Looks good. :+1:

Not sure if that’s blood soaked hair, or just dye. But i like to imagine its blood soaked lol.

Thanks so much! Yep, that’s Ares, his hair is blood-soaked on a regular basis. Though dyed too.

Also, this is a good point–see his teeth being ALL sharp? The dentition of San’layn could be similar too. Anyway, hair dye–man I’d like that for all of my toons.

No problem!

Same. I want something similar to what the female Pandaren have.

They are literally the Blood Elves who died trying to avenge their people.

The San’layn are the first Blood Elves and the ones we played in WC3. those who sacrificed most for their people.

They are in the same boat as Forsaken and DKs. Former tools of the Lich King.

Lor’themar has no right to shun them at this point.

If anything, with Ji/Aysa being the head of the embassies, it could just be the Horde champion (your character) that helps to get the San’layn officially into the Horde. Lor’themar could also play a role, asking for your help to convince the new Horde council, or it could even be the San’layn that come to you after you get unlock criteria needed to do the unlock quest.

Dreven: Champion, you have done above and beyond for my people. It is a shame that the other members of the Horde still cast doubt at us despite what we have done. This, however, is a trying time for the Darkfallen, and it’s either now or never for the survival of my people. If you are willing, I would ask that you be the speaker for the San’layn as we approach the Horde council to become members of the Horde. They may not listen to me, but they might be more receptive to one of your stature, and the fate of my people rests within your power…no pressure, of course.

One of the loose threads that needs to be addressed when considering San’layn playable would be convincing the other members of the Horde to accept the San’layn. Talanji is heavily dubious, but that can easily be fixed by helping with the Blood Troll remnants. Rokhan I can see being supportive while Baine might be a bit dubious, thinking they would be still be under Sylvanas’ payroll. Thrall might be a bit more sympathetic, remembering how he allowed the Forsaken in and knows that not all of them are bad.

Anyway, that line of thinking will require more thought, but I think your player character, after grinding that rep…err…I mean after gaining the favor of the San’layn by doing daily world que…umm…going out of their way to do things to be nice to them, speaking for them and proving they can be trusted might be a good way to go.

And if Lor’themar has any issues with them, he can always be visited by three spectres and learn the true meaning of Winter’s Veil in accepting them. If anything, he should be willing to support them since they were his people and being more sympathetic especially with the Forsaken’s plight.

Regardless, there are plenty of ways to both reintroduce San’layn into the story and work with the story of their unlock questline. It’s something of an uphill battle, but can be very workable, in my opinion.

Welcome to all of the new Vulpera! Allow me to introduce you to mine. I bet you can guess based on gear who this is. If only I could mog my glasses. But I want my main to keep them so… Fire crown for this one it is!

Also no 8.3.5, looks like. No allied races for the start of Shadowlands either. I suppose we can hope this thread was an inspiration though for the future in case they’re developing stuff at the moment.

The DK ‘quests’ were downright disappointing. I expected more of Blizzard, what with AR DKs being promo’d so heavily. Alas, looks like San’layn won’t be seen anytime soon if ever. Ah well.

So one of my favorite things with new races is the different flavors of world building you can do with them. Here is an example of a NPC event in Orgimmar showcasing such a thing:

(Outside the Horde embassy is a stack of small crates with a Goblin on top)

Male Goblin: Greetings, vampire elves! Welcome to the Horde! Gather round, I have some great deals you don’t want to miss!

(Several San’layn gather around the Goblin)

Male Goblin: Again, welcome to the Horde! You’re likely a bit overwhelmed with your new sudden freedom and friendly locals, likely wondering what you should be doing. The first step, of course, is to look into supplies! My first item here is this nifty candy ball, the Gob-Slopper! Great for stress relief and to get that blood smell off your breath!

San’layn #1: What flavor is it?

Male Goblin: Well, given the way it is made, we only have it in garlic flavor currently.

(The sound of gagging occurs in the crowd)

Male Goblin: Not a garlic fan are ya? Well, then how about something more practical? This here Bilgewater Tonic will be a lifesaver! It cures everything! Stomachaches, burns, and even that pesky irritable bowel syndrome that likes to rear its ugly head every now and then!

San’layn #2: Can it stop our insane desire to suddenly feed?

Male Goblin: Well…actually…no. BUT! It does have a refreshing citrus after taste!..if you don’t mind the taste of gasoline beforehand…

San’layn #2: Sounds like it has better taste than you.

Male Goblin: Ok ok, I got it now. You want to go out and make sure you not only scare those annoying Alliance geeks but also look good doing it. Here I have a handy dandy Self Reflection Device. It has everything you need! Mirror, makeup kit, lights, and even an emergency NOOO button for those dire beauty situations!

