Welcome to the San’layn megathread, Part 2! So awesome an idea, it got a sequel!

I’ll be editing this post in the future to be a better introduction post when I can actually have time to sit down and type stuff up. I can’t say when I’ll be able to, but I’ll try to figure out something when I can. Such is the life of a responsible adult trying to deal with job hunting…

In the meantime, playable San’layn for the Horde please! Preferably as a full race, of course! :man_vampire:

San’layn for the Horde!

How many days until DK elves can finally use the red eyes given to elf races that other classes can use?

I think Midnight and/or the Last Titan would be the perfect time to add them since we are visiting Quel’Thalas and Northrend and San’layn have a lot of lore in those places.

We see in TWW they are adding Short Elf Ears to Human/Elf models so they could add newer San’layn NPCs with Batlike Ear and Claws with some new Eyes. So they could let the players Select that.

Another option is they make brand new models and implement them as a full fledged Allied Race.

So wish we had San’layn. Been wanting to play one for ages. You can never have enough elf races since, they’re the best, period. Unfortunately we’re getting earthen (gag) . . .another race barely anyone will play.

I really hope they become an option in Midnight.

I honestly don’t understand why they did this instead of adding all the other allied races people have been asking for and were pretty much competed as races. Like the Sethrak could be turned into a playable race easily. Or ogres, a race that has been asked for since the beginning of WoW as the Stonemaul Clan has been part of the horde forever.

honestly Ogres not being playable is extremely weird . . .they’re a foundational race.

Seeing as the San’layn megathread has a part 2 thread now and with it being a new month, I should post how to submit some in-game feedback to show support for playable Horde San’layn and other races we want to see playable! I’ll post the full thing here and then link to this post with each following month.

I made a step by step guide on how to submit in-game feedback to suggest races to become playable while also referring to their respective megathreads on here. It’s something I think is important to do as part of a way to show support for races to become playable and bring attention to our megathreads for them.

Once a month on only one character, I send an in-game suggestion for the races I want playable. I do one suggestion for each race and refer to their megathreads on the official US WoW forums for more information. It’s something I don’t regularly do, as I don’t want to spam the system, but it is something I try to at least do occasionally.

If you’re interested in submitting in-game feedback for any races you are interested in becoming playable, here is how to get to it in game:

Step 1: Press ESC to bring up the general menu.

Step 2: Click “Support.” It’s at the very top of the menu.

A new window in-game should load. It can take a few seconds for it to load completely. Underneath the “Search World of Warcraft Support” search bar, you should see a line of square images that refer to specific categories of support.

Step 3: Click the “Submit feedback or bug report” square. It should be somewhere on there, originally on top left, but sometimes it does move.

It’ll take a second to load that part.

Step 4: Click the lightbulb icon on the right that says “Submit a suggestion”

Step 5: Click in the text box on this window to begin typing a suggestion.

You’re now ready to submit an in-game suggestion!

It’s limited to 500 characters you can type, so you have to be a bit creative in the limited space. As I said before, I usually do one suggestion for each race I want playable, giving a very brief mention of the race, the faction I want it for, and why I feel they’d be great to add. I then make sure to type the name of the associated megathread, assuming they have a megathread, and mention they’re on the official US WoW forums, stating to go there for more info, such as ideas, fan support/designs, ongoing discussions, etc.

When you submit the feedback, it states you won’t get a response, but that it’ll be looked at in some way. Now, this wouldn’t be a sure-fire way to get a race playable, but it can’t hurt to do so in my opinion. After all, we have to show support somehow!

So for those interested in supporting a race you want playable, this is how to do it in-game. As I said, I usually do this once a month (on just one character) at most so as to not spam the system. However, multiple people doing it could help a lot to showing support for races we’d love to see playable.

Also make sure you’re submitting a suggestion and not a bug. I mean, yes, the character creation screen lacking playable San’layn is quite the game-breaking bug (with an easy fix!), but a suggestion will likely be received better as opposed to sending that as a bug report.

As I said, I do this for my most wanted races each month, and San’layn are one of them. I don’t know how much it helps to do it, but I don’t think it hurts to find reasonable avenues to bring attention to playable Horde San’layn support and this megathread in particular.

