘strangers’. That’s part of the game. Some people who were once ‘strangers’ to me are now some of my best friends. If you guys don’t like that, this honestly isn’t the genre for you. Retail is more up your alley, or perhaps an ARPG or Single-Player RPG.

It’s unfathomable to me that you started on a classic server and didn’t think there’d be 40 man raids, and are now demanding that the raids be exclusively 10 mans.

I’m a Guild Master and Raid Leader that is in support of 40 man raids. Yes it can be hectic, but it is also epic and a cornerstone/pillar of classic WoW. Removing it hurts the identity of the game. There are already 20 mans in classic. You don’t need to turn the 40s into 20s. We were also promised NEW raids. Make NEW 20 mans and leave the 40 mans intact as was promised.

That’s not quite what people are saying though. What’s being said is that in a 40 man a good chunk of those people effectively are strangers regardless at which point what’s the value in 40 mans vs 20 mans for content that you’re supposed to do with a steady group?

It’s more pleasant surprise that the option for 20 mans is on the table and being considered by blizzard.

That’s not quite what people are saying though. What’s being said is that in a 40 man a good chunk of those people effectively are strangers…

But it is exactly what people are saying in this very thread, on twitter, and on reddit. They may start out as strangers, but quickly became my guildmates and friends, people I could rely on to do various tasks in game at a moments notice.

…regardless at which point what’s the value in 40 mans vs 20 mans for content that you’re supposed to do with a steady group?

Honestly I shouldn’t have to explain or defend this. 40 man raiding is Classic. It is one of the things that separates itself from ALL other versions of the game. In my opinion, 40 man raiding ups the scale of everything - it feels like you’re bringing a small army to take down this legendary evil. You do not get that same feeling with 10 people.

Inb4 ‘but classic raids are easy and have one mechanic a fight’ yes, you are right. When I started playing this I thought they were going to address that by making the fights more challenging/complex/difficult but so far it’s been the exact opposite. Everything has gotten easier.

They literally have tested 20 and 25 player raids for over a decade. There isn’t much to test there. Thanks.

If you are doing GDKP yeah. That wasn’t my experience with Classic. We had 3 guild groups of 40 players each. Very few alts crossed over.

Can’t help but notice it is not March 5th but my toggleable EXP buff is no longer in-game and I’m leveling too fast for the zones I’m in. This isn’t Classic anymore.

I believe you can disable the buff.

There’s no buff on my character and the talk option on the innkeeper is missing.

What level are you?

it’s almost like megaservers and layering were terrible ideas.

The xp changes are bad for the game. Don’t forget easy n fast is not necessary good. Classic is always about the journey n the effort you put into earning things.

So turn it off if you don’t like it, not rocket science.

buff affi locks for pvp, stop neglecting us

give me a break with this short lifespan stuff… they’re dragging out each level bracket for like 3-4 months. it’ll be christmas before anyone is in naxx

I guarantee you everyone crying about 40 man raids never actually had to deal with forming and creating a 40 man roster.

40 mans as an idea yeah cool,

40 mans for Guild and raid leads?

Good news, you can disable the buff if you dont like it.

Great changes. Please make Managerie loot spawn in a chest so we can loot safely before we fight final boss.
