They said the reason, and its the scope of what it entails to do that. They run the game mode, but theyre not the “bosses” so im not sure they can just expand willy nilly like you seem to suggest. Unless you work there I dont think you or anyone else has any idea what the scope actually is so youre better off taking their word instead of just blaming them.
Stop with the silly retail raid mechanics. Classic WoW boss encounters don’t require multi-page write-ups with diagrams. 20-man raids could go either way… if you keep the barrier of entry high (your example of something harder than ZG) then it won’t be puggable, so you’re catering to the sweatlords even at the low-end of your raid plans. If the raids are more classic style, with simple mechanics, and not more than a couple of hours to clear, then 20-man would be fine.
If you are trying to keep raids for elitists, then give dungeons a makeover and new loot there for the rest of us. Who’s running RFD or Uldaman this phase? Almost nobody… because the gear is not worth going there for and the XP is faster at SM. You guys changed like four items from spirit to spell power and called it good. What a waste…
Uh… sorry but ‘Parse Culture’ has ruined raiding.
I don’t like the XP and mount change, I think this is bad for SoD’s health.
Not everybody needs an alt, not everyone needs crazy gold, and not everyone needs mounts on their alts. It should be a reward for hard work, this is still classic wow. Leveling is such a huge part of the game, i think players need some tough love and be told if they can’t level 3 alts to 40 then bad luck.
This encourages a retail mindset. Classic is all about the game before max level. I’m not able to level 4 alts and I’m okay with that. Seeing someone with a mount at 40 should still be a respectful image, knowing they put in the work and effort. I hate when they hand out rewards like a middle aged mum on Halloween.
I’m clearly not the target audience for this change.
20 mans are a good compromise. 40 is too much for SOD and I would urge you to not include them. Would be a very instant quit moment for me and most of my guild. The logistics of 40 man raiding is a nightmare none of us are interested in dealing with ever again. If not for covid restrictions we never would have bothered with them in 2019 classic.
Amen brother.
Retail raids are entirely more difficult and are still puggable, so this doesnt quite make sense.
This announcement has caused a mass exodus of guilds and will lead to pservers renewed popularity. It is good news for the retail kiddos and the anti social pug crowd though. Game can’t be everything for everyone and Blizz has decided. At least the classic crowd can move on now without investing any more time. Cheers!
I run uldaman like 2-3 times a day, the chest at the end contains level 40 BOEs and it has made me a lot of gold. Also, gnomer isnt hard nor does it require a multi page write up. If you’re struggling with gnomer, you just suck, get better.
good troll post, no gnomer logs, 10/10 bait, love you
Being forced into 20/40 man raids will result in our guild not bothering with level 60. Some of them are even considering not bothering past phase 2 now.
10 is a good size to easily manage and raid with. Higher than this (if you can’t allow flex) is just much more than a lot of people want to deal with now.
Game has always been casual-centric, this grand fantasy of WoW being a hardcore mecca is nothing more than fantasy and always has been. As for watching a decline in Wrath, lol, come on. You absolutely did not watch happen in Wrath and you’re just using dishonest data for confirmation bias just like any other bad wannabe hardcore (extreme minority of the player base btw, always has been) has when using that weak argument to try and prove a point. That decline actually feel sharply in Cata when they went too damn hardcore.
If you paid attention to old gaming site interviews back in 2007/2008, they even admitted they went too far with raid sizes and raid or die in vanilla/tbc and wanted to introduce raid/dungeon finders much sooner than they did (and they should have).
Catering to players like you has always been the absolute bane of this game’s entire existence for long term viability and sub numbers.
When numbers drop and barely anyone is playing them, those 20-mans will magically turn into 10-mans extremely fast. lol
at least on paper, 20ppl in ST seems more feasible than mara, less cramped by far, plenty of room to do things for bosses with that mid area, all sorts.
XP Buff and leveling changes are super smart and I love this change, especially the change from 50% to 100%. Good change.
Gold for quest changes is also welcomed!
Id love to just see a 100% increase in experience just be permanent.
Raid sizes - I am uncertain about this change, but willing to give it a chance, I understand WHY this change was done, I am excited to see how 20 man raids in Molten Core would feel and look like. Excited to try!
Itemization changes is also absolutely needed and welcomed as well, i think these are all super positive changes and like the direction that we are going.
Overall Season of Discovery has been a lot of fun for me and these changes that are being made are SUPER welcoming. I love that the team is keeping a pulse on the community and i am excited to see more changes in the upcoming patches.
Are there plans to update the rank 14 gear too?
I mean I can show you my map… Can’t count STV cause its impossible to do anything there
Retail has LFR, which means the so called ‘sweatlords’ need to lower their standards or PUGs will just go to LFR and ignore Normal/Heroic modes.
The most interesting takeaway from this is that they are considering Phase 2 to be at the midpoint after 3 weeks.
These changes are great and all, but lets get the 1 thing everyone has been asking for already - Dual Spec!!! It’s such a huge QoL addition that I’m surprised it’s taking so long. SoD requires so much class flexibility. It’s just not fun to have to run to the trainer and switch specs, then change macros around, followed by runes.
