Screwing New and Returning Players

Advertise for Wrath and lure new and returning players to a “Fresh Start” server. Funnel in as many as you can and then trap them there with 5 hour queues! Don’t allow any transfers off the server! Just get your sub money without letting them play!

This is what you have done Blizzard. Fix Skyfury.

Seriously we had some friends we were going to try wow for the first time they can’t make characters on our server because of the 3+ hr queue? Who wants to do that?

This is nuts.

Skyfury needs to be locked and Transfers off enabled!

Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence

The real issue is that they just didn’t anticipate the sheer volume of people that wanted to play Wrath Classic, fresh server or otherwise, and should have opened more fresh servers than they did. Poor planning absolutely, but I sincerely doubt they’re trying to “trap” you anywhere like some sort of evil villain

If there was no malice, then they would attempt to remedy the situation. Skyfury should be locked and Transfers enabled to a new Fresh Start server. This has passed beyond incompetence into negligence and malice.

The said in a blue post that it was a mistake to open a bunch of servers when classic released because when hype died down they had a lot of servers with low pops they had to close.

So what? They were able to reap the benefits from all of those paying customers during that time. It more than paid for opening and later closing a server. This is about customer service at this point.

sounds like the classic launch to me

Who says new players have to play on a fresh realm? The value of doing so is gigantically overblown.

If I were a new player or a player coming back for Wrath, I’d just find a realm with no queue and start leveling.

Unrelated… Windseeker exists.

How do you know they aren’t? The solution isn’t as simple as just flipping a switch on or off, if it were then FF14 wouldn’t have had such a disastrous launch of Endwalker

I will agree they definitely need to say something about it, though

I don’t think they meant for the entire population of the server to move to the next server.

They did. The blue post even admitted that a major contributor to the rise of mega servers and the deaths of so many other servers was that blizz opened too many servers in response to player demands during classic launch three years ago.

I assume that they were trying not to make the same mistake again, but this time undershot the mark in regards to the number of available servers.

That’s exactly what we did. We found an empty server. We chose this over an existing server because we didn’t want to risk a ton of inactive players on an existing server suddenly coming back! You can’t win with this!

Endwalker launch was fine. They had long queues, but once you were in, there didnt seem to be any problems.

The biggest problem with the Endwalker launch was the queuing system had some sort of bug where it kept testing the connection too often and would get denied and kick you from the queue, and the fact the queue itself had a cap. The in-game stability was fine and there weren’t any major bugs that I can remember.

Time to end servers and move everyone to one server in NA and one for the EU. This picking servers is the reason for the problem. Take away the choice and end this right away. It will also end faction imbalance and a host of other problems people cry about.

That kind of supports what I said, though? Because Classic wasn’t as popular as they anticipated, they undershot Wrath, basing it off the number of Classic players instead of taking into account that maybe a few more of the 12 million Wrath players might decide to give it a try.

Particularly with fresh servers like Skyfury, it was a silly decision not to open at least a couple more

But it would end a profit center for them - paid transfers. They do this purposely to create a service that you have to pay for. Unfortunately on Skyfury you can’t even pay to transfer off!

Yes, that’s what I’m talking about. The reason there were long queues is because they didn’t anticipate the sheer volume of players jumping ship from other games at the time, and the queues lasted for quite a while because

I know it’s probably never gonna happen just sayin no other game bothers with servers anymore due to this. I just know a mega server is something that would benefit the game.
