Yeah I still think a cloud of bats would be a super cool racial mount but sadly I don’t think Blizzard would ever do that.
Dropping by again to say I hope you guys get your San’layn one day. You have my support
OMG now I’m thinking a clould of bats would have been an AWESOME racial teleport lol! Shame Void Elves already have that.
Tho a swarm of bats racial could be used many ways! like an evasion CD.
Got ya. I get it now. The only problem I see is Arthus only raised the strongest to be Darkfallen. But that’s kind of a minor problem. Idk I have wanted to play that races since wrath
Didn’t he just raised Kael’thas fallen Blood Elves to be San’layn tho? IMO I get the impression he was less nitpicky than with Death Knights, cause he was kinda being a prick and just recycling Kael’s followers.
Thanks very much! We have confidence, perhaps in the final patches of BfA or something. Never know!
That’s very true, yeah! An evasion would be really neat, hmm… I think that’d be a really interesting idea for a racial that I hope they consider. Nice one!
Yeah he either raised the survivors of that slaughter or all of them, I know that they were very devout followers of Kael, likely the most loyal, that fell to Arthas that day. The really odd thing is that there’s new San’layn now, because Dreven came out of nowhere as a prince. Either he did exist back then and we never saw him, or he is a genuine new creation.
And if he isn’t, the neophytes are, which is really exciting, because they have to be coming from somewhere!
It’s kind of funny that our dissenters don’t think about the ramifications of neophytes existing.
Tossing my hat in the ring to say I fully support San’layn/Darkfallen being an allied race. I started playing WoW about 7 years ago and from the moment I learned a vampire race was in the game I wanted to play them.
Yeah it’s amusing that they say “but they were all killed by the Alliance” when
a) people thought that about Northrend era
b) It was literally never confirmed and not even implied
c) There’s no way all assets would be on a couple ships, logically that would be stupid.
Thanks very much and I feel the same way! Here’s to hoping it happens
people will make up anything to deny something they don’t like
until there’s an official statement saying “they’re all dead” then they are still up for use
Something important we should talk about is this image right here. I didn’t realize one bit of information that could actually indicate if we don’t get playable neophytes, we might actually get the playable princes and such like that.
“Every neophyte you see on this ship is another future Blood Prince Dreven.” So… where did he come from? He had to be trained by a higher up, therefore, like the neophytes we see here. I bet the rabbit hole goes deeper than we thought. Knowing that having all assets on that ship would be a stupid idea, and that there’s likely more crawling around right now… and that Blood Elves are using hemomancy actively… what do you think will be the process for turning these undead elves into true princes or princesses? Would we get playable neophytes or royalty, you think? Interesting concerns for sure.
Having recently finished the Alliance campaign myself, noticed that little tidbit too.
The really interesting part is that means the san’layn conform to other vampire lore in other ways, in that a single survivor can continue the ‘species’ (if you can call a specific undead a species). Between Dreven coming out of the blue and the missing princes (pretty sure the ones mentioned then never confirmed as killed ever have been mentioned, if not, I can dig up that list at some point), this means that even should ever ‘living’ san’layn on board the ship have been slain, it doesn’t mean the end yet. After all, all it takes is one.
Secret Vampire School.
i think the idea of being a freshly made Blood Prince/Princess is a cool idea and would continue with the theme VE and LFD set up as being some super elite who just underwent some transformation recently
TBH I think Blood Princes are like the upper eschelon, you would be a scrub.
The fact that there are “San’layn Neophytes” is very interesting. Have these guys being Neophytes since WoTLK? How many years does it take to rise in the ranks? Or the interesting possibility that San’layn have been making more of themselves, and these “Neophytes” are really just new members!
It’s funny that we have more implications of the San’layn having new members over the Void Elves heh.
Indeed, also we know the “vampiric” curse in WoW works pretty much like your regular vampire from the vampire pirates in Stormheim.
Dreven was just probably the highest ranking surviving member of the San’layn after WotLK and he just ascended at the rank of Blood Prince because of power vacuum. It really just sounds like a title tbh.
So now that he is gone, another will take his place.
You’re right. I never heard of this Dreven guy. Maybe Dreven is making more. Maybe folks just maybe with all this blood troll noise we are finally getting a blood class. We have blood Paladins, blood mages, and they can think of some melee dps spec. Maybe ally will get some race of people who can use blood magic and so will the horde. Idk blizz tends to think years in advance so if they didn’t think of this before then you can cross this off.
