So, once upon a time programs like Glider or even fishing buddy i think had a automated option once upon a time ( i think) a, were all outlawed due to well, you could afk and not play but gain exp/loot etc from.
And now even the multiboxing “actionable offence”
But how is it fine now for people to afk in dungeons with a Weakaura macro?
Are there macros you can make where a person doesn’t need to use their keyboard or mouse for input, and can go AFK?
Essentially it’s a week aura that all that has to be done is having it installed then the leader of the group putting in p chat follow or stop. I’ve heard of people getting into massive trouble with these, and even most multiboxers (I say most cause I’m sure there are some) don’t use them. I box and I don’t. I just have a button with a /follow macro on it and I push the button and the toon follows (I have two, /follow Nameoftoon and /follow focus because this way I can switch for rp purposes).
Someone could afk and all the leader has to do is command them to start and stop at a command’s notice and the week aura does that. Least from my understanding on how it works. Boosters tend to use them in Classic level boost runs (that’s where I’ve heard that they are mainly used at).
I remember fishing buddy. Wasn’t there honor buddy too and a few others? If I remember right, they were in game addons (don’t quote me on that cause never messed with em so no clue). Boxing blizzard is ok with long as you do it all 100% manual now without any input mirroring using software or hardware to mirror commands to multiple wow windows at the same time, or to automate or streamline multiboxing. Any addon or weakaura that would do something for my character, I do not install. At all… even TSM. I consider TSM too automated and even though it’s allowed it just feels… wrong. Idk it feels too automated to me. I like making spreadsheets and doing listings and stuff that way (honestly I just like making spreadsheets).
I agree that they should do something about that week aura. Someone could literally pay for a carry in G then just go out and do w/e and not be in the instance at all (well their toon is but they aren’t at the computer when they start the instance you know what I mean).
Well most of the time i’ve seen boosting advertised, the selling point is you can afk.
Big yikes on that front. Something should be done with the whole boosting scenario in that case. I don’t mind some boosting for gold but it has taken a massive upsurge in the last few years and has gotten ridiculous.
