San’layn/vampyr Elf ALLIED RACE Coagulated Megathread of Ideas{Re-VAMPed} (Part 1)

I will always support this thread… especially since I want my pally to have red eyes finally

I get an alert with 60+ replies and the title got longer. Ohhhh boy.

Reads through.

So Darkfallen is actually a catch all term for Undead Elves and San’layn are a subset.

Not sure how to feel about that one TBH. Answers some questions, but raises more.

As someone who’s been pushing both Dark Rangers and San’layn this makes things complicated.

I think I will continue to push them both separately as they both have something to offer and at best they would look to both to whatever Allied Race/Customization that came out.

I really like the concept of selectable racials if they make Darkfallen a Grab-Bag of Undead Elves.

Though this kinda makes the idea that they all could become a customization a LOT more likely since Darkfallen = Undead Elf. So Undead Elf options = potentially all flavors of Undead Elves.

Part of me hopes this happened because they where listening to both Dark Ranger and San’layn request and decided to go with both in an easy manner and not that they just made a major change to the lore for no reason.

Edit, do I need to change the wording on these request in the big Ol’ megathread now or is it good as is?

Racial identity options

  • Dark Ranger Themed Options. (The Dark Ranger quest that is constantly updated on the PTR would be a good way to reward them)
  • San’layn Themed Options.
  • Felblood Elf Themed Options.
These Subrace options could be added through a quest like Nightwarrior options for Night Elves where.

I may not be very vocal or active on the forums, but I just want to chime in to remind everyone of my undying support for San’layn for the Horde! :skull:

Dark Rangers are cool, too.

Also, red eyes for Death Knights would be pretty neat. :red_circle:_:red_circle:

General reminder that undead Thalassian elves exist on the Alliance as well through Death Knights, same as Blood Elves have, and are fully playable right now with vampiric inspired hair cuts. The only thing missing from the kit is red eyes, and that should be accessible to all death knights, especially because the Blood kit is vampiric in inspiration, and blood elves aren’t the only vampires. (Give me Gnomeferatu in game already, Blizzard.)

Dar’khan is also still associated with the void elves.

I got the feeling that the moment if/when DKs get access to new eye colours, it’s just going to be a wall of screeching about how aesthetics don’t matter, and only x or y is the true Darkfallen, when the tools given right now in game allow them to be played on both factions, with the shadow - vampiric - aspects now heavily Alliance favoured due to 9.2.5 showing the Sin’dorei not being fond of most dark magic anymore.

Stop gatekeeping valid requests.

Maybe just add “such as claws, fangs, and bat shaped ears” to this part for clarity.

Wanted to thank everyone by the way for helping me through some of the pretty bad behavior from certain folks who make incorrect claims about me on the regular!

There’s a certain selfishness, entitlement, and complete lack of empathy behind said attacks that seems to lead to the need for fake admiration. In my case, I’m just glad I have true friends who back me up and I know it’s real as opposed to just surface level.

The San’layn community has been going since 2018, can you believe it? Quite some time now. Even before Battle for Azeroth. I remember posting the first thread a month prior to anyone even knowing there would be San’layn in Battle for Azeroth. Cheers for this community!

SAN’LAYN FOR THE HORDE! We’ll see them someday, I hope.

It’s kinda troubling to me how much projection is involved too, one can only hope blizzard answers the Horde request sooner rather than later to end the issue

Agreed. I’m hopeful that the new information coming out means they might be considering it. I don’t imagine they’ll cave to the pettiness of certain Alliance players, but hopefully they’ll stick with the themes that actually fit on the races the Alliance has, and gives Horde what they’ve been asking for/the theme that fits with them.

I was going to make a comment on Blizzard, but I’m going to dial it back and just be happy the community has lasted so long and has been one of the better, if not the best, Allied Race/Customization Request communities.

One thing I noticed that no one else seemed to mention while watching a video on the quest chain.

Rommath calls the San’layn in question “That Traitor!” or something along those lines.

This is more reinforcement that he is a lone operative, and that they don’t view him as a representative of all San’layn.

You guys got the void magic already. Not like blood elves can choose to get that stuff. You really want to take blood magics away from blood elves and horde too?

Fun fact.

Blood Elves are the only player race that uses Blood Magic and they do so openly as one of the central parts of their military strategy. (War Golems)

Technically the trolls practice some forms of it.

Not the blood magic of Zandalar and Naz’mir though…

Though I suppose they said the Darkspear had mostly turned away from that sort of voodoo.

Yea I know. It’s even in there name. San’layn belong alongside blood elves imo. Blood elves = blood magic. 1st generation san’layn were Kael’thas Loyalists. He keeps his namesake in death.

I think the clear answer is yes. There’s a reason why I have certain Alliance players on block. Unfortunately certain individuals can be selfish, petty, and obnoxious. Luckily, I just roll my eyes and laugh at them nowadays because the harassment and ridiculousness over this all got old.

Believe it or not, there are players who demand everything from the Horde and throw a hissy fit when they don’t get it.

People who project that much make me uncomfortable because they seem unhinged and tend to not respect boundaries so for my own sanity I tend to also disengage plus it seems the easiest thing to do to keep the thread free of arguments

100% unhinged, exactly. I don’t bother giving them attention anymore either, cause that’s what they want. Like children, immature people will throw a hissy fit when ignored.

Thankfully, we have ideas that are actually valid in this thread, and I’m done playing nice. I’m done letting people walk all over me on it, either.

I stand by my opinions and people with a problem can put me on block & take a walk. I don’t care.

I guess getting the number one race from Horde with almost all of the same customization options, special quests/special bonuses just for playing Alliance and even a unique bee mount just isn’t enough for some people.

And here I am as a Horde player still hoping Nightborne get some decent skintones, hair colors and a another eye color.

Nope, they’ll keep asking for more and more and making enemies even out of those who formally were entirely neutral on the subject  and never did anything wrong aside from posting in her own thread that she wants a playable race on the faction that fits it the best and who’s been asking for and sharing ideas for over 3 years on it.

Even said I don’t care if someone disagrees/they can have their opinion, but it’s not one I share, so I’m not going to entertain arguing about it anymore. I’m not obligated to argue with people! <3

Notice how the petty people never contribute anything of value on the forums and just are here to start fights/harass? Funny how that happens. And on other media too, actually. Certain ‘infamous’ users end up being garbage.

These stories write themselves.

I used to be neutral until I noticed the one sidedness about how they should get everything and well we shouldn’t get anything, it makes me sad to think back to those times because I was really supportive of everyone getting what they wanted but me wanting stuff I wanted would make people attack me and that just made me feel horrible.

I mean look at the whole we want all the Blood Elf customizations for Void Elves and even though they have like 90-95% already they want the rest and we have yet to get anything in return for it whether it be shared from Void Elves to Blood Elves or Night Elves to Nightborne for example we have zero shared so far.

Not to mention they had gotten the better Allied Races anyway, I mean lets look at that for a few moments.

Alliance got Void Elves and exact copy/paste of Horde Blood Elves with the almost exact same customizations and Horde got Nightborne a botched version of Night Elves with nothing shared from Night Elves.

Alliance got Dark Iron Dwarves and Horde got Mag’har Orcs, like I don’t even have to explain that one because Dark Iron Dwarves is auto win there.

Alliance got Lightforged Draenei and Horde got Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei are a better looking version of the already super gorgeous Draenei and Highmountain Tauren are literally Tauren with antlers instead of horns.

Alliance got Kul Tiran and Horde got Zandalari Trolls, Kul Tiran were built from the ground up with all new models, customizations, animations, etc. and Zandalari Trolls are modified Night Elf/Troll base model.

Alliance got Mechagnomes and Horde got Vulpera, here I admit it was a win for us because I don’t care for Mechagnomes but one out of five isn’t really fair in my opinion so yeah.

Anyway sorry for such a long reply but it really bugs me how one sided some people can be and how they will make you feel awful for being you and wanting things as well.