To be honest I never heard of void elves before their announcement. And I hate the nightborn elves with a passion but at least they make sense. But if people are complaining about elves void elves were pretty dumb. San’layn would have been better with how many people wanted them
So after a couple days of brain storming and some discourse, I have come up with a bare-bones yet general idea for how to bring San’layn into the game which would solve the issues of where they went, how they survived, and what is the relation between sanlayn blood magic and vrykul blood magic.
So without further ado, I present this proposal (I do apologize for it seeming more like a list rather than a concise proposal):
Deep beneath the thralls of the Howling Fjord lies the forbidden vrykul society of Kvasirheim, the city designated for exiles from the various tribes of the vrykul. The town would serve as a prison from the orders of King Ymiron, but evolve into the den of blood magic. Blood-Jarl Suttungr used his expertise of the cursed magic to establish the society into one of practicing the taboo magics. However, after the Sundering, the blood jarl and his loyal followers used powerful magic to hibernate until after the great calamity was over and allow to passively feast from the citys treasure artifact: the Font of Suttungr, a runic fountain which produced rivers of blood which filled the civilization like streams. However…the Font would run dry and would cause the ancient denizens to fall into deep slumber.
This would all change when the Blood Princes and their remaining San’layn followers, amidst their diaspora from Icecrown Citadel would find the ancient tomb-city.
The Crimson Court: The ruling body of Kvasirheim, they meet in the ancestral building formerly known as the Blood-Jarl’s Sanctum: now renamed the Blood-King’s Sanctum. The long hall, a building of destroyed titan statues and architecture, would be open and somewhat dimly lit.
- Blood-King: Either now a former blood prince (Theraldis or Atherann), or done solidified through the one option of allied race recruitment (Kael’thas)
- Blood-Queen (Blood-Princess): Either this can be Lana’thel herself or another daughter of hers. It is possible to also do a new character.
- Prime Ritualist: A blood prince. Theraldis or Atherann.
- General: Blood-Marquis Vorath, formerly a Blood-Lord as depicted in the TCG. Dressed in full armor rather than the typical blood prince outfit.
- Blood-Jarl: The newly awakened Suttungr, who would be the last ruler of the buried city and tie the knot between the blood magic themes.
The Grave of Kvasiran – The former storm giant, and son of King Gymer, was killed by the vrykul under the assaults of the Winterskorn during the Winterskorn War. The prince of the storm giants was buried deep below ground in a sanctuary designed for his remembrance. When the Dragonflayer clan happened upon this giant site, they decided to use it to shame the giants and to house their exiles/criminals. The grave is now deep below the Font and serves as a quiet tomb.
The Font of Suttungr – Once known as the Spring of Kvasiran, it would be originally used to funnel fresh water into the tomb as a celebration of life of the fallen giant. After the Dragonflayers happened upon it, the week was dried and forced the exiles to die in solace and without food/water from the curse of flesh. The exile Suttungr, banished for his use of dark and forbidden magic, would use his prowess to transform the Spring into the font of blood magic it is today. With the presence of the volatile blood magic, the exiles would begin to be transformed into vampyr and rename themselves into the Bloodskorn clan.
Athenaeum of the Bloodskorn – Library, mages study, tomes on tomes of blood and rune magic
Halls of Rune – Military training / Warriors and DKs.
Sanguine Parlour – The entry to the city. Bloodskorn vrykul at the gates to the inner city. Ancient vrykul carvings into stone walls. Sanlayn tapestry and emblems hung from the gate.

- Ressurrection of Kael’thas?

i could understand them being allowed immediate access to undead pets, but other races would need some item that allows them to tame them as well, similar to the mechanical beasts, feathermanes, and dire horns. speaking of dire horns, is there any confirmation if zandalari hunters will still have to farm that tome from the Isle of Giants?
there would need to be a change in the DK starting zone imo, because atm every playable DK are ones personally raised by Arthas at the start of the events of WotLK. whether it’s just that the new allied races (and pandaren) get raised by Bolvar and the normal races get raised by Arthas still, or everyone is newly raised by Bolvar idk.
VE and LFD are supposed to be the elite of the elite soldiers and the DHs are Illidan’s personal guard and soldiers hand picked for the most dangerous missions to Legion controlled worlds. starting in WoD we became the Champion of the Horde/Alliance, and now we are the Champions of Azeroth. i do not see any problem with a scenario of the playable San’layn being a freshly promoted/created Blood Prince/Princess