San’layn #3: But we don’t have reflections…

Male Goblin: No reflections? Not to worry! Our light system has this amazing Glamour Beam (patent pending)! Just flip the switch and press the light button and PRESTO! You’ll be beamed with amazing solar power able to be picked up by the mirror! It even makes you sparkle radiantly for hours on end!

(the crowd immediately begins to walk away, clearly disgusted)

Male Goblin: W-wait! I haven’t told you about our sunscreen! Great for being able to photosynthesize! We’ve even knocked the mutation chances down to thirty eight percent! THIRY-EIGHT PERCENT!

Female Goblin: Boss, we really need to get you into the Horde’s Sensitivity Training program. (mutters to herself) Sparkling vampires…who wrote your marketing planning?!

Never commented in here, and I have to admit my hope more in ties to Undead Elves (either BEs/NEs) in the Sylvanas raised them sense ie Dark Ranger class, my interests often do find myself listing Sen’layn as a compromise to that want/need, so voicing my support now!

You’re always free to mute this thread, we’ve been here for almost two years now sharing ideas. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, though I had no idea people got so offended by idea sharing. :woman_shrugging:

Not in the mood for nonsense tonight.

I was thinking about some races being added as customization options for core races, and I’m a bit worried about how those might be implemented.

As of this post, we don’t really know how the customizations we know of, Wildhammer and different Troll Clans, will function. I currently assume that both of them would just be called a Dwarf and Troll, with the same racials as the core race, and just appear suddenly without any in-game fanfare.

In terms of the Troll clan customization, likely, all the Troll clans would just be played as if they’re Darkspear Trolls rather than the Troll clan they originated from, and I don’t see much fanfare in the way of them arriving and being part of the Horde now while maintaining a story presence. I suspect not much will happen to the Wildhammer either.

So then brings up San’layn as a Blood Elf customization, and it does worry me some with regards to implementation. If it functions the way I’m assuming, it means that they just start in BC-era Silvermoon, are referred to as Blood Elves, and don’t have any of their backstory visited in-game or anything mentioned from what happened to them in BfA after the Alliance war campaign. It would just be “POOF! You have San’layn customization, y’all!” and that could be just all it is. Gone is working them into the story as well as showing how they would officially join the Horde. It all would just end up feeling rather flat to just have them appear with no fanfare or storyline and not be referenced at all in-game.

Even if San’layn are former Blood Elves, they still would have their own culture and personality. Honestly, I want to see their story continue and be given a place in the Horde. I’m of the opinion that them just becoming a skin customization will just end up feeling dull and disappointing in the grand scheme of things. What could be an exciting questline regarding their story of survival would just end up being a damp squib.

Maybe I’m just worrying over nothing, since we don’t know how the skins will function. Still, I’ll keep an eye on how they implement them.

Angry Horde players flag the High Elf thread so it’s hidden but this post is untouched, lol. This race should never be allowed onto the Horde.

Don’t take the bait guys, people are trying to troll and get a rise out of people.

Anyway, moving on to far more important matters than people crying for attention…

We choose starting zones now, as a note, come the next expansion. There wouldn’t be starting anywhere unless the player chooses it, I think. Pretty sure people can go back and do the lore quests though.

I agree with you wholeheartedly there. Blizzard has shown that if it’s just customization, there likely won’t be a story behind it. San’layn are far more than just undead blood elves. Anyone that says otherwise hasn’t put the effort into reading this thread or anything else and honestly shouldn’t add an opinion to the matter since they did no prior research. Personally, I’m sick of people butting in when they know NOTHING of the subject and just want to troll/be naysayers just because all they see is more elves.

If you don’t put the effort into actually reading the work put into the first post? Your opinion isn’t valid. Move on and go bother someone else.

One point I really want to make.

If we go to Shadowlands and see Kael’thas, that one who the San’layn dies serving, in the realm of Blood Magic, the powers that San’layn use, and we don’t even see a mention of them I’m going to be ticked.

You mean like how there was a quill named after Lana’thel and no mention of them whatsoever with it?

It’s hard to believe that BfA is just about over. It’s also a shame that the San’layn just came and went during it, being forgotten about altogether. This expansion came out with a bang, but it feels like it is ending on a damp squib.

Still, at least for San’layn, there is a chance we could see them involved in Shadowlands in some capacity. As I mentioned before, this character I’m on (my Horde main) will be siding with the vampire faction. Just seems the most likely place to see them, not to mention Kael’thas is in that area.

I’ll continue to show my support as best as I can, and when Shadowlands news come, I’ll help keep an eye out for, report, and discuss stuff that we see from datamines and when the expansion launches.

With any luck, we’ll see their story continue, hopefully not as Sylvanas’ lap dogs, and we’ll see them welcomed into the Horde. Regardless of what happens, I’m here with y’all, and we’ll face the future together. :bat:
