Save Kirtonos or The case for Kirtonos

Hello everyone

I want to start by saying that I have been playing WoW on and off for quite some time now, about 15 years, for some reason, this is a game that always makes me want to come back.

TBC was the first expansion I played, and like any other kid that did not have money, I went to a private server and I fell in love with the game. So naturally when Classic was announced I was pretty excited.

I started playing on a server that was literally just opened at the moment, got a few names I wanted and started leveling a priest, which was my main the first time I tried the game. It was pretty good, I was leveling with my brother and had that feeling of going back to what I remembered. I eventually stopped playing Classic because of personal reasons, but I heard that TBC was coming back and THAT was the game I wanted to play.

I left Classic pretty early and did not come back until TBC was announced, I payed the sub and started on the pre patch again, and was really excited again to play the expansion that I loved.

Little did I know, my server was in a pretty bad shape for my faction (Alliance, of course) and pretty soon I realized the server was basically dead. I did a /who for all levels and showed less than 50 people online in total. I thought that maybe once TBC was launched, people would start coming back, but that never happened.

I have now one 70 and another one almost there, I joined a guild (the only one active in the whole server) and I use the word active very lightly because we never have more than five 70s online at once, no matter the day or time.

This last weeks has been very demotivating because I was expecting to be able to do the things I like about the game, like dungeons and raiding but that has not been possible, because there is no one attuned for anything since it is nearly impossible to coordinate 5 players to join a group, being that this would be almost 100% of the 70s that are online at any given time.

I like the server, the few people that are in here are very helpful and try to find ways to do things, even if we have to do them in a way that is not intended, like running a 5 player dungeon with only 4 players.

I know this post might not get us anywhere, but I felt that maybe talking about it in the forums, might get some attention to the server. I would really love Kirtonos to make a comeback, and it would be so nice to see some people start migrating here or rolling new characters on the Alliance side, so we can finally have a nice community to do everything the game has to offer.

Right now, our Auction House is dead, it is nearly impossible to sell anything on it, and in general is hard to sell anything because of the very low population. It is hard to do 5 player dungeons on Normal even. It is hard to get a group to do just regular group quests in any part of any map. Gold comes only from killing mobs, and selling trash to vendors, and quests (which I did like 95% of them all in Outland). This means getting the 5k mount will be almost impossible. We do not have many Alchemists, nor Jewelcrafters or any other professions that are needed to improve your equipment. I do BGs but have no gems for the few pieces that I could get from PvP. And there are a lot of issues in general.

There are some good things, farming rep items is easier, not many people doing it so you can just go to any spot you like and start farming. We do not have bots because there is no gold to be made from the AH. Horde usually leave us alone, probably know that we are less than 50 people playing on this side so they don´t want to grieve us, as they are the 99% of the population. The people in the server are pretty nice overall, haven´t seen any toxicity in any chat so far. Leveling is faster, usually every mob you need is up, and not many people will be in the same area at once.

You should give it a shot, we do not need many people, but we need enough for the game to be actually enjoyable for everyone. And you could make that happen. I know this is a very very long shot, but if you decide to come and play for the Alliance in Kirtonos, we will be happy to receive you, and you can ping me or anyone on our guild so you can join us and start a new adventure. This is the closest we have to a “fresh TBC” server, I assure you most of us do not have much gold and no one has any special advantages right now, in fact if you check Ironforge.pro you will see that no one on the Alliance side has completed any raids, but not for lack of trying, just for lack of players.

Come, join us, start fresh, with no bots, no broken economy (due to bots), and a group of people that will love to see Kirtonos reborn. We will be here. We are expecting you, and your guilds with open arms.

As a Skeram refugee this breaks my heart, but I really, really like your selling point. A fresh server, granted overloaded with horde, but low pop so its not completely crazy. In vanilla this wouldn’t work. It shouldn’t, at least, 40 man raids makes this kind of thing nigh impossible. But Cuddwy Kwoo managed it on that shell of a server Skeram, god rest their souls.

In TBC, however, its more doable. I was on Gummy’s TBC server, the secret iteration of it where you needed to know the numeric IP address in order to connect. It got shut down after we’d downed Kara after the 2nd time. I think there were maybe a hundred people on each side. Maybe more like 200. And sure it wasn’t busy, but it worked.

Best of luck.

I never attack the kirtonos alliance out in the wild. They are an endangered species.

Yeah this is true for most Horde, I keep telling my guildies this same thing, you guys see us as an endangered species lol… But this is one of the reasons I have stayed in the server, Horde here does not seem to be toxic, at least towards Alliance. I actually got most of the group quests that I did completed, because a Horde was near and helped me.

Thanks for that

Sounds like a good place for all the alliance fleeing herod to go to.

Really unfortunate to watch everyone transfer away, slowly at first then a massive exodus. I log on once a day to see if anything is happening and rarely see anything. Wish I didn’t have several toons stuck on Kirtonos. Too bad Blizzard doesn’t care about dying servers to have any sort of solution. It amazes me how many PvP servers have turned in PvE servers through attrition. It doesn’t surprise me when you give players of staying on an imbalanced server or leaving that they choose leaving.
