I was playing WoW yesterday on my Mac just fine. Today I try to log on and the screen just flickers black making my whole Mac unusable. The only way to recover is to hard reset the Mac using the physical on/off button.
Troubleshooting steps I’ve tried so far:
- scan and repair
- restart computer
- complete delete and reinstall of WoW
- other Blizz games load fine (Starcraft, Diablo)
None of these helped. It was working yesterday. This morning I try to log in to see what’s in the great vault and I get a black flickering screen when usually I see my warband characters.
Frustrating.

We’re having the same issue. Older 2015 Intel iMac, all the specs match the minimums listed except the AMD GPU appears to support GCN 3 not the GCN 4 listed as a minimum. I’ve not looked for a long time so I’m not sure if that’s a new requirement.

Yeah same here, i don’t know what’s going on today.

If it is a change in hardware requirements and not just a bug, I’m disappointed in the lack of error dialog.

I don’t use these forums much. Does tech support usually respond here?
I tried sending a bug report via support ticket but it wouldn’t submit either. Lots of broken stuff Blizz.
I’m seriously considering petitioning for a refund for this expansion and the pre-purchased game time. Bad experience so far.

Same thing happening to me. I hear the music, but the screen just flickers black. I can access Force Quit with the Command-Option-Esc shortcut and force WoW to close and it stops. On a 2017 Intel iMac with Radeon Pro 580 8 GB Graphics.
Edit: I’m on Monterey 12.7.6. Never upgraded beyond that because of the memory leak issue with Mac on Ventura.

Same here, by any chance did you update to the new 15.4.1 version of the OS? Because I did it yesterday and wondered if that was the issue.

My screen is black as well! Tried reseting everything and not working! HELP!
Blizzards Mac team is not large but they are usually very good. We have less issues than most windows users and when the do happen they get addressed quickly. I hope they notice this forum post blowing up. You can also hit them up on X @BlizzardCS.

Having the same issue. Did a full uninstall and reinstall and the issue persists. Not sure what else to do. Any advice??

I second this. Don’t mind being patient for a little, have been stable for so long.

Im curious is this just Intel based Mac users that are being affected?
Everyone so far that reported their hardware3 has been intel. Not sure otherwise. Definitely has the look of a graphics driver/engine issue.

I have a powerful, 2021 17 inch display mac that was working just fine! No warning, and they are removing all Mac users???Tell me this isn;t happeneing…i can;t buy a new computer!!!

Classic worked on my late 2015. Seems unlikely?
