Save Realm Selection When Logging In

Noticed how the realm choice doesn’t save like retail, and you have to select your server each time you log in. Is this something that can be added easily?

Can’t remember if it was in Vanilla, but to add such functionality to Classic is hardly a #nochanges issue.

Unless there’s already a way to do it, and I’m just blind…

I noticed this too. Definitely used to log into your char select screen in Vanilla. Not sure why it brings up realm list now.

I’ve dumped the requisite folders, checked permissions, etc. etc. etc.

None of that resolves the issue — must reselect realm every time.

That is how it was in classic, IIRC?

If that is the case, I certainly do not recall it.

I am an old geezer now, however — reading glasses and all. Not remembering is absolutely within the realm (see what I did there?) of possibility.

Ciarabevinn, that may be the case. I am now considered an old geezer by some of the population… :frowning:

The realm stayed on your last choice back in vanilla.

So whatever realm you last played and exited, would present you with characters from that realm upon logging in.

If you wanted to choose another realm you had to manually back out.

Also making an emergency stop on a griffin wasnt in 1.12 but i think that doesnt ruin the gameplay and is a good addition.

Please save my realm selection.

It’s probably a thing they have in during the queue phase.

You’re not imagining things. Your last played realm was saved in Vanilla. This is an intentional change to make people move servers. They want you to know every time you login that there are low and medium pop servers with no queue. That way there’s no question about whose fault it is if you have to wait 4+ hours to login.

Might have to do with the shared nature of resources. (Evidence of this is Realm names added when sending mail and Eastern Kingdoms on all Realms crashing at the same time Tuesday night.)

I think this may be a conscious decision to confront people with the possibility of refilling every time thy login. They get to see which realms may have no queue or less of a queue then their current server prior to seeing that queue position. Maybe seeing that enough motivates people to switch.

It takes so much work to click your realm each time you log in :joy::joy::joy:

make sure your your clasic folder is NOT read only
Add this to your config.wtf file
SET realmName “XXXXXXX”

That did nothing.

Yeah it’s really annoying me .

Yep I googled this to see if anyone else has mentioned this and here we are. Please fix!

Yep this is frustrating. Not earth shattering, but frustrating.

Bump, I hope Blizzard allows this feature in the future if/when all the queue times are reduced. As Drektar said, it’s not earth shattering but I, too, have always found it frustrating. I also tried the manual text entry in the config.wtf file but that had no effect.
