Screen stutter

Since the pre-patch the game spits, stutters, freezes etc. I turned graphics to low, installed new nvidia driver and nothing helps. Intel I-5 6600k - Geforce 1060 6gb memory - 12gb ram. It should not do this.

Please try a full UI reset - it’s reversible and can resolve these kinds of issues.

  • Exit WoW completely
  • Delete the Cache directory
  • Rename the WTF and Interface directories to WTF_old and Interface_old

Hi Amaelain, I spoke too soon. The faltering stuttering picture returned. I finally found out was due to a bad addon. I disabled all addons and started bringing them back one at a time. Haven’t found the culprit as yet.

Hey Buckthorne

You might not find the culprit by simply disabling. Addons ‘pseudo load’ even when disabled. What you may need to do is another UI reset. Then install addons one at a time - testing as you go.

Thanks for the help Tratt. I’ve never heard od “pseudo loading” but I’m keeping an eye on them. Bigger problem now, all characters on all realms are gone!

If you have an unwieldy number of addons, you can try this:

Enter command: /console scriptErrors 1
Then: /reload

When your addons bug out, you’ll receive error messages you’ll need to read and troubleshoot - often, a particular addon will be named. To disable the messages, change the 1 to a 0 and redo the above procedure.

specifically ive seen disabling moveanything, vuhdo, and clique will fix a stuttering issue. if this doesnt work then go to system --> advanced and the bottom of the list is graphics card. make sure thats not on autodetect and its on what card you have. ive heard this has fixed stuttering for some people as well

I’d try connecting to your home realm anyway, and perhaps creating a new character there to force a list refresh.

It may however be that the only solution is to wait and try again later.

Thanks to everyone for the help and advice. Moveanything! is one of the addons I disabled and now I really miss it.

Moveanything has been mentioned as broken in other threads I have read. You may need to wait for the author to update that one.

did it work? also i miss moveanything too but what can you do, it hasnt been updated since jan

It is noted in the latest nvidia driver, I have posted a few times here on the forums but to sum it up look here

https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/456.71/456.71-win10-win8-win7-release-notes.pdf Click windows 10 issues. or this imgur link if you don’t want to do that.

and then do a manual driver search or click here

and pick 442.50 and install it and check release notes and issues in drivers before installing them, wow will tell you at your character screen that it is out of date however it will play just fine. Updating to the latest driver is not always best! I hope this helps.

P.S. this stutter has been occurring since 452.06 and forward and screen flicker from 445.xx and on. Stick with 442.50 for now. Also I would use DDU to properly uninstall it.

I have written these steps out already located here :

…adds nvidia driver issue to list

Yes it most definitely worked. That was the problem with the massive lag.

Good I am glad, please spread the information so other players don’t succumb to the unfortunate Nvidia/blizz issues. They are excelling at all too well.
