I already have my knight elf darkfallen. She’s metal and I love her very much.
…but there’s some specific customizations missing to fill the much better established variety of blood elf undead and it wouldn’t hurt anyone to toss 'em onto the barber shop with maybe a crumb or five of lore to go with it.
San’layn customization for blood elves would be fine, but I really would hope we’d get some lore for them as well. We’d also not have any sort of vampiric abilities. It’d be cool if we could get ‘skins’ for racials for subraces or something. If only.
I read over that “leak” earlier today and wasn’t impressed.
I agree with Fal that the micro classes don’t make much sense nor some of the class skins.
Tinker totally needs to be 3 full specs and if I were doing necromancers, it’d be 3-4.
Having it only as a skin is a disservice.
There were a number of Shadowlands leaks that weren’t accurate, but got the name right since that’s what everyone was already assuming it would be.
This is what I’ve figured would happen as well.
With the way things were set up with this last expansion, it’d keep things consistent and no more level bloat if they just dropped us to 50 before each expansion. The previous expansion would be come the current 10-50 leveling area, and the one before that joins Chrome time with all the others.
I think a warden skin would work very well for a demon hunter, but not holy or arcane…I’d do it more silvery/Elune themed…all Wardens are Night elves after all.
I was surprised the name was so generic, but I did see someone point out that, like the Battle for Azeroth name, it can have multiple meanings.
She’s pretty much the lead dragon, so it makes sense to have her as a figure head. I thought it was funny that over on MMO-champ they were commenting about how the dragon behind her wasn’t her dragon form, but some other dragon…no, it’s definitely her dragon form. Someone had linked an older art piece of Alex in her dragon form also agreeing that it wasn’t her and I didn’t understand it because the identifying characteristics were all there on both of them.
The art piece just makes me think of Bolvar getting leaked before Shadowlands was announced.
There’s also the datamined stuff pointing to a green drake mount.
They’re the same thing just different flavors. It’s a wonder that Maiev and Illidan didn’t hook up
Seriously though, they both use glaives and the high mobility would work on each.
Change meta into some sort of empowerment from Elune where the Warden gets a bit bigger and goes all silvery or some such. It’d work very well as a reskin.
Could just do away with the double jump gliding or retheme that as well.
It’d be neat to see acceptance after Legion and have the two groups working together.
I still think Deatholme would be a great location for a gothic castle full of San’layn friendly and protective of Quel’thalas…
YUP, I’m tired of the faction BS.
I’ve joked before about the blood curse spreading amongst the blood elves and turning them all into vampires. Name would be even more fitting then
please no…no more stupid war.
Yup, boooo FACTION STUFF…hisss BOOOOO
Dunno much about the purge thing. I took a bit of a break during MoP and I think that’s when that happened?
I do think Arthas could have been a cool figure head for the Forsaken with the way the story has gone recently. Sylvanas was a willing lackey of the Jailer. Arthas was manipulated and a puppet. Something Bolvar says in the very recent stuff kinda reinforces that in my opinion. A return of the king and rebuilding of Lordaeron and Forsaken accompanied by Kael’thas taking up Deatholme for the San’layn and maybe even Bolvar taking over Icecrown with the Dath Knights…create a bit of a undead story faction to build stories off. Treat them all as people.
Since they didn’t do anything cool with Arthas, they should have just left him alone since the bit added to him in the raid cinematic sucks when you look at Sylvanas and how she’s been treated.
Think I’d also rather have Arthas than Calia…she could be in some advisory background role though.
Couldn’t agree more.
Really dunno why they aren’t all feasible and treated as large cross realm instances. Let’s combine them across servers so the player population in them is much higher.
How though? Is there something about Wardens in Legion I’m forgetting? If you look at their toolkit in Warcraft III, they’re much more similar to Rogues:
Hide
Lie in wait for enemies without attacking. (Will respond to attacks). Units will hold position and hold their fire, so when they are Shadowmelding, they will not break their own invisibility. It’s very handy for running away from a battle. The Hide ability is disabled during the day.
So, basically Stealth. Technically it’s Shadowmeld, but all Wardens are NEs, and that’s how that worked in WCIII.
Fan of Knives
The Warden flings a flurry of knives at multiple enemy targets around her.
Literally a Rogue ability now.
Blink
Short distance teleportation that allows the Warden to move in and out of combat.
A Mage ability now, though you could argue Rogue’s Shadowstep is fairly similar.
Shadow Strike
Hurls a poisoned dagger which deals large initial damage, and then deals damage over time. The poisoned unit has its movement rate slowed for a short duration.
Which is pretty much replicated by Assassination Rogues’ ability Poisoned Knife.
Vengeance (Ultimate)
Creates a powerful avatar that summons invulnerable spirits from friendly corpses to attack your enemies. When the Avatar of Vengeance dies, the spirits vanish.
So this one doesn’t map to Rogues, but it doesn’t really map to Demon Hunters either.
