Season of Discovery Class Tuning Incoming - April 30

I already accepted that for my raid in p1.

I bring lion and trueshot.

I play ranger hunter but even if i was melee i would be running trueshot…

i guarentee one of the devs plays one. they’re absolutely busted in group play pvp too because whoever is behind the wheel doesn’t know how to make them 1v1 viable while not gamebreaking when there are 5 of them in a bg teamfight.

You can’t use immolate and unstable affliction on the same mob…

I use Shadow and Flame. I was using Invocation in Gnomer at lvl 40… it was ok, but now that I can crit I jsut use S&F.

Yes, it doesnt scale well.

Lets use an easy example, its not entirely accurate, but gives you an idea.

Lets say 10 points of attack power gives rigues 4 dps.

Those same 10 points will give a warrior 6 or more depending on rage thresholds

10 points of ap gives a hunter 1-2 dps (1 for ranged, 2 for melee).

Now this is just quick napkin math, but it takes hunters over 200% the stats needed to get the same dps benefit as a rogue. And warrior just scales more and more efficiently the more stats they get.

Hunters were a passable dps in classic era vanilla because of melee weaving. The most complicated and convoluted rotation in the game, in sod we still face the issue of many of our common dps abilities having poor to nonexistent scaling. Serpent sting, fire traps, mongoose bite, wing clip, the list goes on. They have either spell power scaling or no scaling at all. And hunter is an agility based class.

To give you an idea how bad hunter scaling is, last phase ranged hunter scaled better with spellpower than agility purely because chimera shot got more damage from serpent sting scaling with spell power than it did with agility/rap effecting crit and weapon damage. Part of that was vecause of the high armor, but it highlighted the lack of scaling for agi/rap hunters and even melee hunters were testing spell power and dragon breath chillie and the min max had that being mixed in on less ideal stated item slots.

Add to it “when this damage is procced, refund 50% of the abilities mana cost”

Mana problem fixed.

a lot of parsing runs are moving to 2 spriest 2 heals because the spriest heals are so strong and all any one sees is spriest begging for a dps buff while ignoring this fact. Go get a bunch of spriest to agree to a ve nerf and then tweet at aggrend together. hes pretty much said he doesnt check forums.

maybe instead of buffing the rune that nobody uses we could actually buff affliction/pact givers…?

-Buff felguard to be more in line with bm hunter pets (after this recent nerf)
-felguard cleave cd affected by destro talent reducing succubus lash of pain cd
-Take UA and make it not mutually exclusive with immolate
-Adjust pandemic so that nightfall proc rate is affected by or matches warlocks critical strike chance
-Allow use of lifetap while channeling drain life fill to fish for nightfall procs.

happy to discuss / adjust/ add to warlock suggestions to make affli competitive

WTF is this warlock change? No one asked for this. It’s not a dps increase unless you’re bad at dot management, and it’s still worse than the other 2 options.

you’re missing nothing. If you’re good at dot management this rune is trash. It’s not actually doing any more damage it just allows you to clip your dots and not loose damage.

Why the F are we buffing shaman?? they are already stupid OP this makes no sense

Elementals PVE dps is abysmal, it’s that simple. Just as Shadow Priest, they aren’t considering pvp.

This. All the ABs I’ve done today I’ve seen 2 Enh, rest are all Elemental now. The way they buffed them to help in PvE just made them wrecking balls in PvP.

Shamans … the class that is destroying PVP and keeping Alliance from going to BG’s … getting buffed? Take offensive dispell away from Shamans and nerf everything 20% and it will be balanced.

You shouldn’t give SO much to a class that is unavailable to the other faction.

Or keep going … “A Skirmish Has Broken Out”. Let bgs all be Horde v Horde.

It’s the epitome of bad design for a melee’s optimal raid spec to be 31 points into a ranged tree. Hilariously bad.

Still no feral buffs? Awesome.

It’s a slight dps increase because no matter how good you are at dot management you aren’t 100% up time good.

Yes but is that really worth a rune slot for such a minimal buff?

If they added “and refunds 50% of the mana cost of the ability when this effect triggers” that would make it better as its giving the dots huge mana efficiency, which results in less life taps, which means more globals available for damage.

If they dont want to give it more damage, they can give it more efficiency on the mana used to do that damage. This in itself would add more dps due to less globals used on restoring mana.

It’s not all that minimal. Every time you do it you speed up it’s damage by 3ish seconds.

Also

You finish casting a spell. Your dot has 1 second left, do you cast an instant and lose up time+be mana inefficient? Do you cast your 2-3 second cast spells and lose a lot of up time? Or do you clip it cuz of the rune and lose no up time and don’t waste a global?

why did you guys nerf hunter could you give us an explanation on by any chance?

Correct. It is the same damage per cast, but in a smaller amount of time, thus a dps increase. (The ideal way to use the rune would be to refresh each of the dots with 5-6 second remaining to get the full effect).

Also since each cast is shorter, you get more casts per fight, and with the damage per cast being the same, more casts equals more damage done during the fight.
