Worgen are technically humans in the sense that, if they procreate, their offspring would be Gilnean humans without any trace of the worgen curse. If genes and DNA exist in WoW, then they would be genetically identical to a stormwind human.
Of course, “race” doesn’t really work that way. It’s more a cultural thing than a genetic one, even in real life. Since worgen are physically forced to be beasts in most aspects of their life (including pitched combat) they certainly consider themselves vastly different from human society, just like Forsaken do.

I still find this particular thing in lore to be incredibly stupid. I feel like their offspring SHOULD get the curse. It just…Ugh.

I know. In just about any other property this is exactly how it would work. Part of me thinks that answer might have been given off the top of the head of a second-tier dev who didn’t really know the company’s official stance, or maybe it was a part of the lore that had yet to actually be addressed. As it stands, there’s no reference (that I know of) in game that confirms that worgen offspring don’t get the curse.
Still, it’s an official answer from a dev, so until we are told otherwise this is the canon, I guess.

To be fair, a dev also said that all San’layn were butchered in Wrath. As it turns out, he was not correct. (Also pretty sad that the dev that made the concept for San’layn just flat out tossed us into the garbage. Ah well.)
It is in a tweet that apparently no longer exists. The worgen thing might be more legit sadly though if it was an official QnA or something.

Welcome to the Alliance. Where when you finally get a cool dark monstrous race they are basically just humans in a suit.
Looks at heritage Armor
Sigh…

Yup lol. A more feral look would have been appreciated. Or torn version.

Tomorrow is Halloween! I’m feeling the vampire spirit and am excited. There will be tons of candy eating if this stomachache of mine goes away (I’m hoping so). Then, it’s Blizzcon time! Really hoping we see something spectacular for this next expansion. I wasn’t a big fan of BfA, nor was I of the ending of the war campaign.
But well, I can move on with it if the story picks up again. If the rumors are true, and it’s death related, I’ll likely be thrilled. I think I pointed this out in another thread, but in Legion the BC tier were redone into HD. They look beautiful! Imagine if they did that with the ICC gear. An HD Bloodmage set, and if we get playable San’layn (it’s a dream but let’s not get our hopes up too high), it would look amazing.
But yeah, so that’s what’s on my mind, both the upcoming expansion and Halloween. Cheers bats and hope your Halloween goes well too.

With the supposed leak involving Bolvar, if it is true and we are going back to Northrend I could see San’layn being apart of the story again. Whether they will be playable or not is another matter. I hope they are added because they are cool.

All they need is one San’layn that works with the Horde next Xpac and then he gets hungry and BOOM. Horde San’layn.

Personally I would love to see the San’layn become a race. I have always always, alwayssss loved the San’layn lore, the San’layn fights, and pretty much everything. Even the people who roleplay them are super cool and very nice people. Much-more-so then compared to most of the roleplayers I have met in a lifetime. [With the exception of a good friend of mine that I’m slowly converting to WrA.] Honestly both me and her love deeply so Dark Rangers.
I would love to see the San’layn become a race - and see more of you San’layn roleplayers out and about! You’ve got a friend with me at least!
I do think that Priests might be a far-fetch for the San’layn, as it’d be kind of like giving a Death Knight light abilities, but it would be neat. I would love to see a class for Night Elf, San’layn, and Blood elf that is a Dark Ranger based class with customizations like that! I would be absolutely thrilled! The Alliance have Werewolves, can’t we have our Vampyr’s? Pleaseeee Blizzard?
The appearance would be great, and it’d be a awesome way to balance out the Horde and Alliance, especially if Sylvanas were to ever die - then maybe King Greymane could get challenged by the San’layn, and they be mortal enemies? It would be a nice aspect to have - and the aesthetic is beautiful! A definite +1 from this Sin’dorei!
Though if we do get San’layn, I would love to see maybe another Light-based Allied race for the Alliance? Dark Vs Light kind of scenario?
I appreciate this post so very much!
Haha if you can’t tell I really love San’layn. Personally I could never play one accurately well… because I’m only really good at roleplaying Healers, friendly, and timid characters.

With the expansion looming and the bolvar art. I can’t help to think about Lorash Sunbeam strangely. He was in war of thorns. The rogue that had us kill night elf civilians. He died and was risen into undeath willingly by the Val’kyr.
I can’t help but to think he may symbolize more undeath in the horde. I hope somehow he gets involved with the San’layn. I hope he can become one. It would be interesting if any undead elf could take the curse.
It would make Lorash interesting as well withing the warcraft universe to go. High elf->blood elf-> undead elf->san’layn.
I hope we see more of him in the next expansion. He seems bloodthirsty already. Imagine him as one of the first San’layn horde rogues. Unless they ibtroduce the San’layn as already in the horde like the alliance did with dark iron.

+1, I personally second this.

This makes me so happy. Thank you for your support. Normally people constantly put us down when we’re just trying to have fun. I’ve been called “cringey, edgy, emo” and worse by fellow roleplayers for playing my San’layn. Still, I play them anyway.
It’s really heartwarming to see that other people enjoy us too! I think as a community, from what I’ve seen others say, we tend to be secluded because of the rampant namecalling from fellow roleplayers. Boy do I have a story to tell, but that’s not for here.
Regardless, thank you so much
My San’layn are antihero in nature, so violent but typically for a good cause. I bet they(well most) would get along with your toon. Especially Falls! She was a musician in life and carried that to death quite like the forsaken in DMF.
I’ve seen this mentioned and like it! There’s many I’ve seen mention that Lorash would make for a good San’layn. Yeah there’s nothing saying the blood curse doesn’t work on other undead yet so it’s entirely possible. Hopefully we will know more of the process soon.
Happy Halloween everyone!

I’ve been rooting for the San’layn to be added as an AR ever since we first found out about Dreven. This gets my full support, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Fingers are definitely crossed.

'Course you did. DHs are awesome. They’re the battiest things we have right now.
In that they can sprout wings and literally feast on the life force of their enemies to sustain them.
Ah, if only all that fel green could be blood red…

Oh yeah, and here’s a good Halloween song. Believe it or not, I’m not a gigantic fan of Nightmare Before Christmas, but I do really like the songs!
This female cover is one of my favorites. Figured it’d be a treat for someone this day cause Halloween. Plus, we’re relevant today because vampires and Halloween go hand in hand, like any other monster.
Put 'em up! I actually like it when vampires and werewolves get along, not gonna lie. It’s so uncommon though to be fair.
