San’layn/vampyr Elf ALLIED RACE Coagulated Megathread of Ideas{Re-VAMPed} (Part 1)

Yes but you love us! Right? …Right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks very much!

No worries, thank you for your support ^^ We at least have tons of pretty pictures now and are not as dull :stuck_out_tongue:

Correct! You only see her and the Blood Marquis on the Alliance campaign, unfortunately. Luckily the 3D model shows us some interesting information. I wonder why they’d use red eyes there if it didn’t mean something in terms of how they could look if they’re going to be playable. Never know!

That would be super sweet, and yeah more shaman would be awesome. I wish I could play an elven shaman x.x I hope they do expand on shamanism. (technically blood is mostly water so there’s that.)

Thanks very much! Yeah I figure having our undead elves with a splash of their own theme could be very interesting, plus WoW’s vampyr lore is super neat. Like worgen actually! I still think the worgen and blood curse might have a common origin.

Alright guys take a look:

Which leads to:

I’ll quote my thing from before here as well.

It’s now time to ask our questions. I have selected #1 with an addition as well of course (thanks to Drede’s suggestion). Here is mine:
We know that in the Grizzly Hills Questline, two San’layn Blood Princes, Theraldis and Atherann, were seen resurrecting Arugal. However, their location has since been unknown–what have they been up to all of these years, and will we be seeing them again sometime in the future?

Feel free to use any that I posted there, or come up with one of your own. Hopefully we can get some answers!

Edit: I also asked number 5 because it’s more relevant to the present.

Sure.

I will allow you to believe this

Questions 1,4, or 5 would be great since they have a lot do to the story telling and openings for this megathread.

Honestly what really has been a let down of the AR system is that I hoped it would have allowed for a lot more customization options, because it allows to bring in a cosmetically divergent group without having to develop a whole new starting experience.

Our first batch of AR did a great job by being built from the leveling experience on the Legion Zones, not you, Void Elves. And while I harp on the flaws on the VE set up in terms of narrative, the gameplay of adding a short quest line to unlock AR ended up working very well of Maghar and DI, two races already well established and didn’t need the leg work of a set up.

But now, over a year since the AR system was introduced, it really doesn’t seem to be shaping to be the burst of customization expansion I hoped it to be. With only 4 races per side confirmed, and 3 implemented, it’s just so much… less of what I had hoped.

It has the restrictions of a far more complex system, when let’s be real, most AR are at best a paint over, which would be perfectly fine if they were meant to mainly add customization options, but so far they are just an as-restrictive but with less effort race options.

It just feels underwhelmed. If the system had allowed us a lot of more options it would feel like a good system for customization. But right now it only gives very limited options, while by implication of the limited scope of the system leaving what would be easy options out because such and such races already “have their spot” this not even considering the more polemic choices like High Elves, and in a lesser degree San’layn, but races that no one should have issues with, like Taunka and Wildhammer Dwarves, which already are part of their factions, but because HM and DI are already “sub races” of their main counterparts, it cast them on a less likely light.

I was very much in favor for the AR system, but seeing such a limited result in its implementation makes me reconsider that opinion.

We should upvote each others questions to at least send them a sign that we are very interested in the topic of the Sanlayn. That’s the only way we hope to get our questions answered.

I see some upvotes on my questions for sure but also obnoxious replies to #5. “DREVEN WAS A THROWAWAY SO THE HORDE WOULDN’T FEEL BAD” is so silly. So the whole “the alliance needs to get a win” would therefore be all for nothing? Why not use something way more relevant to current times (like a throwaway Zandalari or troll tribe that could have worked with the Horde) then, why bring back San’layn and make up an entirely new character at that?

No. If the San’layn were meant only to be throwaway so the Horde doesn’t “feel bad” they could have used both missing blood princes and be done with it. They made one come out of the blue from nothing and made a lot of hype. And none of the “they forgot about the other two princes” nonsense because in order to even consider San’layn they’d need to have gone back to look through their own lore.

I know people that hate us like to have wishful thinking but my goodness their “logic” is very flawed.

I know Fallyn, I got the same response to one of mine. I calmly explained what we keep explaining in response to them. It doesn’t make sense to just bring San’layn back after being absent from the story for so long to throw them away so they Horde don’t feel bad and the Alliance feel accomplished. You’re right if they were throwaways what kind of win would that be for the alliance?

That’s like a bully breaking a toy that his target doesn’t care about. If san’layn were throwaways there would be no benefit to the Alliance defeating Dreven at all beyond ending their assistance of the Horde. If they wanted to do that, they could have used a race more relevant to BFA.

Lookie what I found! In the map areas for 8.1.5 in the P.T.R.

  • Borean Tundra > Spire of Blood (New) - Music: Zone-NorthrenScourge.

  • Borean Tundra > Spire of Decay (New) - Music: Zone-NorthrenScourge.

  • Borean Tundra > Spire of Pain (New) - Music: Zone-NorthrenScourge.

  • Borean Tundra > Talramas (New)

  • Borean Tundra > Temple City of En’kilah (New) - Music: Zone-NorthrenScourge.

Remember En’kilah? You know the place where all the San’layn were? :grinning: Though honestly, I have no idea what any of this means for sure. Does it mean they get new music or something else? Does it mean we could be revisiting these areas? There’s also new ones for Icecrown too.

Let’s hope this turns out to be something this time.

Yeah, I hope so too. I’ve had too many ups and downs with this expansion.

Holy bats this is a huge breakthrough! Enh’kila had the largest concentration of San’layn in Northrend aside from ICC. Wow… Just wow! there’s major new hope!

Edit: Can we have a link to the exact source by the way? How did you find out?

Woah! That’s some find there Balesong! and great news for all you San’layn lovers!

I upvoted all your comments in the Q&A thread Fallynn, as well as other comments about other potential allied races. Hopefully we get some answers on the 10th, though I feel like all the good questions will get skipped again :frowning:

Cool, can’t wait to raid those areas and purge them of vampire filth as the great dogfather Genn commands!

I mean…

Welcome them to the Horde. Of course of course.

Those might not be new songs, as there is already a set of music files by that name used in scourge areas of those zones.

My guess, what you are seeing is the music files being referenced by instanced areas in the inscription scenario “prison of ink”, which awards the ability to craft blood contracts (whatever those are). This involves the quill you guys were talking about.

If it’s all just linked to a profession item, yikes. I hope the quill means more than just, well. What professions have always been…nothing.

I can’t include links in my post unfortunately, but it’s on mmo-champion under map areas. You might have to scroll a bit.

I dunno seems like a lot of effort for a profession item that will probably be useless after BFA. And that begs the question of why quill has to be san’layn themed or focused in Northrend at all. It feels related to the appearance of San’layn early in BFA.

You can include URLs that have been “de-linked.” All you have to do is copy-paste the URL as you would with any link, and then use the ` key (located above the left tab on most keyboards) at both ends of the link.

For instance, under normal circumstances I would not be able to link to imgur. But, with the power of `…

Voila!

On here yeah I found them but there’s other Northrend stuff too, like Grizzly Hills.

Edit: Also the Prison of Ink looks connected to blood contracts. Strange

I know that but that doesn’t necessarily exclude these from being interesting does it?

They updated all of Northrend. Thats very peculiar, even if Wintergrasp is being added back.

I wanna say they are just fixing the maps.