These bats are spreading the word that it is a new month, and we should submit some in-game feedback for playable Horde San’layn and other races we want to see become playable someday!

With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.

If you’re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:

I imagine day 1 of playable Horde San’layn would look like that video above, only in Orgrimmar. :man_vampire:

Something I’ve seen from screenshots of the TWW beta on sites like Wowhead is that after the events involving Dalaran, which I won’t go into specifics on for now to avoid spoilers, is that some of the prisoners in the Violet Hold do get recaptured.

I didn’t see much of interest with the recaptured prisoners, though the screenshots didn’t explore the entire area this takes place in. When TWW launches, I’ll take a look and see if I can see any signs of Thal’ena, though I’m going to guess not.

However, that could be a good thing in theory, since it could be written that she managed to escape during the events of TWW’s beginning. And with Midnight being the next expansion and the whole uniting the Elf tribes thing going on…well, I should temper expectations, but it does feel like a pretty big opportunity to having San’layn playable in some fashion then.

So I’ll keep an eye out once TWW launches. I’m also going to plan something for an intro post to here, even if it is going to be the third post in here. I still want to keep up the Horde San’layn support, so I want to see if I can find the time to sit down and type up something. Not sure when I’ll be able to get it done, but I’ll make a post when I can do it.

Also, if I could ask someone to make a post in here so I can continue to make more posts, I’d appreciate it! Can’t post in a thread I didn’t create more than three times in a row, so soon as someone else posts, I’ll be able to continue making some more posts. Maybe making a reminder post of Thal’ena would be a good start since we’re in a part two of the San’layn Megathread now.

Anyway, I’ll still be here with the playable Horde San’layn support. Preferably as a full race, but if they end up a Customization Race, then I suppose it is better than nothing. At least they’d be playable in some form rather than just villain batted all the time. :man_vampire:

You know, it has been a long while since this was asked, if at all, so I figured I’d go ahead and ask this:

Let’s say that playable Horde San’layn becomes a reality. What type of characters would y’all create?

For me, I would reroll my two “Darkfallen” characters into San’layn characters:

-My male Shadow Priest is the main San’layn character idea I’ve had since I joined part 1 of this megathread.

-I have a female Marksman Hunter, which may or may not get rerolled into the same class. If so, I’d still use a bat pet with her.

If San’layn become just a Customization race (which is less than ideal), I’ll just edit the above two characters accordingly without rerolling.

Just curious what all everyone would roll! :man_vampire:

I’m planning to edit my post near to top to act as a new intro post at some point. It’s just going to be a lot of work to get research, lay out and plan the sections, look into screenshots, and so on. It may be awhile still before I can get to it, especially since RL has been busy for various reasons, so I apologize for not having something up yet at the moment. x- x

Immediately remake my San’layn death knight.

Having him be a proper San’layn would be awesome. He’s also the brother of Fenelon here.

This one is the brother. (he might be about to get remade in time running)

Depends on the classes they can be.

If I were to guess, as it stands currently with class availability for current playable races, I see San’layn having the following classes:

Death Knight
Hunter
Mage
Monk
Priest
Rogue
Warlock
Warrior

Now, with Blizzard opening up more classes to all races, I’m sure we’d eventually see San’layn as all classes (except Evoker, at least for the time being). Thus when looking at new playable races, I look at how each class could fit that race instead of what classes said race could or couldn’t be. Especially when more classes open up for current playable races, which would definitely be a possibility.

But initially as it stands right now, that is how I see their class selection if they were to become a full playable race in the near future. :man_vampire:

If we ever got playable Horde San’layn during BfA, this is a bit of a taste of what it could have looked like. Unfortunately, one of the most delicious looking carrots dangled before us became one of the biggest missed opportunities of the expansion while Darkfallen in general just got slapped onto a few races. Disappointment followed.

However! There is always a chance in future expansions that we could see playable Horde San’layn, whether they just add more customizations and have them officially join the Horde or even become a full new race, and you can help the chances of this happening!