The Warden’s glaive is very distinct and rather different from the types of glaives you see DHs typically wield though.
Fel Rush is fairly similar to Blink. That’s really the only similarity I can find between the two besides weapon type. Am I missing something?
While I’m keeping my expectations tempered for the next expansion, I am getting a bit excited that we might be back on Azeroth again. I really haven’t been a fan of being in the afterlife and having it defined, and to have something much more grounded will potentially feel good again.
And while I always have hope for specific races becoming playable, I am hoping to see races based on the various race request megathreads in general. We’ve only seen the Vulpera and MechaGnome megathreads get to celebrate, and it’d be really cool to see other megathreads get their dreams come true and celebrate also!
Speaking of, with a new month and a few days past April Fool’s Day, I did another round of in-game race request suggestions with references to their respective megathreads. Gotta help keep up the support!
I was mainly joking, but I think they’d work well.
Rogue and DH would both make great class skins for them, even maybe Warrior…and now I feel like we’ve said this before lol. Deja Vu?
Didn’t Illidan have that as well back in the Well of Eternity dungeon? It’s been a while haha. Makes sense linking it to shadowmeld, but I seem to remember him making a circle like hunter’s camo that you’d hide in while creeping past demons. Too bad it didn’t carry over to the class, guess since a couple others already do it. Makes sense though.
Could easily retheme “Darkness” to something similar in a class skin.
Yup, blade dance is also similar. Would be a good ability to fill that niche.
Fel rush would be a good one to reskin for that.
Oooh, that’d be a cool name for a Meta reskin. Instead of summoning that spirit, they become it instead. Grow in size, maybe go a bit translucent or silvery…
Yeah, still a glaive though, and that’d be half the fun, having more variety. They said at one time, they’d give the NE glaive as a cosmetic option for people to use on characters that weren’t demon hunters, but to my knowledge, that hasn’t happened. Although that was the more sentinel style, rather than the crescent. Having both be options available to a warden would be nice.
Eh, not really. Just feels like a class that’d work really well for it. Demon hunters kinda feel like fel rogues. Wardens are just Elune rogues.
Something about Maiev and Illidan also both remind me of each other. They’re both relentless in their pursuit. I mean Illidan is basically a warden now. He’s serving the role that the Night Elf wardens served when he was imprisoned, but he’s doing it for Sargeras.
If the two groups came to an understanding, which they really should by this point, they’d make a very powerful force working together.
But yeah, having the class skin Elune themes available to rogues, and warriors, as well as the demon hunters would be great. Pick the one you think fits your character more.
One being more cloak and dagger, one focusing on the martial aspects (rage as the resource doesn’t feel out of place either), one that’s more powered by Elune.
Something I liked about the class skin concept that Simaia and Lost Codex put out was that a “skin”/visual spell theme wasn’t only for a specific class. It was shown as something that’d be applied to multiple classes, which is great as it’s just further customization.
So they had the Elune based paladin in an example, but Elune empowered spells being the theme, of course you’d expect this to apply to the priest. But where else could it be used? Having it used for demon hunters, warriors, and rogues and have some accompanying weapons and armor available, that’d make a great option for wardens and sentinels. Leather and plate warden themed sets would be great. Might even be something that’d look cool on a elune themed paladin.
They even had some rogue options that were all fel or void themed.
There’s a lot of cool stuff that could be done.
Having the Wardens composed of multiple classes would make sense as well. If one is to consider Illidan a demon, then Maiev is a demon hunter.
The Illidari could be expanded in the same manner for players. They are not solely composed of demon hunters. Warriors and rogues with a fel theming make a lot of sense. Fel magi? Warlocks? Playable Man’ari, broken, fel orcs, naga…all of those would be great.
I also think void and san’layn themed demon hunters would be a cool addition.
Another thing that’d be an interesting route is someone making a fel based demon hunter but using the more Warden themed gear and basically having theirself a character similar to Cordana Felsong…or maybe if the rogue felblade class skin Simaia and Lost Codex had was an actual thing, that’d be another route to doing similar.
Well, we’re one week away form the next expansion’s announcement.
Although I’m trying to keep my expectations in check, I can’t help but keep some hope for a better expansion. Especially one more grounded in reality and on Azeroth as opposed to being in some cosmic area I feel like we shouldn’t be skipping around in.
Of course, I do hope to see some playable race announcements that myself and others have requested for quite sometime. The possibility of being able to make new alts with new races and/or classes is always exciting to me. Granted, I really hope to get more character slots as well, as my army of characters is dangerously close to the cap.
I do feel like a lot needs to be done to get people interested and invested in the game again. Hopefully, we’ll see a better direction for the game and see some awesome announcements that get people excited. We’ll see what happens when it happens, though I do hope for the best.
As always, I’ll keep hope to see playable Horde San’layn in the next expansion’s trailer! If anything of particular interest does get announced, I’ll be sure to report it here.
